It never ceases to boggle my mind that Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Ronnie Wood and Peter Green were born within roughly two years in one 20-ish mile radius circle around SW London.
Jeff Beck: ACTUAL Legend! 🙂 Great vid, man! The smirk on Johnny's face after the 'old men playing guitar' comment def says YES... Jeff Beck, Joe Perry, etc...
The fact you clipped that piece from the trial and Johnny smiling is exactly why he and you are legendary. I love you did a deep dive on him as a musician and his relationship with Jeff.

Thank you so much for posting this, it makes me smile even though Jeff Beck's unexpected departure still makes me cry. Jeff and his wife Sandra didn't have kids, but took in Johnny and kept him with them when he was going through so much turmoil. Jeff Beck helped younger musicians (like Tal Wilkenfeld), who many people thought were his biological children. Johhny Depp and Jeff Beck doig John Lennon's Isolation during covid was heartfelt and compassionate. Now excuse me, I always post too much and am a dweeb.
I was fortunate to see Jeff Beck 14 times, including his last tour last year with Johnny Depp. He was my all time favorite guitarist as well as musician. I am still in disbelief he has died, it hurts me as much as when my Mom died. #RIPJeffBeck #GOATGuitarist #ICON
Many moons ago my husband and I went to a Stevie Ray Vaughn concert with Jeff Beck. My husband, a bass player and song writer never published, was on a high for days. When Jeff passed that man cried. He was in a few non existent bands in the late 60s. He can go on endlessly about all those guitar players, and band mates, you speak about and I have now turned him on to your channel, having come across it recently. When he saw you interviewed Beato he had to stop everything and listen. BTW, love that Hedy Lamar song. What a fascinating woman. Johnny's ex had absolutely no idea she was witnessing magic with those old men.
That's what they do try to take something you love doing or have away from you because they are jealous always seeking attention, you're better off without da biatch your guitar will always be there for you Good Luck!
Been following for only a few videos recently and just realized who you are Justin. I've been playing at a rehab in Indiana every weekend for 10 years, and I have a sheet of 430 songs people choose from and I perform it on acoustic (unamplified) while sitting on the floor. Despite covering many genres I don't care for (Country, Post-Grunge) my faves to play are classic rock and power pop (Kinks, Badfinger, Heart, Cheap Trick.) Some have sadly never been chosen (The Pretty Things, Sloan and She's Not There?!!) One song that gets chosen somewhat often and is a blast to play is I Believe in a Thing Called Love, but I admit my falsetto impersonation of you on the chorus is pure cheese and always gets a good laugh.
Loved the clip of Johnny laughing in court to the, "Old men playing guitars." He knew she was making a fool out of herself and now the whole of the music word did too. A bit of Bowie in Johnny's voice, nothing wrong with that, especially when your on stage with Jeff Beck
My question really is, Johnny's age gap between him and his ex never changed. And they were only married for less than 2 years. I think she knew her acting carrer path was limited and short and thought attaching herself to Johnny would prolong it and also she would get some of they Captain Sparrow money after a few years. But yeah to refer to Jeff as an old man.is not a lie. But saying it was boring is amusing. Just picture random days of him and either Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck or Mark Knopfler hanging out noodling on guitars.. Pondering what Amber would not call boring?
Yeah, especially after forcing Johnny to hang out with her childish, party friends with zero taste, and letting them move into all the penthouses on their floor. Wow. That would have been fun. Could have driven Johnny to drink even more. Would have had me pickled to the high heavens to hang out with her friends. I'm Johnny's exact age. My stepkids are her age. Would have driven me mad!

So delightful to see you and this channel! Came across it by accident! Super stoked about it! Aaaaand....I have never listened to Depp until today! Have been a fan of the acting aspect of his career, but s**t! He's pretty damn good. I'm impressed! Love ya Justin!
Good vid. I saw The Hollywood Vampires on that tour with the Darkness supporting. It was a great gig by both bands. We were lucky enough to be by the barrier at the front and saw you watching them play from the side of the stage. Depp rocked it that night. The Jim Carroll 'People Who Died' cover was a standout.
