The guy who played Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) later said he was really happy he took this part. He IRL likes golf and wherever he goes, to this day, courses let him play and hang out for free.
The gift that keeps on giving. I mean can you imagine being able to say "Shooter McGavin is playing in our course!"
That’s probably worth more than whatever his salary was for the movie. A lifetime of free golf, yes please
Free golfing? Shit I’ll take that.
He apparently doesn’t mind being called shooter either.
@@kishascape Sounds like he has the right approach. lean into it. Join the fun.
“I believe that is Mr. Gilmore’s!!!!” just fires me up.
Mr. Larson respects Happy after everything that happened.
The whole chase scene with Shooter fires me up especially the dude with the colorful pants.
I just noticed his shirt. "Guns don't kill people... I do."
"Gimme that jacket you BASTARD!"
@@SupermarketSweep777 "AW NO STOP!!"
Always loved that confident "No, I'll just beat him now"
He practiced on mini-golf
With Lee Trevino!
Same here.
He did his own “Nah I’d Win”
“Chubbs, I know you’re going to help me with this one.” This hits so hard now that we lost Carl Weathers. He delivered one of the best performances in comedy film history. Rest in peace Carl, you will never be forgotten. ❤
"Hey Happy. Nice jacket." ❤❤
Exactly what I thought
He broke two vertebrae in real life in a fall while filming this movie. He never really recovered from it.
Phenomenal dude hell of an actor huge loss.
It may hit harder if the rumored sequel is true!!
2:52 probably one of the funniest “NOOO” from a movie villain😂
The sheer sorrow, disbelief and anger melded into one tone
And way better than Robert Deniro’s “No!” At the end of god father 3
"JAWS" wasn't putting up with Shooter's shenanigans. He taught him a huge lesson!
His pain kills me. 😂😂
“and you can count, on me waiting for you in the parking lot”
Trying to reach the green from here Shooter?
That's not possible Sir
I beg to differ Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat little more than an hour ago
Yeah well moron good for Happy Gilm....oh my god!
If Jaws said that to me, I'd either apologise profusely, or run faster
@@tomious4257 lol im not sure at my strongest wich was strong and big is doing jack from shit his hands are enormous giants are giants f that
“I WILL get you shooter”
Ooooohhhh
In an interview, Chris McDonald said he was given 10 attempts to make his shot or they would do a cut away. He made it in about the 6th shot, which we see on film, so the crowd reaction is also real.
No way he made that bullshit on attempt 6
A lot of golf clubs also let him play for free 🤣🤣🤣
@@robertforsythe7613 I think he's talking about Shooter's putt at the start haha.
In an interview, Adam Sandler said he was given 10 attempts to make his shot or they would do a cut away. He made it in his 1st shot which we see on the film, so the crowd reaction was also real.
@robertforsythe7613 Here’s your sign
“I had to hit it off Frankenstein’s foot” 😂😂😂
RIP Carl Weathers 1948-2024 who passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 76
“Doug that’s impossible!”
I laugh every time when he tries to bargain with Doug. It’s like for a brief moment he was aware that this is a movie and Happy is the main character and not him. 😂
HOLD STILL! is one of the best lines and they cut it out 😂😂😂
Jaws will beat him badly
Lol dude I was bummed they cut that 😂
NOOOOO!
Guns don't kill people after all, he kills people.
the blood on that golden jacket is a nice trophy.
You know you're in a world of hurt when you got 'Jaws' running after you.
Unless your last name is "Bond".
thought jaws was a shark
@@davidcoombsbestmegadethalb9780 It's also a henchman in two Bond movies, played by the same actor in this clip.
@Skeppsvrak and the character is also the reason I couldn't beat the Aztec level on 00 Agent difficulty
@@mastod0n1 I'm pretty sure there's a way to beat that level without even engaging with Jaws, but maybe that was tricky.
'Hold still.' (Big suckerpunch to the face)
'NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!'
one of my fav films. RIP Richard Kiel ,Frances Bay, & Bob Barker
and Carl Weathers
I bet Bob Barker is still in disbelief about Happy Gilmore's golfing skills to this day, even after death. If only he was here to see this final round while he was still alive.
@@gameoholic1994 He was in the movie, I'm sure he saw it. He didn't die until August of last year.
I loved this film as a child. I laughed my ass off when I heard Shooter getting the crap kicked out of him.
I believe that’s Mr. Gilmore’s! *boss music begins playing*
(Running) Grrrrarrrrrrrrrrgghhh!
*I BELIEVE THAT’S MR GILMORE’S!!!!*
3:03 the way they both wrestle with the jacket on the hanger and Doug try’s to grab him before he scuttles off kills me off every time 😂😭
Proof that nothing is ever impossible. Keep on rocking Adam Sandler
As an old soul person for 1996, No matter how many times I watch this movie it always made me laugh so hard I play golf too.
What a great man Richard kiel was . 😆
May he rest in peace
From the most iconic henchman in all of the James Bond movies, to Happy Gilmore. Dude had a really long career.
