Just stumbled on your channel and I love what you've done to the Bentley so far. Some noob left field thinking here: it may be silly. Extract ALL the gasoline from the tank. The undissolved sugar will remain. Dump in 40-50 litres of WATER to dissolve the sugar! Extract the water with dissolved sugar using siphon hoses through the openings in the trunk. Disconnect the fuel lines (before the fuel filter) and use electrical power via the fuel pumps to pump out the remaining water from the tank. Now, at worst you have a negligible amount of water in the tank and NO more sugar crystals. Fill her up with gas and fire her up.
Thanks. I really do not want to outsource too much work. Most big Yters doing what I do outsource because when it comes down to it they really just dont know what they are doing. They buy a car, make videos, and get someone else to fix it. Yet these guys have 100s of thousands of subs. Im not trying to be that guy.
Love this set of vids. Very brave move to buy this BUT you do seem to have a very good idea of what you are doing, thoroughly enjoying the take down and road test's, keep up the excellent work you are definitely getting there!
I'm very impressed and love that you have made this information readily available to the average folk. I was thinking of buying a Bentley at an auction myself. Now, I'm not so sure...lol. You have a great talent and I appreciate you taking the vids step by step! I watched just about all of them! I don't have a bay to work on vehicles but you made me feel like I could!! Great content!! Awesome job! Keep up the good work!!
Great watch keep at it , I used to drive one for a limo company here in the uk , same colour love the flying spur ..looking forward to seeing it done .👍👋
I can respect and appreciate the hard work you do and maybe one day I can get one and know what to do to it and what repairs are needed. Man I like your style.i take pride in all that working ony own stuff also. Peace
Check out my earlier videos on this Bentley. I show changing the fuel filter several times. It is located under the car in front of the passenger side wheel. Pretty easy to do with just a flathead screwdriver.
I recently got an 08 GT Speed. Am enjoying what you're doing, tho I would never try these things at my age. Nice to know where to get parts w/o going to the dealer. Now, when you figure out how to get better than 12 MPG, I'm all ears!
Glad you have enjoyed everything. yeah I dont think we can do anything about the 12 mpg. 12 cylinder twin turbo and 6200 lbs is not a good combo for fuel economy.
Bought my Flying Spur in black. Under 38k miles. It was a steal IMO. OK with the gas mileage. In SC and would love to have a way to know where you are. Retired now, former Sr. Principal Engineer for Northrop Grumman, flying for resupply to Space Station. Also own a 2019 Mini Cooper S, JCW and a 1072 Lotus Europa. Go figure why I enjoy British cars. But the Bentley is exquisite. Awesome power, subtle in delivery. Won't be putting coffee can exhausts on it, LOL. Vids are great.
The hesitation could be the plastic vacuum lines in the back of the engine, they are known to fail in these cars. Also if you havent already check out 6speedonline bentley section a lot of info there and good luck. It used to be an engine out procedure but I heard you can also do them by unbolting the steering rack.
Thank you for your info. Im very aware of the vacuum line issues. These all seem to be fine on this car. Its all in the fuel system. In my newest video soon to come, all will be explained.
Thanks for swinging by the shop and bring the Bentley by. It was good catching up. Here is the video I put together of it. th-cam.com/video/ekJNRzqa0QU/w-d-xo.html
Yooo thanks for the knowledge i learned alot watching your videos this is Dope, now you got me looking for the same yr bentley. hope i can get lucky too..
It is interesting that the OEM and aftermarket fuel filters are made in China on a $$$ vehicle. The MANN fuel filter's inside looks no different than their oil filter on Mercedes. Excellent work on restoration. Still begs the question as to why would someone pour sugar in a gas tank.
You have. Injector problem you should have taken out the injectors a while ago and bench flow tested them instead of spending money on filters over and over you can run lean and have detonation and other problems injectors aren’t a lot of money if 1or 2are bad you should have gone thru the whole system instead of half of it clean the fuel rail yes sometimes the sea foam and injector cleaner works but as you said sugar doesn’t dilute in gas so some grains might be stuck in them causing a leaky injector or stuck closed and worst case scenario is water locked engine I’ve had a 2017 flying spur I bought it new for 380 grand and had injector problems it’s common also the watch on the dash the dealership gave me a matching brightening super ocean 42 it’s a 8 grand watch the option you have is a 6 thousand dollar option on your car....when I was younger I was a journeyman Mercedes Benz tech for 5 years and worked on many Bentley’s best place for parts is FCP EURO they have lifetime warranty on everything they sell even spark plugs lifetime warranty when it’s bad you call them up no questions asked they send you new one it’s instant money savings ....good luck...I found your channel by the recommendations but you just need to buy the factory repair manual online for 20 bucks and it will show you everything procedures and specs with pictures and everything it’s Emanualonline.com
Love your video's!! Maybe the sugar got into the injectors and clogged them up and now the fuel isn't getting properly atomized, I would try cleaning/replacing those
It is a whole lot of work to remove the tank. The cheapest used tank I found is $800 and you still have to do all the work. I dont think there is much left in the tank. I have a couple things Im thinking of doing soon if I keep having issues, just trying to brainstorm it out.
I got one question? When you found the sugar on the filler neck, why didn't you drop the fuel tank and flush it out. Remove the filter and blow the line clear from the injector rail? Back flush the system.
Dropping the tank is alot of work. I only saw sugar in the filler neck and not so much in the tank. Just went by what I saw. No sugar ever made it past the filter.
- I came across your channel- Very Good Videoclips very very detailed what you using and not even to long very good. Your personality makes the video good passions to Cars. Giving you 5-Stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. -Currently I am overseas in Germany I was very surprised Bentley has German Parts.--
It will run good for a while after you replace the filter. Then after around 50 to 100 miles, it starts hesitating and shutting off at random. Change the fuel filter and its fine. Im thinking I might have to pull the pumps to check everything out again in the tank.
9:08 "Me, personally, I do my own paint and body work." I can see that in the background looking at that rat-rod truck. Where do you get that rust-colored paint? ;)
Surely with the accumulated time and money spent on filters would it just not be worth “biting the bullet” removing the tank and flushing it? I know it’s a massive job but won’t it solve the sugar problem once and for all?
These videos should serve as a lesson to the DIY guys who have nice cars or trucks that they love working on but also have a wandering eye when it comes to women. Get a locking gas cap.

