Keep in mind that despite having some overpowered zoning tools, most of these characters were also pretty good up close. So if you somewhat managed to get past the barrage of projectiles and thought that you finally got them cornered, you're in for a rude awakening.
Exactly, after taking lots of damage closing the gap only to be hit by a low or over head starting string and be sent full screen for it to start all over again.
And this is why NRS games lose to Tekken, Street Fighter and KOF. Imagine giving rushdown mixup characters great zoning tools or giving zoning characters amazing combos, invincible wakeups...
the one thing i absolutely hate about netherrealm games is the zoning.... zoning in most games isnt that bad but something about these games is just a whole new level of frustrating
They always make zoning too strong. And in Injustice. Walking back is block, so spammers can block while creating space. Combo that with Injustice's large full screen size and you have a bad time for players who are playing slower, or projectile less characters.
It's the chipped damage i think. The meter burn roll was created to address the issue and i think the risk and reward ideally is good but the high chipped damage renders it useless
I thought about it, but to me that projectile was not strong by itself. It was strong because it helped Batgirl get in, but if you gave it to other characters, it would not be as strong. In other words, the projectile itself is not strong.

This is likely because TH-cam wants to avoid controversy since it can cause another Adpocalypse. In other words, TH-cam sees the name of this game and thinks I am posting a video about literal injustice, and therefor censors it. The worst part is YT does not even tell you that the video is restricted. Creators only learned which words get you restricted from tons of testing (trial and error)
Honorable mention to Black Adam, he had that tracking cloud from full screen, that shit was hard to deal, and up close he had some of the best combos in the game.

He has to both work his job and editing video everyday to upload 1 video per week is not easy task especially he have to research to make ppl don't agure about which one is better. Also at least he didn't lazy editing someone else video as a example unless it is necessary and he always mentioned their youtube account

The worst Dr Fate move was actually the custom version of the orb. It was slow but literally followed you for a long time and it was infuriating. You couldn’t jump it, it would turn around if you rolled through it and if you blocked it would be forced to hold his other options and get pushed back.
Starfire's trait also becomes Mid when meter burned, forcing unavoidable chip damage, on a full screen attack, with insane pushback, that can cancel from any of her other special moves to finish combos, that can't reliably be jumped over, with no execution skill required (Hold 4, that's it, no BD2 like Firestorm traps, or DBF1-MB for Cheetah grab combos ...just Hold 4). The only characters that have an attack like Supergirl's teleport can reliably do anything about it. In rare cases Scarecrow IF he has his full-screen stun full, or Captain Cold with his Super.
I tried going back to Injustice 2 a while back. First match online was against Dr. Fate and all he did was spam that broken ass projectile. Felt like I couldn't even do anything. Turned it right off afterward.

I think supergirl also has a pretty good projectile in injustice 2, and the meter burn version has a ridiculous chip damage and completely safe, I believe it's a neutral, but I am not sure
You missed pre patch injustice 1 cyborg his IAFB we're mid and jailed full screen when done perfectly. He was S tier for a week till NRS made it a high.
I'd say From The Deep from Aquaman is a pretty dirty projectile, it's very fast, hits mid, counters Zoning, extends and up close can start combos and can be hard to play around, similarly Nightwing Ground Spark is massively+ when meter burnt and is also fast and counters Zoning
Thank goodness I used low tier Aries so I could teleport behind all those projectiles.. it was always fun getting hate mail from people who knew all these big damaging combos but couldn't deal with my fireball spam and teleporting. 🤣
I'm surprised you didn't mention Red Hood's quick shot. I'm not sure exactly, but I believe it has the fastest projectile speed in the game as well as he backs up while using it which puts him just out of range of an enemy attack while putting him at his most dangerous range, lunge distance. It also is good for a quick mix up since it is tied to his trait which it usually used for a melee combo, but with one button it is now a projectile

So if sub zero threw a MB ice ball at me I can still catch him with either projectile before being hit. Same if enchantress put up her shield, the lightning goes straight through, and that is what makes him scary

I dont really mind zoning in MKX (except for full auto Jacqui), but dear god zoning in injustice games are a whole different breed
The other problem I find is that projectiles don't clash with each other and cancel each other out but instead by pass each other.

I’d love for injustice 3 to include the ability to parry/block projectiles and build meter so projectile spam actually hurts the spammer over time
