What Hopfield and Hinton did heralds a new age in our existance. From here new fields of science will (have to) emerge -in addition to Neuroscience- like Physiology and Pathophysiology of AI and so on.
Artificial intelligence can only be developed by a country where honest persons are alive and so thus AI cultivated. AI is now emphasized , but controversial, as its development not parallel to humanity. For example AI neurology can be applied on Look in Syndrome, and can also be used as gimmicks to do cheating.