Beautiful classy cars also cost lots of money. It just goes with the territory. Bravo for doing your own work. It's too bad that this vehicle was abused, but it seems like the previous owner had more dollars than sense, especially with women. No matter, once you get her back running and cleaned up, nobody will notice any imperfections. All they will see is the brand name and start drooling, wishing for a ride. 'Great chick magnet.
A used tank starts at $800. Thats not including shipping and taxes. Im thinking about pulling the pumps again and cleaning the tank again. I dont think there is much left in the tank. There are a couple of blind areas in the tank I couldnt get to the first time so I have been relying on the fuel to move whats left to the accessible areas.

great background music! For a car repair project! You should replace the front light circle cases. Cloudy. Most cars had these. Modern 2018 no more!

U being a good mechanic I'm surprised that u haven't checked the F. i. pressure with the Schrader valve. Should be 55 psi at idle.
We have Copart here in the UK. The car I purchased had light cosmetic damage due to the yard loaders..
Thats is where my cosmetic damage came from. Little did they realize they done $4k in damage.

Did the car run better after the last fuel filter was put on it.
It will run good for a while after you replace the filter. Then after around 50 to 100 miles, it starts hesitating and shutting off at random. Change the fuel filter and its fine. Im thinking I might have to pull the pumps to check everything out again in the tank.

Do you do other people car and where are you located?
I really dont have time to repair vehicles for others too much anymore. Im located in NC
Probably been a lot easier to have dropped the tank and cleaned it out real good or got a good used tank and swapped it.
A used tank is $1000. I did just clean this one up without removing it.
@@4LaneBlacktop ya after i commented i seen the video of you cleaning the tank and saying a used tank was $1,000. Good job on getting it going

$1000 for a used one. I flushed this one.
After 15 to 20 kms messing problems in addiling my bentley?
Fuel filter made by Bounty
Yeah no doubt. At least its catching everything.
How much you paid for the 🚗
