I think the worst most horrible death this game caused, was the the killing of hundreds of dreams and hopes for Banjo-Threeie--- that Gruntilda Mentioned on the ending. That was the worst massacre of a game seuqel we could ever had XD
I just find Grunty's evolution from a typical parody of Queen Grimhilde to an absolute tyrant over the course of the series to be quite jarring. In Banjo Kazooie she had a lair and overlooked Spiral Mountain from her massive castle built inside the cliff face. However by Tooie it seems Grunty's influence has grown drastically to the point where she now controls the entire island. This is shown in the name of the island by Tooie. Isle O Hags. Hags. Grunty is the hag it's referring to. This essentially means that Grunty usurped leadership and stripped Jingaling of all authority he had over the island. This is why the island is in such a dark dismal state throughout the entire game. Because of Grunty's influence. Crime is at an all time high too and all the various bosses and enemies you fight are all either minions of Grunty or criminals that are taking advantage of Grunty's rule to cause trouble on their own accord. Jingaling sees himself as a king but he is that in name only in Tooie. Grunty is the actual ruler of the isle and rules from her new tower she built at the island's highest point. What's even more disturbing is Grunty's complete and total disregard for all life as a ruler. She is willing to blast the entire island with the Big O Blaster which would essentially kill everyone turning them into zombies and creating a dead decayed wasteland. You actually see a taste of this with Jingaling's palace. Kind of glad Tooie doesn't have a bad ending for a Game Over now don't you? Grunty doesn't care for even her followers. She constantly beats and abuses Klungo over his constant inability to defeat Banjo and by the third fight she's so fed up with his failures that she's like "You either succeed or I feed you to a monster" (Probably those Dragundas that inhabit the swamps of Isle). Klungo got so disfigured from his beatings his wife actually left him because he no longer looked handsome to her. Grunty also punishes Mingella and Blobelda her sisters for failing to beat Banjo in a quiz show by dropping freaking weights on their head. Of course it's played for laughs considering this game is like a cartoon but it's still messed up in that the two younger hags are basically Grunty's sisters and she just flattened them. But her abuse towards her minions is just one thing. What she does to the people who oppose her is far worse. Let's see. She shoots Jingaling to test her blaster zombifying him and turning his pet Toots into a pile of ash, shoots a fireball at Banjo's house frying Bottles and causing him to have a literal out of body experience as he's now a ghost. Sure you bring back Bottles and Jingaling but there is one victim or should I say victims of Grunty that you don't save. Grunty on her rampage through the isle with the Hag 1 runs over the Grey Jinjo house crushing them all. Outside you see a sign acting as a memorial to pay tribute to them as what remains of their house is just there. A harsh reminder of what happens to those that oppose Gruntilda's reign. Going by that the Black Jinjos had 9 members of their family it is likely that their were 10 Grey Jinjos and Grunty just runs them all over without a care. Banjo Kazooie was about saving Banjo's sister. Banjo Tooie was about getting revenge for Banjo's fallen friends and liberating an entire island from a crazed hag and her armies. Definitely a step up from the first game.
Hey everybody- with Banjo-Kazooie's Smash announcement I've been thinking about the series again, and wanted to share a regional piece of trivia I learned after making this video! In the Japanese version of Banjo-Tooie, the ending cutscene with the protagonists kicking around Grunty's head is different. In an attempt at censorship, the gang plays with a tied up sack made out of her clothing instead of her skull- which is even worse IMO, because the eyeball still falls out of it (implying her remains are all kept in a pouch...). Pretty gross :D Got this information from The Cutting Room Floor's website, and as featured on Censored Gaming's TH-cam channel. Both definitely worth checking out!
Hey thanks so much for your kindness :D sorry I didn't see this in TH-cam Studio/notifications, I would've responded! As for the amount of views, I'm grateful for how the Banjo-Kazooie videos performed, but I do always wish for the channel to continue growing. All I can do is work hard on videos and hope they take off :D I've got an actual schedule going now, so that may help!
You forgot to mention that in the end when bottles is revived when he gets home he eats banjo and kazooie's pet fish, this is confirmed because when bottles appears in the credits it says bottles and royston (the fish's name) suggesting that royston is also in the shot
Recently played through this game and was surprised to learn about one of Koozie's kinks. After you defeat a boss, I think maybe in grunty industries, maybe earlier, the boss says "sorry about all that rough stuff earlier" and Kazooie replies "it's okay, I liked it." I thought for sure you would include that bit in here. Was so funny!
Actually studies have shown that the winners in Pitz (Mayan ballgame) were the ones that got killed, as the Mayans beleived death on the ballcourt would send a soul straight to paradise
Do you have a source for where you got that information? Because you're right, there is discussion and evidence for what you're describing- but the thing is, as far as I can see in research there simply isn't enough proof for a conclusion to be drawn. We can only really say with certainly that both religion and sacrifice played a major role- everything I described in this video is based on my own readings on Mayan mythology (which in itself only paints a picture, much is lost in oral tradition) and what can be discerned through archaeological analysis like the ballcourt carvings shown.
@@ThaneGaming I found it while studying for a paper but I dont have any good way of transferring the source to my phone. But it did just say that its speculated though, not concrete fact, I probably should have worded my comment better
3:53 probably a coincidence but the second to last row spells N I G, then in the other puzzle in Kazooie, it spells G E R S near the top of the puzzle.diagonally. Both games were in production at the same time too.
Sparky Sharky I couldn’t forget! That’d be pretty interesting. I have some videos to put out first but I’d love to do that and revisit SPM :) maybe talk about that unused ladder Pixl too!
You’re awesome for saying so! I really enjoyed making this one, Tooie was one of my favorites to cover on Dark Aspects. The devs really went wild with its more mature moments 😄
The reason I so strongly associated the ending with Mayan culture is because the entire first world of the game is based around it, but you're right--I talked about it longer than needed 😅
Sebastian Quiroga Sexually explicit content is reserved for M rated games. According to the ESRB’s website, a T rating is giving to a game that may have “suggestive themes” and “crude humor”: definitely fitting for Banjo-Tooie.
In the cheat section with the reversed “arse” the rule spells out “wodz” in reverse. When put to and bottom together it’s arsewodz (asswods/asswads)(like d*#kwads) kinda think they belong together 😂
Wow.........If Rare could get away with this many discusting jokes in Banjo-Tooie, then maybe it's a good thing that Banjo-Threeie was cancelled back then 😨. (Half joking by the way )

Some of these are funny, but in all honesty Banjo Kazooie isn't and has never been "clever". It's really more brazen than anything.