Ive seen Johnny Depp perform on guitar, live at least twice now. Once he did a surprise on a couple of Marilyn Manson's tour a few years ago. And another when he, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and a few others started up the Hollywood Vampires. I always preferred the musician version of Johnny cuz he just looks so much happier in that state. I missed him on Jeff Beck's current North American tour but he will be back with Hollywood Vampires in 2023.
Johnny Depp originally took up acting only as a way to pay the rent. It was never meant to be a career for him. In my opinion he's truly happy being a musician, that is his calling.
Got to see them twice on their North American tour.. Jeff Beck is my all time fav .. went to see him play ~ and Impressed greatly by Johnnys performances. I’ve seen Jeff play over the years in concerts since 1968. So fortunate I had the privilege to see him one last time. Looking forward to hearing and seeing Johnny play again.
Great job Justin. This was my favorite podcast as of yet. Very entertaining. Old men in your living room playing guitars..... let me see. Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, and the ghost of Steve Marriot.
When I saw Sweeney Todd I thought he was intentionally doing a Bowie impression, but it seems that is just his authentic singing voice. He has a lovely resonance.
Justin, you'd be the first to admit you're not in the legends category. But you've got a place in the rhythm of the heart of everyone who was a rock fan during the heyday of the Darkness 😁 GUITAR!! You're a legend to me fella
"It was old men playing guitar, and that didn't interest her" Because I'm sure he found all Amber's hobbies and friends fascinating beyind human ability to describe, right?
Heaven is old men playing guitars. When I get there I will be jamming with Jimi, Jeff and all three of the Kings. What a shame someone could not appreciate that kind of thing on this earthly plane.
Nice you can be the house band I'll be at the bar with Farley,Belushi,Williams,Hedberg,Patrice I'm going to stop now because this list is bumming me out Haha
Absolutely !! When I was a small child, I fell asleep on a great many Saturday nights to my Daddy and various other Old Men playing guitars, bass, drums, etc...and recording it all on reel to reel tapes circa: 1969-1975 !!! It was fantastic, and I cannot wait to see them ALL again someday, in Heaven !!!
On April 21, 2016, British radio host Stig Abell tweeted, "Eric Clapton was asked about how it felt to be the world's best guitarist. His response: 'I don't know. Ask Johnny Depp.'"
If there's one thing that I know, there's absolutely no way that Johnny Depp is a poser. He's the genuine article. There's no man on earth 🌎 like him. He's one of a kind ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Jeff becks sound is so unique. His guitar on roger waters amused to death is one of my all time favorites. Johnny depp is as real as they get.... he does it right full circle.
For anyone surprised by Johnny playing guitar, he was a guest guitarist on a couple of Oasis songs back in the ‘90s; played with Marilyn Manson heaps; had a band with Flea, Steve Jones and Gibby Haynes; and is now in The Hollywood Vampires.
@@PurpleVR111 No one said he is. And while this was pretty underwhelming, it's not exactly hard finding TH-cam videos showing he's a decent enough guitarist.
My grandpa used to work with JDs dad a long time ago and lived in the same neighborhood. Grandpa knew JD as a young man and said he was always playing guitar and jamming with his band. He left Florida for cali to play music. That’s all he wanted to do.
I remember when I was like maybe 14 and staying over at a friends house. His dad had some friends over and they all got stoned and drunk and sat around and played their guitars. It was a bunch of old dudes sitting around having a great time and making music. It was an awesome experience to see that.
I like him too, but he annoys me at times as well. Don’t always trust that he is speaking the truth and anyone who thinks waking up the neigbours, a total def leppard rip off album is a great piece of work I have a hard time finding a verdict I am comfortable with. I do believe he is a nice guy deep down.
@@eirikrdberg1161 Well, it's a package deal. I agree with what you say and he's also very funny at times, very aware and insightful at others, and sometimes he's just putting out good information that everybody should know like the fact that Powerage is AC/DC's secret best album beloved by Keith Richards, Eddie Van Halen, and Malcolm Young himself. I personally think the lyrics are at their greatest and Malcolm's playing is at its greatest so Malcolm obviously had every right and reason to pick that one. It was just flawless and the two brothers seemed to have one mind even though they played different parts.
