No matter who plays or who sings, they are the frontline soldiers of the Skynyrd Nation. They are on a mission and they know it very well, to ensure that this music and this spirit continues to live for the greatest happiness of millions of fans around the world. They all deserve the utmost respect for that.
RIP Mister Gary Rossington and don't worry cuz the machine is in good hands.
    God bless the Skynyrd Nation!

I was a mediocre Lynyrd Skynyrd fan as a kid when these came out. I was in 7th grade when the plane went down. Over the years as you get older your music taste changes..the older I get the more I appreciate Lynyrd Skynyrd. I think it's smart to pick up friends and relatives of the band as the original members leave because they feel the responsibility to keep Lynyrd Skynyrds life and philosophy alive.

@@MP-ju4ol They won't have Artimus Pyle in the band, probably not even as a guest. He is a registered sex offender. Regardless of what the truth may be, he was convicted in court. Hopefully Artimus wasn't misjudged and railroaded.

@2v_5r I thought about him. You are right. He added to the creativity. But I’m a bit short-sighted
because I think of the five studio snd one live.
His dad was the delta blues do-bro influence. Ronnie according to Ricky was a big Son House fan. Probably an influence of Curtis Loew.

Definitely was heart breaking to hear Gary passed, idk why but it just felt like we lost a part of ourselves with Gary passing, I had the honor and privilege of getting to meet Gary a couple times and this last time when they came to Tuscaloosa, Al and he spoke to my wife and I for nearly 30 minutes like he knew us our whole lives and was such a down to earth kind spoken humble man, never once did he ever act like or give the impression that he was the huge rock star legend that he truly is and never forgetting where he came from and who helped him get to where he is and his freebird brothers, you could just tell by the vibe he gave that he was just a genuine simple man and a good man .sorry for the long comment just thought I'd share my experiences with him, Rest Easy Gary Rossington and God Bless you, I know you got that Les Paul crying on the big beautiful Golden stage up in heaven right beside Ronnie.

Thought I'd toss this up. A little piece of music history for us. It has become Lynyrd Skynyrd's third best-selling digital song after "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird."
Songwriters : Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington. Lyrically, the song is about a mother talking to her child about life, inspired by the passing of Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother.
Long may they each rest peacefully.

I am and always will be a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, that will be based on seeing them in 1977 in July. I’m very sad that I did not see the re-Union of surviving members in 1987. But, yippee, it’s on TH-cam. I have read as much as I can and written to members of the crew. I came to a conclusion that I did not want to taint my memory of what to me is the greatest southern rock band EVER. I drew conclusions about a band member and the intentions to just make money, e.g.,”blood oaths, rule of three”. But, as a 61 yr old, combined with some critical thinking, an a heart I have arrived at my truth. The last surviving original member spoke truthfully when he said “it’s all I know how to do”, ‘it’s beyond me, I’m keeping a legacy going’. I apologize to the now dearly departed in saying you did create a “legacy” back when and up to the day you departed. The legacy goes on and I respect it and am grateful Gary did it. Long Live Lynyrd Skynyrd! RIP…….Ronnie, Alan, Gary, Leon, Billy, Ed, Steve, Cassie, and Bob. Much love to the Honkettes and of course Artimus. Thank you for the great music. This yankee is truly a southerner.

I don't know how people can tolerate the band in this form. People think that because Johnny fronts the band that it has legitemacy. I think people don't realize that Lynyrd Skynyrd SAVED Johnny's flailing career. The band also PROMOTED Johnny and the Johnny Van Zant Band. How many people do you know that have JVZ cds, records, tapes, that they actually PLAY? What are the great or good JVZ Band songs? I think he has a "greatest hits" cd. I wonder if you EVER, EVER, EVER hear any of those songs played anywhere. This lineup is beyond sad. These guys are merely playing music to pay their bills. I wouldn't even care but they use the name of the band. I guess if they tour with ZZ Top this year that it will be, boo, hoo, they both had a death in the band. But with ZZ Top you still have TWO of the THREE people that made up the band. You have 2/3 rds of the band. And even though you lost the singer of Tush and Legs and other songs, people wanna see the major talent in the band who is Billy Gibbons. People aren't coming out to see Frank Beard fronting ZZ Top without Billy or Dusty. Can Frank Beard tour as ZZ Top? Sounds pretty stupid. But, but, Johnny is a Van Zant, yeah, the least talented of the Van Zant boys. Johnny sings and not so well. And God Bless you if you love the songs Johnny has written. I'm glad somebody thinks Johnny is a great songwriter. But you are in a minority of people.
