Desi is pronounced “They-see” as opposed to “Dezzy”. It’s a North Indian way to refer to “country” as in country cousin (from the country/village). South Indians don’t use the term. PS: Bajji (Pakoras or battered & fried veg fritters) is pronounced “Budgie” with emphasis on the J. “Bhaa-jee” (Bhaji) is a different dish totally.. it refers to a side dish of stir fried vegetables.

Yes i do understand that the name of the restaurant makes all of us think that there will be more of south indian dishes but we all know it was overall just an INDIAN restaurant. Doesnt matter whether its north or south. Every indian restaurant outside india sells stuff from all parts of india not just a particular region. Unrealistically critical, indeed. Although I do think this phenomenon does stem from the "great inherent divide" of North India-South India -- or as Indian Politicians label it. In reality, though theres nothing "great" or "inherent" about it. Just a Political gimmick. But yes, this does result in ignorant Northies critiquing South and vice versa.
