MrPatricioG yes I enjoyed his music to the problem though is not crying when you're listening to him the problem is you think you're here listening to Chet Baker
Chet, for all his troubles, was always like a dear friend you love and cherish in spite of the problems.... the lost times, the disappointments... none of it mattered... it was Chet and we loved him till the end. Rest in peace buddy. I hope all your sufferings are over.
All his troubles are way over.....you may not believe this but he came to me in my dream. I was walking in this meadow and he was sitting on the side of this beautiful sloping hill and he was eating a sandwich slowly.... as I walked past him he just looked up at me and smiled....what a great guy !!!!
Damn. I found this gem years ago when I was out of a psych ward. Those were rough years. That's the past now. For all I know, it may only be a dream. :)
My friend passed away earlier this year in a work accident at the age of 17. It was only 7 days before that happened that he shared this song. It was the last song he shared. So beautiful.
Don't even know how to respond to this. He was well beyond his years if he not only was aware of this beautiful composition, but was wise enough to share it as well. I'll pray for his soul, and for yours.
"My friend passed away earlier this year in a work accident at the age of 17. It was only 7 days before that happened that he shared this song. It was the last song he shared. So beautiful." Tell your friend when you reunite with him in Heaven that his taste in music is the very best of the very best.
For all we know We may never meet again Before we go Make this moment live again We won't say goodbye Until the last minute I'll hold out my hand And my heart will be in it For all we know This might only be a dream We come and we go Like the ripples, like the ripples in the stream So baby, love me, love me tonight Tomorrow was made for some Oh, but tomorrow But tomorrow may never, never come For all we know Yes, tomorrow may never, never come For all we know
A really soulful, deeply emotional rendition of one of the greatest and saddest and most philosophical love songs ever written. This song is one of the great masterpieces of the American Song Book and these musicians all do it justice.
Well, it's kind of a hookup song, not so philosophical really. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, only not "one of the most philosophical love songs ever written" to me.
I just discovered chet at 67, unbelievably a jazz lover why didn't someone tell me? Proof that its never too late to excel in the art you love above all. Someone will hear, and live on to tell of you. Marina Garcia Gelpe
Me too at 66. Just discovered him and listened to jazz my whole life. He will get me through the Pandemic. I'm in love! Hard to know which is sweeter the trumpeter or the singer.
Too often I see comments like yours from people of your age. Considering movies have been made too...Chet deserved much more love during his life. I was only 10 when he felt out that window.
The depth and quality of his hauntingly beautiful voice and horn bring you to places in your heart and soul you have never visited until Chet. You can't help but know that his voice and music will pass down through generations to come. He's in a class all of his own! Maria Maria
I had the priviledge of meeting Chet Baker in Tulsa, Ok in the early eighties. I have been a fan from that day forward! There was nothing ordinary about him. Not the way he lived his life or played the trumpet! He was indeed one of the "Best of the Best" and his music will be around for eternity......R.I.P. you are missed.
Dancing with my loved one at 2 am the last song in the club. No matter who sings it, Chet, Nat, Dinah, they are all gone God bless them. And now my loved one is gone too. But for all we know.....
I've always loved this song.... but, omg, his voice is so poignant, he makes those lyrics so true.... Add his horn & Harold Danko's piano & it's a perfect recipe to melt your heart. Beautiful.
In the hush of midnight's shadowed tune, Chet's trumpet weeps beneath the moon. Notes like teardrops softly fall, Echoes of a melancholy call. In smoky rooms where shadows dance, Chet's horn weaves a forlorn romance. A solitary sigh, a lonesome cry, As melodies of heartache amplify. His trumpet whispers tales untold, Of love that's young, and love grown old. Through muted brass, a mournful plea, A requiem for lost ecstasy. A lonely street, a dim-lit bar, Chet's music drifts like a fading star. In every chord, a soul laid bare, A sonnet of sorrow suspended in air. Each breath he takes, a heavy sigh, A wistful echo, a muted goodbye. Through amber notes, the pain unfolds, A symphony of sorrows, stories untold. The night embraces the mournful sound, As Chet's trumpet weeps, unbound. A ballad etched in shadows deep, In the music of Chet, the sadness seeps.
