@@CreekChubChasingNY as you can see it misspelled the word I use the recording and the recording puts up wrong words no I always go to site 24 if it's available because that spot there is a killer man I use the Wooly bugger or the woolly worm and I always catch the trout there in that area there's a lot of rainbow and brownies
@@CreekChubChasingNY and you got to realize there's no trout on Staten Island so I always take the train to Oakdale and I walk the rest of the way I passed Rattlesnake Creek and Bubbles Falls are you still good at bubbles Falls
Love the videos of connetquot. Headed down there Saturday. What beat was this? What beats you recommend? I'm hoping to get my friend on some nice trout he's never went fly fishing.
Yeah, it was up towards 14, and some of 15. I can say that 14 is a great site for a first timer, personally the one I’ve had the best luck at on a consistent basis, but I’ve fished from anywhere from 12-16 and had have always gotten something. Sometimes it requires quite a few fly changes to see what they’re on to. I’d bring a variety if you can manage it, small nymphs like size 18-20 prince nymphs or zebra midges seem to work great when nothing else will.
I don’t mind at all! This was a streamer that I tie up that looks like a prince nymph with a tail, but I’m sure an olive wooly bugger would be a close enough approximation to it. After i started catching them, i used the same one all day.
@@CreekChubChasingNY awesome I went last week for the very first time and it was also my first time fly fishing and had no luck I wanted to try streamer fishing and that’s what I’m gonna do this week ! Thanks for the advice man
Thank you for the comment! There is a wild population of brook trout in the stream, but I’m sure most, if not all of these were hatchery fish that I caught, as there is a hatchery on site in Connetquot State Park. They were super picky about what to eat that day, closely inspecting any nymphs or dries I threw at them, making it a fun challenge to figure out what they’d be willing to take. Luckily, they were willing to chase down some streamers 😂
nice catch!! I also talk to the fish I catch, lol.
Yeah I'll be going back there again soon probably in late April early May I always liked the dock 24 I always do good on 24 Gwinnett sites available
Awesome! I haven’t been on any stretches other than 12-15, but I plan on exploring more the next time I’m down on the Island.

Also, best of luck to you! I’d get there a little early, especially on a Saturday since they assign the sites on a first come, first serve basis.
I just want to know when is season in the park opens up for the trout that we could keep it's still two right
As far as I remember you can still keep two. When the season is I couldn’t tell you though… not sure if it runs alongside regular NY season or not.
What kind of flies were you using? If you don’t mind me asking !