@@VolvoImpala kinda weird. I have every single ac/dc album, except for Powerage, which I for some reason haven’t even heard. Real weird. Always been aware of it out there. The dumb sleeve and that it is a pre highway to hell Bon Scott album, which automatically makes it interesting opposed to the crap after blow up you vhs player in 88. Never have I heard the razors edge either. Had moved on to prog by 1990 and despite being back to playing my metal Lps and cds that I thankfully never got rid of razors edge is still not on the agenda. Powerage is, but I don’t want to hear it on a crap sounding stream service. Will have to track down an old 70s copy cause so many reissues sound terrible.
@@eirikrdberg1161 It doesn't have a lot of hits on it. In fact, I think it has none. And that's weird because I would've pegged "Down Payment Blues" at least and then maybe "Gone Shooting." I guess it just couldn't be pigeonholed because the lyrics were more mature and the tunes maybe a little out of center in canon?
Yes, he moved to L.A. from Florida with his band. The others eventually gave up and moved home and he stayed. And he was spotted by a casting director (I believe for 21 Jump Street) and offered work. He was broke, so he said yes. The rest is history. p.s, other actors started as musicians, too. Michael J Fox and Brad Pitt come to mind.
The one part I saw from the court videos he said his true passion is music not acting, but since he was too deep in it he decided to keep doing the acting thing
Johnny seems to be a good judge when it comes to choosing who to appear on stage with. When I was 15 my first ever boyfriend was a bass guitarist and used to rave about Jeff Beck and John McLaughlin. I prefer John McLaughlin, but both of them are excellent!
Well done Justin! Jeff Beck is one of the only players from 'that era' who kept evolving and kept reinventing and refining his art. He doesn't need to ride the current Johnny Depp wave for publicity as he does not need it. You can see that he's being very genuine and very real as he introduces JD. They're very similar - Jeff Beck plays guitar to support his passion for hot rods and Johnny Depp acts to support his passion for music. Ride on and ride again Justin Hawkins!
His hot rod passion I just recently learned about, but he must have passion for the guitar as well. Kinda weird to know this guy would be in the hall of fame if he retired before I was born. That is a bloke getting a lot out if his years among the living. I really like wired and the album before that in the mid 70s. R&B based electric guitar melodic enjoyment.
@@eirikrdberg1161 Blow by Blow is the album before Wired. Check out There and Back as well if you enjoy that era. He definitely has a passion for guitar but he stated on many occasions that hot rods are his true love. Quite a storied career!
You’d be very surprised at the box office appeal of Johnny Depp. Thousands who don’t know shit about Jeff Beck will show and scream at all the wrong moments. The whole thing smells a little bad to me.
Im just sitting here as a big music fan wishing I was hanging out in Depp's house, drinkin', smoking, listening to "old men" play guitars. The fact she didn't realize what she was experiencing, witnessing, just tells me so much more about her mentality, that we haven't already learned in the past weeks. I mean, wow.
Wow. I was watching one of those Top 10 Hardest Songs to sing things and saw The Darkness,, on it. I was in shock of the sound of your voice in it, so I sought it out on TH-cam and couldn't get enough. It was awesome when it came out way back when, (almost 20 years ago). So it was great to rediscover you and then I thought where is the band now and found this channel and You. I am amazed and totally blowaway. Still going, still playing and singing and having near pitch perfect while singing your intro. Its so nice to see that you haven't lost any of your unique vocal talents over the years. You are truly inspiring. Happy Belated Birthday as well. Based on your title for this video I actually expected to hear you trashing Johnny and I was thinking I am not going to like this one bit. However to my surprise your commentary was refreshing and genuine. Being that you have also first hand experience of playing with both Johnny and Jeff even better. And yes after what Johnny has been through over the last several weeks, nice to see him getting back to work and his first love. You are what truly inspiring human beings can be, genuine, nice, knowledgeable, helpful, kind, brilliant, down to earth as well. So thank you so much for giving him credit for having some chops and telling the world some of the great stories. You are truly one of the greats yourself. I am so glad that I found your channel and am able to tell you how much your music was a big part of my life growing up. And how its getting a second chance now I have rediscovered it. Thank you once again. Best Wishes to you.
