We bring you the third episode in our eight-part series on forbidden love. In this edition we head to the south of France, where Father Périchon gave up the priesthood for the love of Valérie. They are now free to live their love, but the judgmental looks of many parishioners, the anonymous letters and the insults cast a dark shadow over their relationship.

He's the second Roman Catholic priest I've heard about who got married to a parishioner.
Love is Love. They should be together. The Catholic church imposed celibacy. It is not a normal way of life and quite stupid. This was not the intent of Jesus. The catholic church imposed these rules. God Bless this couple for finding true love. In 25 years I guarantee the Catholic church will change its mind. So few vocations now. My church is splitting up because both priests died. No one could be found to take their place. Sad.
He is no longer a priest. Priesthood wasn't meant for him. I respect him more by leaving than continue to lead the woman on, and cheat his vows to the church.

The priest is in the wrong, if he cannot keep his vow of celebecy then he should have applied for laciasation and leave the church to get married. Not staying on and having an affair.

I never understood why the catholic church after 1200 requested.priests to live without getting married. The ortodox church kept the tradition - St. Peter was married - and for this reason it had very few sex scandals.

St Peter was an apostle, so he was a priest all his life, receiving his mission directly from Jesus. He was married -nobody can become widow without being first married. Its true that he did not have a second wife and he became the first leader of the Christian church, but he was married while being a priest and he would have continued to be married also as a "pope" if his wife did not die. Until 1200 the catholic priests were also married, but they gave up the tradition St. Peter left.

Sex scandals are rampant in all protestant denominations. To date in 2019, 10,000 protestant pastors in the USA alone have been convicted of paedophilia. Nothing to do with celibacy. She's certainly no oil painting!

people has to think before getting closer to priests..you can't go very closer to them .they should be respected. if they are doing something wrong it's our mistake not theirs. we know they should live holy .if you go and touch them and hug them .they can't follow holiness. they are also human being s.they also can mistake

since the priest is married to church, he can't do anything with another human. so, no he can't kiss anyone. it's like a man is married to a woman, he shouldn't kiss another person too, right? that's kind of the same. hopefully it helps. :)

This is why I can not believe in the Catholic Church what I see written down below about these people by other Catholic people they do not know the real Bible as there Church keep them from knowing it, Glade these two people have each other they do need to get married though. And the Catholic Church needs to let the Priest and Nun's get married. From a none Catholic.
