    I believe that the Thai English accent is very pleasant. 😊 There's no reason to feel shy about it, and people certainly shouldn't judge one another based on their English language proficiency. Adopting a positive and encouraging attitude toward each other will foster a conducive environment for all English learners. 😀

    Thanks for sharing your insights, Yumii. As an American, I see other Americans sometimes judging or disregarding non-native English speakers. But I view that as ignorant on the part of Americans. I feel fortunate and appreciate that people learn English as an additional language. And it makes communication much easier for me when I travel. I think the shyness is pretty common. Sometimes when I'm in Japan, for example, I will speak to someone on the street in Japanese. But they get so nervous, they make a stop signal with their hands, and say "no English!". Haha too nervous to hear it's Japanese! Anyway, the Thai accent sounds to me soft and kind... very comforting and approachable.

    if you see India or Singapore people , quite awkward ascent than native American , we never mock their ascent or expression, especially , when expats speak Chinese , no one ( its real , no one) can speak native ascent of Mandarin like native Chinese, i feel its because of the cognition and confidence in culture and economy , not in language. when you invest more time (maybe 50% is enough) in learning English like your native , you will find its quite easy than most of Asia languages . Keep on learning under the assist of chatgpt ( ex: callannie) for free , will definitely improve your spoken English greatly , because reading/listening is totally different from speaking or writing.

    I live in Thailand and met many Thai people, Young and Univ Educated, and surprised to know that cannot speak one sentence of English....even Sometimes cannot say Numbers in English,.......what reason I conclude is that when you see and listen everything in Thai Language, its extremely difficult to learn & Speak English, I have seen school textbooks, they wrote all words translation in Thai language, then how can you expect Children to learn English, because they will choose easy way ...Cartoons, movies, TV programs, all voice-over in Thai language. If Thai need to learn English, need to change lots of things .... this is my personal opinion and observation, please take in positive manner, I am also not a native English speaker .....

    I love getting to know people so I don't mind if they only know a little bit of English and I think accents with English are lovely. I don't know why people are so critical. I don't speak perfect English even though it's my first language and I have a heavily American accent when speaking the languages I study. And the Thai accent in English sounds so sweet. I hope that more folks will feel more confident to practice their English with foreigners because it's okay to not be perfect at it. And it's a fun way to language exchange.

    • @yumiibkk
      @yumiibkk  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea, and I hope Thai people enjoy and confident when they speak English with foreigners. And Hope Thai people stop to criticize someone who try to practice their English. 😊😊😊 Thank you for your opinion.❤️

    You speak very good English, you don't have a Thai tone when you speak, I meet 1 Thai guy who speaks English with severely Thai tone/accent, sounded like something that is out of this world, he' speak like an alien from another planet.

    Unfortunately, American education doesn’t work terribly well, either, since you need to explain to some of us why Thai people don’t speak English. Thanks for your efforts to promote better understanding and for the enormous effort it takes to learn English as a second language. 👏👏👏✌️❤️