Love to see Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp together. Unique duet and friends.....a must from all the others. They both play and Johnny sings in tge stages of the world for Jeff Beck and Jeff Beck plays for Johnny Depp. A unique combibation of two great musicians
@@luciusverus4886 So every guitar player who isn’t selling out stadiums and blowing minds is a poser then? The guy has been playing guitar for years and supporting music. This whole “He’s a poser” bs feels like it comes from a place of jealousy. “I’m a bigger fan of music than Johnny Deep! He doesn’t deserve to play with Jeff Beck, poser!” Get over yourselves.
Johnny Depp was a musician before he became an actor (at the urging of Nicholas Cage). Both Alice Cooper and Joe Perry say he is in fact the real deal, not just an actor posing as a musician. I can't imagine anyone getting on stage with someone like Jeff Beck unless they've got something to bring to the table. And, apparently Jeff feels that he does.
When you buy a mansion just to record music from then you do it for love and not the money. (He owns 5 mansions in the Hollywood hills and one is just his music studio)
And Nicolas Cage is proven right - acting was eventually what made Depp a superstar. Nic Cage's unique acting style might be very over-the-top for some people, but the man can definitely act and knows very well if someone can do so.
I watched a Hollywood Vampire gig on here and I got the distinct impression that Johnny was just there for the sheer joy of performing and a true love of music
hollywood vampires just play to honor the ones fallen before them hence y they do mostly covers ...its the love of music they do it for they dont do it for money ...if traveling n hotels were free they prob wouldnt charge much for tickets lol
He is a heart and soul performer, whether its singing, playing guitar or any other instrument. Thanks for posting and your honesty and integrity, Justin. Hopefully Johnny is able to transform some of his life and the challenges he has been through into some great songcraft!
Nice youtube. I'm sorry I'm seeing this 1 year after it was made and things have changed... for the sadder. I'm so glad I got to see Jeff Beck live while I had the chance. You are very correct that he was the best living strat player at that time. Can't even think who's next in line among the living. Props to Johnny too!
Not until I saw Johnny Depp’s name on the credits of an OASIS single did I even realize he was a guitarist. (He played on a lovely acoustic B-Side version of “Fade Away” that was done for charity).
Can’t seem to find an “official” posting from OASIS, so here is a fan-made upload of “Fade Away [Warchild Version]” with Johnny Depp, from the “Don’t Go Away” single: th-cam.com/video/ciLo_XyHJgw/w-d-xo.html
He played slide guitar on ‘Fade In Out’ off of Be Here Now. Noel went with Johnny, Kate Moss and Mick Jagger to Mystique island and demoed the songs, may have reused Johnny’s takes from the demo.
Jeff Beck and that whammy bar....he has such a unique sound. My old man showed me his live at Ronnie Scott's gig and I watched it repeatedly for months.
Great synopsis on Johnny 👍, but very sad that Jeff Beck is no longer with us, only listened to this today having just started following you, keep us the brilliance Justin XX
Johnny Depp's vocals remind me of David Bowie. He's no slouch! ..and yes, Jeff Beck is definitely the greatest living Strat player. ..one of the best, full stop.
Because of the trial - I’ve had messages asking me about Depp’s guitar playing… I‘ve always considered him to be quite good. It’s not as easy as people think to walk around a stage and play guitar effortlessly… even if it’s not lead… I haven’t heard enough soloing to judge his lead playing but his rhythm playing is pro level solid. He makes it look easy and he’s super cool while doing that. I’d love to jam with him. He’s real people. He’s a real guitar player.
@Jedimaster420 holly wood vampires have on all isntruments people from former A level bands, do you think they would have wannabe playing with them? thats annoying to other musicians, so he has the seal of approved. he maybe wont make it into any top 100 list, but you seem to have some issues with the fact that hes good enough to hang with the likes of jeff beck. (and i dont even care about his band).
Jeff Beck playing in the living room with your husband with which he is considered a really good friend of.... And what does she do? Call him an old man and literally take a dump on the "marital bed."