I love Chet Baker! I remember hearing him once in awhile on the radio, they didn't play his music alot publicly! When I heard his music later on, I cried with all the tragic memories of life that he makes you deal with, straight up - like he's the music angel making you release pain with his deep smooth sultry rooted magic!
I’m envolved in tears! This is so beautiful! May this melody guide you to a place of tranquility and reflection. May it remind you of the love that surrounds you, the beauty that exists in every moment, and the strength that lies within you.❤
This song happened to me for the most part... her and I had a very deep, very intense emotional & physical relationship. It went nowhere as it should, she was married and it happened mostly like the song....she was gorgeous and beautiful ... oh well, lesson learned.
I have loved this song forever, I used to sing it without feeling, it was just words when I performed, albeit words with feeling, but now, alone, the words mean so much more, deepened with the thoughts that this great musician is gone from us now. RIP, Chet, you will ALWAYS be loved and remembered for the great music you gave us. What a gifted man he was. His soft, sensual voice, ALWAYS right on pitch, and his horn, along with Danko and group, combine to make this a very memorable recording. THANK YOU FOR POSTING!
Heart breaking invocation of first love remembered from a distance. At least that is what I get from it . . . though I never experienced such a thing . . . . alas!
r all we know We may never meet again Before we go Make this moment live again We won't say goodbye Until the last minute I'll hold out my hand And my heart will be in it For all we know This might only be a dream We come and we go Like the ripples, like the ripples in the stream So baby, love me, love me tonight Tomorrow was made for some Oh, but tomorrow But tomorrow may never, never come For all we know Yes, tomorrow may never, never come For all we know
I think that it is quite poetic that this is one of his last performances before he passed away. As the description have mentioned, it seemed like magic that this entire performance is more like a summation of the artist's works, really.
This video should be required viewing for all our young people to show them how drugs (heroin in Chet's case) can wreck a life. Look at the deterioration of this once very handsome young Chet Baker to the old before his time face that shows the agony of drug addiction. Chet was such a wonder musician and vocalist, such a sin how we lost this giant talent. Thank God we have his recordings like this lovely tune to listen to. Thank you for posting - its such a loving tribute to a guy we all loved his music.
Yes, for the life of me, I can't understand this. His talent is priceless. How I wish I can just sing!! I ONLY SING WHEN AM A BIT TIPSY. I'm so inhibited. Yes, thank you for sharing
Bijou Austin That was the thing with Chet's addiction. A person couldn't possibly go out on a bandstand night after night and lay bare his heart and soul without having it destroy them. Yet for all that sensitivity, a lot of people in his life suffered abuse of one kind or another from him. He's such a paradox. I don't think you could write a fictional character any more strange and complex than Chet Baker.
Because great art comes out of the friction between great light and great darkness - that's why, guys. I have known (and know) world class artists, who were questionable characters in real life. It took me years to understand it.
Well that is just lovely. Add Donny Hathaway and Lilah Hathaway and you have an amazing trifecta. I didn't know that Chet had done this song. Thank you so much for posting!
Oh and by the way, many artists down the ages had less than "moral lives" but they gave us so much back in their music, painting, prose, poetry, inventions etc. So who are we to judge? Thanks again, Chet.
A wonderful friend of mine recommended this video and song and after listening and watching it, I wanted to not only thank you for uploading it, but also praise you for such an excellent job. Truly outstanding...thank you.
When Mel Torme first heard Chet vocalising, he asked him to promise not to sing and Torme would promise never to play trumpet. Says it all, Wonderful! !

