Hi, My kid used hard contact lenses for vision correction for about 2-3 yrs. Recently, her vision is getting worse. Dr had been changing her hard contact lenses several times and it still not getting better. Now Dr. add the reading glasses for her daytime reading. Is it a normal treatment process? hard contact lenses at night + reading glass at day???

just as in all other medical conditions. the docs know, or should know, but by telling u, it takes money from their platform of money enhancement for their clinic and for themselves. when c19 broke out, they said zero about early treatment. that was a mushroom cloud of a red flag to start off with. apply that with everything else. anyone today that is still watching legacy media is winning the Darwin asphalt challenge.

Back in the early 70s my granddad was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. His eye doctor told him to take Lutein and his regular doctor basically said the eye dr was a quack. My granddad took it until his passing in 2006. He did have greatly diminished vision, BUT 50 years later, he still had some level of vision! I have very, very poor vision and saw a change in sharpness within just 24 hours. I won't go a day without my Lutein. I"m a true believer!

My optometrist told me Lutein was a good product to take to maintain eye health. His was very expensive (about $100) so I shopped elsewhere and have taken it for about a decade. I am diabetic so get examined frequently and still have good eye health. My Mum however had MD which may have contributed towards her dementia. She passed away last month. Lutein Xeanthan are also very good for mental acuity.

@@DoctorEyeHealth hope not, my detachment started with rips in both, lots of lasering, finally a detachment, cryro didn’t hold so had the buckle procedure. I thought I read once that liquid lutein was being applied directly to the eye as a treatment? So repaired eye is -1, other eye is +7.5 so I need slab off on one lens. This was so I could drive without glasses if necessary. Due to the fragile nature of my eyes, second cataract is postponed until absolutely necessary. Wonderful Dr saved my eyesight. I believe the supplement is keeping my eyes stable.

Note that I am not endorsing any other product in this channel but just stating some facts re my eye health..For decades I've had a blurry vision that's been progressively getting worse to a point I had to lean over the counter squinting my eyes to read the wall hung menus at starbux or any other cafe...terrible..driving too, couldnt read the highway signs till too late to change lanes..until one day probably after two weeks of using it I began to see a noticable improvement in reading street signs etc they were still somewhat blurry but I could read them from a respectable distance...today I can read small lic plate numbers from 120 feet away..I just recently started taking Lutein

Useful information. As a bariatric patient I am a bit frustrated because if I take every single component I should I'd have to take 20+ pills everyday as the bariatric supplements are good but they're generic and include most of the essentials but not all these micronutrients that we might be missing out.
That said I am dealing with glare issues, dry eyes and I think a Brazilian ophthalmologist mentioned en passant that my retina didn't have much color in it. I didn't give it a second thought as I am partially colorblind and though it was related to it. I have some macular degeneration genes according to 23 and me (not related) so this sounds more concerning now than before.
    Thanks!

Whole wheat is very rich is Lutein and other caretenoids. There are studies that show nearly 40% daily value can be achieved with organic wheat. Not to mention the high levels of vitamin E and thiamine (needed for blood brain/blood retinal barrier integrity). Eating non-staple foods high in lutein, as the studies show, simply not enough. One needs a staple of foods high high in lutein that can be eaten at every single meal.
I wonder what the result of a study on MPOd from those changing all carbs to freshly milled flour without any further processing. That is, making all breads, porridges, cookies, cakes and pastries from freshly milled flour milled in one’s own kitchen and then cooked

I think everyone should max out astaxanthin first, than zeaanthinin and then lutien and lycopene. Just massive dosages either through diet or supplements. I've seen the best results with kids and varying results with adult clients. Defintely add in the Taurine, L-ergothionine if you're just focusing on eyesight and eye exercises or focus on throwing a ball at a target or watching birds and planes, making out cloud shapes. I've had clients kids improve their eyesight from glasses to no glasses. If you're stuck to t.v and tablet all day, you're kinda screwed though, you can offset it and create less damage. It's like junk food if you don't cut down the inflammatory biomarkers outweigh anything you can eat.