From his time w the Yardbirds 'till present, Jeff has not ceased pushing the bounds on guitar. Loved that Johnny went there to play. Looks like they are releasing an album soon too.
I was surprised to hear your comments on Jeff Beck and Johnny performance… I found your video very interesting and different from what we can watch on TH-cam most of the time. Great job. Very entertaining 👍
Johnny is what I would call a professional amateur, lol. His love for music has always been greater than his acting but his acting brings more food to the table so he didn't acquired the technical perfection required to be a rock legend like Jeff Beck, but he's definitely NOT a poser. As for guitar strat legend, well, some might argue Clapton beats Beck but I disagree. Pertinent he decided to play and sing John Lennon's "Isolation". The lyrics are very poignant and relatable to his trials and tribulations. His voice is not great, he needed to warm it up more before but it's ok. I'm glad he's got his career and peace of mind back.
@@fangusfu let's see, r u friends with Keith Richards or Paul McCarthy like Mr. Depp? NOPE LOL. ARE U FRIENDS WITH beck??? NOPE 😂 THEIR WORDS ARE WHAT mr. DEPP WOULD TAKE SERIOUSLY THAN YOUR OWN LOL LOL 😆
I was surprised how much I liked his voice. He's multitalented, good at everything, drawing, acting, singing, guitar. No matter what he does he's expressive, but having mostly acted I'd say that's his true craft.
Justin, I love this channel. Pretty much obsessed. I go down the rabbit hole every night for an absurdly long time. Well into the wee hours. Love the insight and sense of humour… and also, the compassion. I’d love for you to review one of our tunes (NothingBox) or alternatively one of my acoustic interpretations of said tunes (video). I can take it. I think. 😐 Much Love. Steve - NB
He never gave up playing guitar even when acting. He's smart. He focused later on acting, which helped him become financially strong to later pursue his first love which is playing guitar with bands live and also painting. Things he never quit and still did but didn't bring them to forefront because of his acting. As you've said, "he's legit." He is, he's just doing what he loves when he was young. I think it's been about 50-60 years since he has been playing guitar and painting too. He's very talented artists.
I still love Jeff Beck's guitar solo on that Stevie Wonder tune in his Talking Book album. Such power and at the same time such elegance and taste as you'd need for a Stevie Wonder tune. Thanks, Stevie! Who is better than Jeff Beck as a strat player living? Well, if Eric Clapton's not dead... I miss Buddy Holly.
@@adammckenzie8769 I like Knopfler. Fingers on a strat, right? But yeah, Mayer could be great. I wish he wrote better songs instead of the garbage he usually puts out. The only thing I've liked from him was Try! but before that my guitar instructor would talk about how good he is and I'd go "WTF? You mean the 'You're Body is a Wonderland' guy? That guy? WHAT?! Strumming the gayest acoustic guitar ever?" I even bought his early EP to see if that would be good. It had a song with some serious technique called "Neon" and even that didn't stop me from turning it off 30 seconds in and checking for eardrum damage after my ears started bleeding. He is the best guitarist of his generation, no doubt, but the f*cking songs! What a tool.
@@Muisje68 Yeah, I heard Ritchie actually plays hard shapes to play on guitar that actually probably a keyboardist would more likely make. He deserves at least some observation by other guitarists.
I was on tour with Alice Cooper in the UK when Johnny finished his trial and we got word he was flying into town. Before anyone knew he was in town or coming the whole backstage vibe was awesome because we just heard that he won the trial. A lot of the crew and band all know him. It was a cool thing to see. I thought for sure he was coming to guest on our show but I guess he was just playing with Jeff Beck or with his own group down the road.
My husband is a musician. I love listening to him play guitar. Holy hell, if music legends were in my living room playing guitar, I would die and go to heaven. Amber Heard is an immature baby. She was also too young for him because she couldn’t appreciate greatness all around her. I hope Johnny finds a woman that appreciates him.
Me and my friend have front row seats in York on Tuesday. I can’t believe my luck. We will literally be a few feet away the side Johnny plays. That’s exciting but seeing Jeff Beck play that strat is going to be mind blowing!!!
