Very interesting information, thank you for that. I've read that some pear varieties need a warmer location in order to be able to really develop flavour. I was wondering if a fully grown hedge can help with creating a slightly warmer orchard and thus better tasting fruit? Is it then correct to put that a warmer location gives better taste for the same amount of sunshine? Is this true for all kinds of fruit (not only pears, also apples, plums...)? Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for this information, I have farm field tile ditches (2-3 meters deep) lining my property and a large flat field behind it. I live in Michigan, USA and I have planted some young apple and peach trees in an area bounded to the north by very tall pines, but exposed to the west where all the weather comes from. If I were to put in a hedge, what might I choose if Hawthorns are not ideal for me? Thank you for your time and expertise.
Thank you for sharing this! Live on a windy hill. Want to plant hedgerow in orchard

We find its useful to put Field Maple, Acer campestre and Hazel Corylus avellana work at our 620 feet elevation. Good luck with your plantings.