@@bobdole4916 Also was in The Longest Yard the original one with Burt Renyolds. He was the one that had the scene going I think I broke his Fing NECK.
2:52
Squidward: What a baby!
“Nah, I’ll just beat him now.”
The amount of condescending confidence from Happy in this scene was incredible
"Chubbs, I know you're gonna help me with this one." And Chubbs DID help him!
Happy remembered Chubb's lesson on the mini-golf course.
"Its all in the hips." Indeed it was Chubbs. Indeed it was. Haha
Grizzly Adams DID have a beard.
One of the best uses for a Subway sign I have ever seen!
Christopher Mcdonald deserved an Oscar for this movie. His comedic acting and timing is beyond great.
Agree, I couldn't see anyone else in that role
"He has to play the ball as it lies. I had to hit it off of Frankenstein's fat foot..."
Your ball landing on someone's foot and some idiots knocking a tower onto the green are not the same
It is to someone who does not want to play fair.
Not to mention, you're entitled to free relief in either case
In real life, Shooter McGavin would have gotten a free drop, provided that it was the same general distance away from the hole. And for Happy Gilmore, the PGA would have temporarily suspended play due to the unnatural obstruction, cleaned that up in a giffy, and then resume play. It is implied to be the same in universe as well, but because Commissioner Dennis Dugen (who also directed the film) is shown to be a spineless coward, he pretty much concedes to Shooter's wishes after shriveling up when face-to-face with that other guy.
“As the ball lies? Or as the hazard lies?”
And that was about moving the ball. They're taking crap out of the way.
Happy 28th Anniversary, Happy Gilmore!🎉🎊
The look on Shooters face as the ball is making its way towards the hole is priceless. 😂
That last shot was like a mini-golf course run.
Which is fitting because Happy had to train at a mini-golf course to develop his putting game. Or do you not remember that scene?
@@Michael_Knight823 that was my thoughts exactly.
Wow that was the most epic shot I’ve seen In this movie I don’t think I couldn’t do that
huh
Don't mess with Jaws
STAY STILL!!!
Niiiiaaaaaahhhhhhhhoooooooorghhhh
Rip Carl weathers. The Apollo.
2:52 That defeated look on Shooter, almost made fall out of my chair laughing 😆
HEY I BELIEVE THATS MR GILMORE
Seeing that last shot was like watching that commercial for the mouse trap game
Yes, it's basically the same concept. If Rube Goldberg played golf, this would be the way.
2:48 Oh, my God! Incredible!
Best movie ever!
3:32 The movement of his arms tho.
Are you telling me that a golf ball just happens to fall like that? No! *He* orchestrated it! Happy!
Not sure how many will get this reference, but I love it!
He will always be Slippin' Happy
@@patdoran97 I get the reference, but that actor isn't even in this movie.
What is this, CHICANERY!?
Couldn’t be little Happy! Not our precious Happy!
And now that I think about it, crapping in a sunroof sounds completely on brand for Happy.
3:03 Utah Jazz history with Stockton and Malone’s career in a nutshell.
Not sure why, but im craving a cold cut combo
One can only imagine the beatdown that guy received, especially from the big one. 🤣🤣🤣
Shooters reaction to the game winning putt 😂😂😂😂 how??!?! 😂
Funny movie. One of Adam Sandlers' best.
Love how Doug looks just as happy for Gilmore too. Big smile on, casually walking up, "this crazy bastard did it."
Watching this now and him asking for chubs helps hits hard.
Now *THAT'S* how you play mini-golf.
I always like to think about what happened to Shooter afterwards. Can you imagine the amount of trouble he got in once everything was spilled and it was revealed that he had paid a fan to heckle Happy, that he HIRED THE SAME FAN TO DO A HIT-AND-RUN ON HAPPY, and then on top of all that, the incredible meltdown he had at the end where he stole Happy's jacket and ran off?
I like to think he was permanently banned from the Tour and spent a lot of time in prison :-)
Likely what would have happened is the the heckler having committed some serious shit infront of HUNDREDS of witnesses with security that likely swarmed his ass as he was leaving he was getting a 30+ prison stint and immediately sold Shooter out after that.
@@chromeshellking I actually don't think he would have sold Shooter out. He really wanted to be his friend. And I think Shooter would have taken care of him one way or another. Hush money payment and friendship. Then when he got out of prison, Shooter probably would have taken him to the Sizzler.
@@aznnp77 You would be surprised at hearing a few decade prison sentence will suddenly put things in perspective. Though his fanatical devotion MAY make him stupid so I have to say fair to that.
So all the physical assaults that Happy committed during the movie were just hunky dory? You Happy apologists are such idiots just because it's Adam Sandler playing him, I bet you think Jack And Jill was comedic genius, right?
We might find out in Happy Gilmore 2
Shooter should have stayed with the T-Birds after graduation.
God bless the stunt men on that tower
Happy Gilmore's lucky shot!
