  • Smelting and assaying a sample of high grade gold ore and comparing to the gold panning results in part 1, we determine how much gold was liberated by crushing and panning vs assaying. The lead collector metal was cupelled in an electric furnace for better temperature control and the results of the full 2 kg of high grade gold ore are determined at the end of the video.

    This was one of my jobs at the gold mine I used to work at. borax, lead, calcium, a couple of other ingredients.

    Macgyver gold refining with whatever is laying around. I dig the setup... goes to show you can rig up a couple of things on the cheap, just think it's funny because you have state of the art processing equipment. Love this series and channel... keep 'em coming!

    Great series of videos, congrats on the interesting results. However you need to get a more accurate scale. They have scales on Amazon that go to 0.001 grams for cheap (I just bought one) and you can easily enough get ones that go to 0.0001 grams, which for assay testing you really need something like that.

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just ordered a .001 and a .0001 scale! You will be seeing them in up coming videos, thanks for the tip. I didn't realize they were that cheap. I paid around $300 for my .0001 scale. It will be well worth it

    I'm noting that when you overflow the mold, the extra is just falling over the side, you can see it just run across the top and out. Isn't that the part you most want?

  • @jamesh5460

    I have a question. When you are pouring the material out, does the liquid gold just sink to the bottom even though the container overflows during the pour? Very cool concept and absolutely fascinating to me.

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, exactly. The gold and lead are so dense they go right to the bottom

    Wanted to ask your opinion if it js okay with you.
    Outcrops grabbed from on top of the reef on the ground surface fire assayed 0.22g/t and 0.19 g/t respectively. What is your general opinion of this?

    Funny you should mention the dangers of sulfur dioxide, while I was deployed to Iraq the insurgents had light a fire at a sulfur plant and we were downwind. Needless to say, I have a serious lung disease now because of it. According to the doctors I lost about 40% of my lung use because of the two weeks we spent downwind of that fire.

    • @mbmmllc
      @mbmmllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, nasty stuff!

    • @OffGridOverLander
      @OffGridOverLander 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just curious, did you discover the danger before or after you started hard rock mining, and how?

    • @elliottdiedrich3068
      @elliottdiedrich3068 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure it was SO2 you were breathing because sulfur dioxide is lighter than air and rises into the atmosphere when formed. Around here (Alberta) we have quite a few sour gas (H2S - hydrogen sulfide) wells and H2S is heavier than air so a cloud could gather on the ground if there was a leak. So when there is a leak, they burn the H2S and turn it into SO2 to get it off of the ground. Both are very nasty and can kill you even with small concentrations.

    I live in the UK and have enjoyed watching the videos you have done, but it was just a thought that would it be better if you was to have a bigger mould to poor your molten mixture into instead of having some of it poor over the edge that I've seen you have in the videos I've seen you do so far keep up with the great work 👍 👌