Eye pressure normally fluctuates throughout the day. Usually being higher while sleeping and early in the morning and gradually decreasing throughout the daytime.
Eye pressure readings can read higher due to increased body cavity pressure (such as holding your breath).
Posture can change the eye pressure (such as people putting their head down below chest level)
Some medications can alter the eye pressure too.
Otherwise eye pressure tends to decrease during and after exercise and tends to lower with lower stress bio markers.

    So how much is enough?
I've had serious macular degeneration in the left eye. It was actually bleeding, and I got shots, three times, from a retinal specialist.
I was put on lutein several years ago by my OD at the VA because I had minor distortion in the macula, which didn't seem to affect my vision until this bleeding event.
I take one PreserVision 5 MG in the morning and one at night.
    That's the recommended dose.
    Is that really adequate?
    Thx Dr. Allen.

5 mg is pretty low. I'd suggest you try between 10-20 mg. If you're in the US you can look for Life Extension Macuguard. You can also check out Visivite, these are eye supplements formulated by eye doctors. They even have a 40 mg lutein version. But please consult and check with your eye care professional.

They sounds similar but they are in fact very different. Astaxanthin has incredible properties as an antioxidant. I did talk about it in my live stream last month on supplements - th-cam.com/users/livetHKeu4XaDbI?feature=share

Brain from infinis nutrition has very a good Lutein amount and it has the lutemax patent ingredient in it as well that has shown a 90 % absorbing rate higher then any other type plus studies on lutemax show improvements in eyes in just 60 days of daily intake

For many years, I've taken a Lutein supplement (Lindens in the UK). I also eat an egg everyday, and have done for years. I also eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies.
So, in answer to your question, probably yes.
Bearing in mind the above, at 62, I'm disappointed to have floaters and flashing in both eyes. Posterior vitreous detachment, perhaps?
Perhaps I am benefiting, but am unaware of it? For example, no sign of cataracts or AMD?

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Floaters are a tough thing that really do just come with age. There are some studies on various supplements on helping floaters but...I personally would like to see more. Posterior vitreous detachment is a leading cause of large floaters as well as flashes - best to see a doctor and have that evaluated if you haven't yet.
Happy to hear you have not had any signs of cataracts or AMD! That's great.

Are we to assume that there is no need to take foods/supplements for isomers of zeaxanthin?

Hey doc. Please and please i need help, About 2 years while helping my mom mark some paper scripts, my eyes was really working fast, looking at the answer paper and the scripts i was marking. Day 2 or 3 into marking the scripts, suddenly i noticed a sharp pain in my right eye, as if something got torn. I thought it was nothing and tried continue marking the papers but i began feeling pains , so i had to cover the eye with my palm and continued with just my left eye, thinking it was temporarily.
The worse part is since then, i cant even look at my phone, ive read about the 20 20 20 rule or so but i cant even look at my phone for more than a minute without extreme pain, for years now, i look at my phone with just my left eye. Ive even had to buy eye patch just so i can cover my right eye. I'm tired honestly, i can't keep going like this. I've been to a doc who gave me expensive conputer blue eye and photochromic glasses ( or so she called it ) but all to no avail. It still hurt like hell even with the glasses. Im just 25 now, i also noticed the vision in the eye has gotten quite blurry ever since, my left eye, not so blurry. I was considering LASIK or something but its very expensive as i live in Nigeria and can't afford it, coupled with the horror stories of the side effects ive been reading about it. I dont know what to do. Can you help please? Anything i can do?

Research this. My father had it for his AMD from the VA.
Avastin (bevacizumab) is an anti-VEGF drug that's commonly used off-label to treat wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Avastin was originally approved by the FDA to treat certain cancers, but the FDA allows its use for eye diseases if doctors are well informed and studies show it's helpful. Avastin is injected into the eye to help slow vision loss from AMD, diabetic eye disease, and other retinal problems. Many studies have shown Avastin to be safe and effective for eye disease since it was first used in 2005.

Our pediatrician told us wearing or not wearing glasses would not make our child's eyes progress; only that glasses help one see better.
