After the script was finished,a copy of it was sent to barkers PR person to give to Bob. After reading it Bob agreed to do the movie.And even though he was 73 years old at the time,he did all the acting except for the part when they roll down the hill.

The African American projects border the course. He decides to make his final investment which will drive nearly all of the residents away, and make many homeless. Kenan, an underachiever, leads the protests against Douglas. These fail, and he notices in the sports pages Douglas claims to have never lost a match. Kel Kimble is his best friend, and caddy. His old uncle has a set of old clubs his father used when African Americans couldn't play, they have a magical element to them. Kenan challenges Douglas to a match whereby if he wins the projects are saved. Douglas accepts and loses. He then challenges Kenan to a best out of three contract, and if Kenan wins the people of the projects get to do whatthey've always wanted develop the golf course for personal interests (amusement park, picnics, barbeques petting zoo 'falling down reference.') Douglas gives Kenan 10,000 dollars to get better equipment and clothes so he and Kel lose their focus on the rematch. Douglas trains meticulously and wins. Kenan accepts sudden death and goes back to his old look, and his uncle's old clubs, in a dramatic finale defeats Douglas with a miraculous hole in one. Douglas now has peace with himself, and the African American community, and lets them develop the course as they see fit. At the end of the film a dying Douglas disregards the financial times, and sees in the sports pages that 'Rockmore wins big at first major event.' Comedy/drama/pathos you name it thatscript had it
2 Fatalities, 1. The wheel of death, when the contestant spins the wheel, death is the prize. 2. The price is too high, the contestant guesses the wrong total, the prize car falls on them, instant kill.
The thing that makes this fight a classic among comedy films (and especially Sandler's films) is that Bob Barker SELLS it. The way he throws his punches (and Sandler), the facial expressions, and his line delivery are all on point, and the fact that it's him in there throwing down (with the exception of the body slam and tumbling down the hill) clinches it.

The thing that makes this fight a classic among comedy films (and especially Sandler's films) is that Bob Barker SELLS it. The way he throws his punches (and Sandler), the facial expressions, and his line delivery are all on point, and the fact that it's him in there throwing down (with the exception of the body slam and tumbling down the hill) clinches it.
"Now ya gonna get it, Bobby." Still funny!

When he gets thrown down on his back like that, It looks so comically painful I wince whilst laughing everytime.
Saw this movie as a kid and I never knew he had picked up the golf club until I noticed it a few years back and made me laugh as well

Hahaha! Ow, that's so true it hurts. I didn't think anything could break my heart more than Reloaded and Revolutions, but Resurrections was so bad it was like they dug up the corpse of someone you loved and F-d it in front of you.
