  • In this video, I replace the rear axle seals and front wheel bearing seals on a 1913 Ford model T chassis. with few exceptions, the same seal designs were on all model T passenger cars 1909-27.

It took me a second to realize the *absolute flex* of lifting the car up by hand onto the jackstand. That was funny.
My dad and I both together can't even manage to lift the engine by itself, lmao.

Yeah, to be fair, it had no coolant in it at the time which does make it a bot lighter.

@onewhocollects6781 ...noted- I had wondered about that with my engine, whether it had been drained or not yet. It's for the best that it hasn't yet because it had been sitting outside forever but at least it has an oily coating on most of the parts. :P

Great straight forward explanation of rear axle seals and replacement!! For a noob! I have found that a lot of Toobers make it way more "Einstein Technical"? Good job! Thank you!

If you have to tap on that rear axle instead of using a puller .. install the castle nut backwards on the axle and whack on that. Also … didn’t see a cotter pin on that when you removed it.

Is your frame a 13? If so what do your firewall supports look like?

Its a later frame. The supports are cast and bolt on top of the rail.

Will leaving the seal in the axle prevent fluid from flowing to that side?
