It's 2021, can we just get push to start?

My start sequence for a hot start: Boost pump on for .83 seconds, off for one second then repeat for .83 seconds. Mixture pumped all the way in five times then all the way back, then 1 1/16 inch in. Throttle ignore until cranking. Right before I engage the starter I yell "Clear Prop, can you give me a hand here!" and have a complete stranger climb in and toggle the boost pump on and off while I hold the starter on and pump the throttle. When it starts I immediately make an engine writeup of the successful start, get my mechanic's signature, and send an email to Lycoming that all is well in order to get the OK to move the airplane. (and give 5 bucks to the boost pump dude of course)
Videos like this is why people don't fly.

That was great. I've struggling with Bonanza hot starts for now 23 years (even when using the Atkinson method of cooling the fuel pump by circulating cool fuel for a minute). Yesterday I tried Todd's method after a 1 hour flight and refuel stop - and the engine started right nicely. I'll keep trying this method going forward.
On a related rant - why is no one installing a lambda probe into the tail pipe of fuel injected engine with a readout in the cockpit so we can see in real time if the mixture is too rich or too lean upon starting?? In a hot start procedure, you never know if you need - right now - more or less fuel!

Thank you!!! I have been struggling with cold start for the last 18 months! I tried your method and it started in two blades. I was just about to order a new starter.

What about starting a fuel injection engine that has been sitting up

What is the best procedure to cold-start a carburetor engine? Is it a huge difference between a fuel injected and carburetor starts? Thanks for your ingenuity and keep up the good work!! Braden : D

i may be wrong here but the throttle doesnt push gas in fuel injected systems.. only the air valve part.

another good thing for hot start is have both at cut off and turn on the boast for say 10 seconds to pump out any vapor

@Johnathan Celso run boost but with mixture cut off and seat belts of! (fire danger if mixture cutoff isn't a good, full cutoff so that you can jump out)
