  • Kawasaki TG20 Strimmer (Check over, service & Carb Clean & Rebuild ) Mend it Man 🔧🪛
Hi welcome to another Mend It Man video, in this video I show you how to service a Kawasaki Strimmer and I clean and rebuild the carburettor, I start off with dismantling the carb then give the carburettor a thorough clean, then I fit the carburettor back together using a new diaphragm and gasket kit. I replace the spark plug make a new air filter then finally have a test run. To see how I did all this please watch. Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching 🙂👍

Please Subscribe to my channel - I have lots of machines which means going forward I will never be short of content, lots of my videos are small engine related but I do have bigger vehicles to which I also like to work on and improve.
    JUST TO NAME SOME-
2x Land Rover Defenders, Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo Wagon, VW T4 Transporter, Ford Transit Campervan.
5x Puch Maxi Mopeds, a Lambretta Scooter, a Yamaha MX100 motorcycle.
Also lots and lots of garden power equipment. All this will give me years and years of content, so with all that it makes my channel well worth Subscribing to 😀
A bit about me I grew up around engine’s as my dad was always a car mechanic and that’s how I learnt about them and liked working on engine’s. As the years have gone on my passion for working on engines has grown even more, unfortunately for me my dad slowed down working on cars when I was around 20 in the 90s, So the career I always thought I would have didn’t materialise and I become a gardener, but what do gardeners use? Power tools so that’s when I learnt all about power tools small engine, 80% of my work tools Mowers, Strimmers, Hedge Trimmers, Blowers were bought secondhand and most of them broken and I fixed them up. Most have been high end tools, Honda, Stihl, Kubota, Kawasaki, Husqvarna etc etc the list goes on I’ve worked on loads and usually managed to fix tools that were destined for the scrap heap. I have learnt so much and I pass a massive amount of that on in my videos, so watching my video could save you a small fortune in repair bills, so another great reason to subscribe to my channel.
Going forward I have plans to faze out my day job and work with the engine stuff much, much more that’s my dream, I also like restoring machines as well. So I’m always adding more and more tools to help me along the way. So the more support I have on TH-cam means that my dream may come sooner than I think it will 🤞 I’ll do my bit with the video if you can do your bit to help it could be a great journey forward, thank you for watching my channel I massively appreciate it 🙂👍

Hi they are a good solid unit, I like how compact they make the engine part, no big flimsy engine covers just what is needed. You can’t go to far wrong if it had Kawasaki written on it👍 Thanks for watching 🙂👍

Hi there use to be a fair few around in the U.K. but they are getting rarer these days. They were a well made durable Strimmer but you would expect that being a Kawasaki. Thanks for you comment and for watching 🙂👍

That'll do nicely. Good fix with the blue Peter air filter. It's good to see vids where sumtins made work with what's at hand or can't easily be got Luke.

Hi yes that piece from the air filter worked perfectly, my aim is to try and keep the costs down repairing these old tools, I improvise where ever I possibly can I enjoy it that way and I think and hope it helps others. Thanks for your comment much appreciated 🙂👍

Hi John, yes they were a well made good Strimmer back in the day, my dad used one for his own garden for years. I think my brother has it now and it’s still working, can’t really go to far wrong with a make like Kawasaki. Thanks for watching 🙂👍

My neighbour has a TG25 and the carburettor is a little different to that one it's like it has 2 primers on it anyway its a great edge trimmer after I got it running for him and I didn't know they were a clutch type my neighbour seems to be a direct drive unless there's a problem with it

I have the tg 24 with Japanese trasmission, it's a little beast. Now I am looking for a tg 33.
Today machines aren't strong like these.

Those old Kawasaki strimmers were very well made, but some of them have silly bits of design. Instead of taking the fuel line out through the top of the tank like this one, they have a connection on the side towards the bottom. It's a special plug/pipe/fuel filter element always in contact with petrol. It hardens with age and the slightest leak and it dribbles petrol. You can get the plug/fuel filter off ebay, but it's a pain to fit. I wish I'd looked into a generic new tank, even if it needed adapting.
There's no bottom guard for the tank to keep it off concrete etc.
I don't like that TK barrel carburettor. They have a reputation for being troublesome. I wish they'd used a Zama or Walbro.
If you can get one for nothing or just a few quid, and it doesn't have a scored piston or something fatal, you can get the bits you are likely to need, and it's worth a few pounds for spares and the effort of fixing.

Thank you so much for this video. I got a non-working strimmer and wanted to try to repair it and this video got me through it step by step and it was really easy to follow. My apologies, but I have a daft question. What type of two stroke oil do I need to use for this engine? Any help would be much appreciated!