Jeff Beck and Alice Cooper understand how Depp boosts ticket sales. Cooper also understands the need to have two or three other guitarists in the band.
I actually quite like his singing voice, and find it quite unique! It might not be so perfect there, but his singing in the Tim Burton Sweeney Todd remake is wonderful!
That movie was.... So bad. Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Edward Scissor hands, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks, that's it. Every other TB movie is garbage.
@@Robot666House I have to disagree with you. His batman films are campy and ridiculous in my opinion. Not much better than the 60s series. As for Sweeny Todd, it's decent but only because he didn't write it. If you like broadway musicals it's not bad. I will agree his best films were made in the 90s though.
@@baahs101 I do agree that they are campy, but that’s what I like about them? 🤷🏻♀️ Having seen the stage production and the film, I think TB took creative liberties on a tasteful way and made it suitable for film. Stephen Sondheim expressed how TB did a good job with his choices for the adaptation, which is really saying something!
@@Robot666House While I can agree with you on the 90’s stuff being his best, I quite like Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie of his “newer stuff.” Corpse Bride was my first TB film-after Nightmare Before Christmas-so I have a soft spot for it (I was like, 10 yrs old when it came out lol).
I'm so freaking relieved that he won that ridiculous case. As for Depp being a "poser" I don't think he is- though his look borders on corny, but then LA influenced "rock look" has always been super f--king cheesy. If a piece of clothing can't find a function; it's forced & looks affected; period (unless you're in costume & then it can be amazing.) I guess a scarves don't count because they're useful & look good in small doses, but when rags are tied to clothes & 50 earrings in each ear... I dunno man, pretty cornball. Gotta love him though, & hopefully he learned not to fall for romantic archetypes based on the inherent danger & nonsense of it all. There are a shitload of hot women his age. If he doesn't want to be seen as a cliched actor, might wanna stop playing with immature chicks who don't know wtf is up.
Watched Jeff Beck last night at Newcastle Sage and JD guested. Beck was incredible and JD really brought something to the set when he sang, I was pleasantly surprised.
I was lucky enough to be at the RAH that night. A very special one personally because Jeff has been on my bucket list forever, he's the best, a true inspiration. Johnny Depp did a good job though I was less excited than others by his appearance 😄
Depp is not particularly virtuosic as a singer or as a guitarist but he is very genuine which is pretty rare in music these days. As you said, "returning to his first love". I think he's great. Answering your question about living Strat players: No. Better than most of the dead ones as well and probably equal to that other guy who was 27 when he passed... Even Clapton said that Jeff does what nobody else can do. YOU would be a legend too if more people attempted to play 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' CORRECTLY and learned how tough it actually is. Damn dude...way trickier than it seems...like 'Brown Eyed Girl'...nobody plays that right either. So WHY are so few players playing it? Cuz nobody else short of Freddy can sing it either. Too bad Freddy missed it, I think he would approve. Mad props...
I love the observation you discussed at 6:05 where you mentioned that Joe Perry perhaps overplayed a little in the presence of Jeff Beck. I can totally imagine it. Whenever I'm in the presence of someone I really respect, or even just other musicians I want to impress, it's quite easy to get swept up in it and overplay. It's interesting to hear about it happening even amongst the heavyweights.

Welcome! This channel is fantastic! Frequently the best part of my day, and definitely the perfect thing to wake up with.
Justin, you always make me laugh! Your chats always come across as spontaneous and genuine. You’re eccentric AF and I love that!
He is a cartoon. People like cartoons. What a sad disappointment to those wanting to see a guitar show.
Yeah I saw him play with Manson in 2017 at Wembley London. Totally unexpected. The closing song ‘The Nobodies’ was pretty special
And Paul McCartney… they’re good friends.
I could listen to Justin talk all day ..
Honest , humble & gives his opinion without making it sound like “fact” or discrediting anyone else ..
Not very humble, but I'd agree with your other statements.
Another great video! I love the ones with stories. You're good at that "we were all in the dressing room" thing.
When I saw Sweeney Todd I thought he was intentionally doing a Bowie impression, but it seems that is just his authentic singing voice. He has a lovely resonance.