I wonder how bad Shooter came out of that looking considering what Happy looked like with his experience with Mr. Lawrsen originally
Must be far worse.
If we're being honest he was probably never the same physically after that beating and was forced into retirement even if the tour didn't kick him off for trying to steal the jacket.
Bear in mind that Happy didn't have a massive angry mob attacking him as well as Mr Larson.
The way Happy says "oh my god" after successfully making that incredible putt was funny
I love how after the tower falls Happy's caddy is still casually chomping on the ball-marker cracker.
hahaha Jaws Screming and running to hurt Shooter hahahaa
Classic
A great example of Chekhovs Gun not only was it a funny part of Happy Gilmores training with Chub but just as funny and made relevant in the final showing 😁
RIP Carl Weathers & Joe Flaherty.
"He got a few lucky shots in, but I still think I won the fight!"
...said Shooter McGavin with his entire body in a cast.
My high school drama teacher was an extra for the course scenes in this movie. He said that Christopher McDonald was one of the nicest people there once the camera was off, and Richard Kiel was one of the most miserable.
Let's be honest, Christopher carried the whole movie for Adam.
True but the Adam Sandler-Bob Barker fight was one of the funniest things I have ever seen lol 😃🤣 Bob Barker winning was just epic @@snarzetax
You know you are in trouble when Jaws is chasing you and starts kicking your ass.
I love the big guy's shirt, I need one for myself
just get one printed, I did.
Just google it. I can’t remember the store, but I got the same one for Christmas a few years ago.
2:48
Happy: Oh, my God!
Honestly the old movies were really well done comparitivly
hey what do you mean by old im only wait a sec your right
It hurts to never say anything hateful to anyone ever again you hurt just as bad as he did when you’re finished.
Greatest movie villain of all time...
A hilarious one
I don't know about that, but he is definitely a great comedy villain.
@@trueblue6201 I'm being a bit hyperbolic of course. My REAL vote would be for Palpatine.
I do remember seeing a poll in a magazine some years ago that listed the greatest movie villains and Shooter was in like the top 10 lmao.
Believe it or not...Nurse Ratchet was number 1, beat out Darth Vader who was no.2
@guyledouche7939 It is a subjective question. A list I remember seeing had Darth Vader as the third best villain. Number 1 was Hannibal Lecter and number 2 was Norman Bates.
@@trueblue6201 oh of course. it's all a matter of taste and opinion. Shooter is just soooo easy to hate in this film. I think that's what makes a great villain. Not someone "complicated" or "fleshed out." Just a right bastard that everyone can have contempt for with ease.
I swear, Julie Bowen has had so many facial surgeries since this movie that she doesn’t look anything like this today
She kinda looks better in some ways
lets go to a happy place @@Chugargonfan
"You eat pieces of shit for breakfast" I choked on my popcorn at the movies over that comeback

The bit with the clown laughing at happy is my favourite part… YOUR GONNA DIE CLOWN!! YEAH I DONT SEE YOU LAUGHING NOW! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
...the gym guy running in the 80's gym pants. 😄😄😄😄😄😄
Mr. Larson starts the charge! lol didnt think Mr.Larson would respect Happy so much til then
Jaws from Bonds with the tackle
Very funny film
0:05 I love that movie
Geometry is everything sometimes 😅
Shooter Mac Gavin, great character.
Definitely one of the most underrated comedies of all time!
Best kind of videos. Would love some lead climbing aswell. But that needs another person again😅
I can just imagine Doug Thompson (the commissioner) meeting with Shooter after he was beaten up by the mob for stealing Mr. Gilmore's jacket.
"I hope it was worth it, Shooter, because you're never going to get another shot at that jacket again. You are banned from the tour FOR LIFE!"
"Also they finally caught the guy that ran Happy over and he told the cops he was a friend of yours, so good luck with that mess"
And plus in the next scene Doug presents Happy Gilmore the gold jacket to him and he says "It gives me great pleasure to present this gold jacket to the real winner of the pro championship to Mr. Happy Gilmore" and the audience applauded for him and Doug added "Congratulations Happy try in on" and Happy tries in on and it fitted him good and then gives a great speech and then it would of showed Happy and company pulling up to Happy's Grandma's house.
What a difficult shot to win the jacket and then shooter tries to steal it and run away with it.
No way !! I didn't see that lol
And got a well deserved asswhuppin for it 😂
Because Shooter was a sore loser
And Jaws chases him 😂😂
Everyones head moving is my fav part b
Very genuine reaction, this isn’t even acting rt here 👌👌

Chubbs was definitely smiling up there after Happy made that shot.
Hold Still!!!
Shooter was an incredible heel.
Golf course Golf ⛳️ 😎 👌 🙄 😉 😜 ⛳️
Now they want a sequel. It might be Shooters kid vs. Happy's kid. Like Creed 2 but with golf
And thats when crazy golf was invented
2:17 Your Welcome
I CANT BELIEVE THATS THE MOM FROM MODERN FAMILY
