I hope this gets more people to try out the speedrun of both games including Octo Expansion (and soon to be Splatoon 3). They’re fun and I feel the movement is similar to what’s done in competitive so it can translate pretty well.
Very informative commentary! Learned a couple things I didn't even know. Watching Ian's progression over 6 months for S1 is pretty insane. He is talented but he's also been running these games forever so it makes sense how he helped bring down such an optimized speedgame. Also, he is one of only two players to hold the WR in every single full game category. The other being myself and Movefish. Its nice to see the padawan become the master and achieve something I didn't even think was possible. Proud of you man!

Splatoon 3 routing is just finding the most optimal route that spends the least amount of time collecting power eggs from normal stages while still beating every boss
I'm sure it's not the absolute fastest way but someone could just do the 3 second sniper stage over and over collecting 250 power eggs each time and use those eggs to open only the Fuzz paths that lead you to the final boss Splatoon 3s story mode is so non-linear it'll take people a long time in trial and error to find the fastest path possible to beating it. Which makes it very interesting