Justin, you'd be the first to admit you're not in the legends category. But you've got a place in the rhythm of the heart of everyone who was a rock fan during the heyday of the Darkness 😁
GUITAR!!
You're a legend to me fella
"It was old men playing guitar, and that didn't interest her"
Because I'm sure he found all Amber's hobbies and friends fascinating beyind human ability to describe, right?
Just a perfect demonstration of Amber’s narcissism, she’s not the centre of attention, it’s not all about her, she’s not happy.
Exciting things like buying overpriced pillows, candles and handbags presumably.....
Can you imagine the "old men" he was jamming with?
😂
What was weird is Johnny cited one of the reasons that he hooked up with Heard was similar music interests so I Found those comments strange
"The Wang Bar."
That's is definitely going in my guitar vocabulary. Nice one, Justin.

Jeff becks sound is so unique. His guitar on roger waters amused to death is one of my all time favorites. Johnny depp is as real as they get.... he does it right full circle.

His playing is quite brilliant on Amused To Death - but then the whole album is a masterpiece

Amused to death is an AMAZING record
I do love Jeff's tone. It must come from his fingers!

It was a bunch of old dudes sitting around having a great time and making music. It was an awesome experience to see that.
Great discussion! I heard "This is a song for Miss Hedy Lamarr first and was blown away by the song and the performance!
Old men sitting around playing guitars : the best evenings of my entire life !

Jeff Beck is a legit legend of legends. He keeps getting better. That old man is welcome to drop by my living room and play guitar any time.
We need more people like Justin Hawkins in this world. He is so interesting & fascinating to watch & listen to.
Hmm,, I get the love but there is a one dimensional drive at play here. I need a bit more grit and attack. Like, not zero amounts of it.
@@eirikrdberg1161 It doesn't have a lot of hits on it. In fact, I think it has none. And that's weird because I would've pegged "Down Payment Blues" at least and then maybe "Gone Shooting." I never thought I would be hooked but you, Justin, Do it so good. Thank you for being there. Cheers.
This is a really lovely review Justin, I think both Jeff and Johnny would be so grateful to see this
As far as I know he moved to L.A. to pursue music, and fell into the acting thing. I think he's genuine in his pursuit of music, and seems legit.
We can thank Nicolas Cage for getting him into acting!
Jeff Beck is a fantastic guitar player, and Johnny Depp ain't no slouch either! And I like Johnny's singing voice also.

He's garbage at guitar period.
I'm sure Depp has had the best guitar teachers for decades, so... Anyway, when he writes a good song I'll think of him as an actor/musician.
Depp is bringing something to the table, more ticket sales because he's Jack Sparrow.

He also played the slide guitar solo on Fade In Out on their Be Here Now album too.
He played slide guitar on ‘Fade In Out’ off of Be Here Now. Noel went with Johnny, Kate Moss and Mick Jagger to Mystique island and demoed the songs, may have reused Johnny’s takes from the demo.

He never gave up playing guitar even when acting. He's smart. He focused later on acting, which helped him become financially strong to later pursue his first love which is playing guitar with bands live and also painting. Main takeaway: Amber Heard is so #@%#ed up that she complains about Jeff Beck playing guitar in her living room.
Love your commentary 👌 🤩🤩🤩
I love a bit of Nigel Tufnell. I want to hear the guitar purr now....
I really like that cap! It looks awesome on you!
Edward Scissorhands on guitar - hmmm ... nice.
Another great tutorial, my friend. I love Jeff Beck as well. A legend.
Jeff has been my all time favorite guitar player. Thanks for paying respect to a legend.
In summary; Johnny can command an audience and Jeff Beck IS the Stratocaster incarnate
Depp is not particularly virtuosic as a singer or as a guitarist but he is very genuine which is pretty rare in music these days. As you said, "returning to his first love".
I think he's great.
Answering your question about living Strat players:
No.
Enjoy the content JH, love how articulate you are, amused :)
It's interesting to hear about it happening even amongst the heavyweights.
revisiting this as it's still a shock that we lost him
