Look up 'Elton John B-sides' and listen to a whole slew of original Elton songs that never even made it to the albums. He make 'prolific' seem too small a word.
"Up in the balcony all the Romeo's are bleeding for your hand. Blowing theater kisses. Reciting lines they don't understand" If those not the best verses ever, i don't know what is.
I was stood outside when they were shooting this in a house in Burbank. I arrived just as Elton left the house used as the location. But the image that sticks in my head the most is seeing Elizabeth Taylor being pushed outside in her wheelchair and up into a waiting van. Don't remember seeing Miss Moore. Can't really remember the date but it was possibly 2002.
I was at the beach, somewhere in Florida. I felt the sand beneath my feet, the breeze on my face, calmly watching the sunset while listening to this song. It was such a magical moment. By myself, I didn't need anything else or anyone to feel like this life is such an amazing gift. So simple, yet filled with beauty.
This is my fantasy...LOL. How I would to be transported back to the '70s and have a front row seat at one of his shows. Beautiful song; fantastic video.
THIS was my youth! Had ALL of these posters on my wall and as well as seeing him at one of my all time concerts he handed me a red carnation! LOVE THIS and I'm now 55!
Me too. This is the first thing I thought when I saw this video is "That's me!". Many of the pictures on my wall were my drawings of him. I was never handed a flower by him, but I went to a concert fully intending to hand him one of the drawings I did of him. Unfortunately, I was intercepted by security who told me if I ran to the stage again, I would be escorted out! I'm 59, a professional artist, and I STILL enjoy drawing Elton and post them on my Instagram. Words are inadequate to describe how he inspires me.
My favourite video of my favourite song from my favourite Elton John LP of the past 40 years. Mandy Moore is absolute pained perfection in this, playing a character who's thoughts & feelings I imagine were very close to what my own mother experienced as a teen, with Elton/Elizabeth Taylor providing the contrasting necessary background here. This is EASILY, one of the most romantic music videos ever produced, and the realism of the sufficating yet familiar mid-70s semiotics is staggering. A true ugly, gorgeous masterpiece.
All 43 years of my life, I've been a fan. My mother's influence when I was young. My husband and I never had one of those "this is our song" songs and when we married, we didn't want the same, typical first dance song as everyone else we know. We chose Original Sin because WE knew it, WE love it and we've never heard it played on commercial radio. We got so many compliments about our choice of song, how none of our guests had heard it, but it "fit" our relationship. Now, we have so many lovely and loving memories associated with Original Sin. We are celebrating 20 years this weekend. 💙🌹
I was looking for this music video for the past 12 years, i almost cried this is such a beautiful son and music video my heart is filled with a mixed of emotions.
One of Elton’s best videos. It pays tribute to not only his career, but this feels like it definitely was made with longtime fans in mind, who will definitely recognize many of the pictures she had on her wall. The picture she gently caresses was from the inside cover of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. The only complaint I have is that it cuts off the ending part of the video, where Mandy is asleep and Liz Taylor says to Elton the dad, “She must really like this guy,” to which he responds, “Who is this Elton John?”
Barbra Streisand Liza Minnelli Anni-Frid Lyngstad Björn Ulvaeus Bo Derek Sonny Bono Cher Bono Chaz Bono Bette Midler ? and Vince Van Patten? Who are the last two?
I've never seen this video. It's about teenaged me. I even had the Elton John collage poster on my bedroom wall. Elton's music meant so much to me, helped me get through my teen years.❤
The older I get, the more meaning music has to me. With every passing loved one, the stronger the connotation of the melody. I miss every one of them. Life is so fkin tough 😔
Takes me back to 1976...16 and my first EJ concert. His pictures were on my walls and I thought he was gorgeous. This is a lovely video... made my eyes leak. Lol
Someone might have commented on this before, but the ending of this video (as it ends here, not the omitted original ending some people are talking about) is directly connected to the ending of the video for "This Train Don't Stop," in which Elton, dressed exactly the same, walks onto the stage to start his concert. Some of the same extras are used, including the Liza lookalike.
His “peak” may have been 1970s, but he still popped out more wonderful songs in 1980s, and 90s and 00s than most can do in a lifetime. Always frustrated that this one (and I want Love and Runaway Train) not on concert set lists, I go to a lot of EJ concerts! Have a listen to England and America from 2016. Still got it. Always got it.

How come this song video has got only 500 thousand something views by now? This is one of the best songs in the world!
I just recently heard it for the first time! Don't know how I missed it!
If it was sung by BTS, it would have been a massive hit
"Up in the balcony all the Romeo's are bleeding for your hand. Blowing theater kisses. Reciting lines they don't understand"
If those not the best verses ever, i don't know what is.
This is the perfect song

I really like it that not much people haven't heard or realized that this song is absolutely amazing.
It’s so sad that so many people doesn’t know this song! Is so special 🥺
Benie Taupin, these are such deeply beautiful words
How wasn't this one of his biggest hits ever. Its pure class
98% everything this man does is Pure class. And this is no exaggeration
Oh and the rest 2 % are 8/10
Maybe his greatest hits overshadow this but doesn’t diminish this song. Every song he plays is basically perfect

And they're stringing the lights around you
Hanging paper angels

Is a flickering of wings about your face
In a cloud of incense
Yea, it smells like Heaven in this place

Still I hunger for you when you look at me
That face, those eyes
All the sinful pleasures deep inside
Tell me how, you know now, the ways and means of getting in
Underneath my skin,
Oh you were always my original sin
And tell me why, I shudder inside, every time we begin
This dangerous game
Oh you were always my original sin
A dream will fly
The moment that you open up your eyes
A dream is just a riddle
Ghosts from every corner of your life
Up in the balcony
All the Romeo's are bleeding for your hand
Blowing theater kisses
Reciting lines they don't understand