I'm just sitting here with my eyes closed at 3:30 am, listening to this for the first time and tears are flowing down my face. That's all.
MrPatricioG yes I enjoyed his music to the problem though is not crying when you're listening to him the problem is you think you're here listening to Chet Baker
Same but seven years later and it's 4:05 AM
Be grateful you found this treasure. Few do.
Right as it may...
I’m sitting here at 2:30 a.m. and loving this amazing tune.
I want this song to my funeral! I have turned 80.....

Love Chet Baker. Exquisite singing and playing. Undeniable💯🔥🔥🔥

Can't believe I'm 52 and never heard of this man !!!!! As I sit here crying like a teenage school girl!!!!
Discovering Chet is like losing your virginity all over again. You might want to read his biography "Deep in a Dream."
Better late than never. I cry every time I hear this song.
Stan Modjesky Thank u for the book.
Welcome to the party.
God ! he allways make´s me cry too man

He Sounds like a mature soul to appreciate this song at 17. That’s remarkable and what a terrible loss to the world.
For all we know
We may never meet again
Before we go
Make this moment live again
We won't say goodbye
Until the last minute

Make this moment "sweet" again, not "live" again.

How true. The way Chet sings it it becomes almost Shakesperian. And that trumpet solo almost kills me everytime.
Well, it's kind of a hookup song, not so philosophical really. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, only not "one of the most philosophical love songs ever written" to me.
Brave and beautiful. Masculine, yet tender and ever so wise. Complete. Whole. Sad and uplifting all at once. Masterpiece.
You break my heart over and over, Chet, and I suppose you always will...
REST IN PEACEMR. CHET BAKER. I STILL LOVE YOU SIR. AGAIN REST IN PIECE MY DEAR FRIEND
Always Chet
I'm pretty sure this is what perfection sounds like.

Everyone's experience is different. I heard of him because of Christa Päffgen & Bruce Weber. Whatever.
WE LOVE YOU CHET BAKER. YOU WERE MAGNIFICENT. REST IN PEACE, SIR

What do you mean by the depth of his voice?
@@Chloe-lu4xk listen to his very early singing, then this - his voice deeper, fuller, older, full of the depth of life
@@arlenemassey7286 kind of like Billie Holiday (the greatest in my view)....like a very fine wine.....

What you wrote made me cry. When did she go?
Try June Christy's version.
If you want a pop soul ballad version, don't forget Donny Hathaway.
And Abbey Lincoln’s version is heartbreaking.

Woah. I haven't listened to this one that much to acknowledge it, but holy shit. This is 8 minutes of pure greatness.
Destroys me every time I listen to it. And it feels GREAT!!!
At the end of the day, no matter how good or bad the day was, I always put on Chet Baker. For the sake of my soul and for the calmness I need.
The applause sealed my eyes. Great version to hear for first time. Thank you for posting this recording :)

I would like to dedicate this to Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Nothing to add of such great saying before me. Its a delicious to hear him.
Dripping with sorrow - melancholy and frail.
And strength. A very masculine piece.
Such beautiful jazz. ❤️
I used to play upright bass like that, but not quite as precise. Sometimes I was close.
Probably could come close to that, if I had a jazz club to play in with lots of roses. 🌹
Fantastic💗
I told you that I will always love you Chet!! Why did U go away and leave me here so lonely, baby??
Just perfect..

Obrigada! thank you!
I especially like Harold Danko's piano work throughout the entire concert.
It was truly amazing!
TIME MEASURED-how rare it is.
Te llega a los huesos. hermoso.
Esta melodia:confieso....quedo sin palabras...
This song always brings to mind "Once Upon Time." Just the sentiment, not the melody or lyric.
Hey yo, understand a journeyman musician’s life is not all glitz and glamour, but a daily grind just to survive as a full time player.💯
this is so beautiful! thank you!
great!!! outstanding
They've made a film of his life. Starring Ethan Hawke as Chet. I've loved him since the 60s, such a tragic life, killed by heroin. Bless him. Xxx
watch another film called "Let's Get Lost". also the movie staring ethan hawke isnt of chet bakers whole life really. more a biopic of his later days. mostly from the time his jaw got fucked to his death i think? i cant remember
Its from when his teeths were knocked out to his comeback :)
Wes Ballantine let's get lost is my favorite by him. Ethan hawks does not do Chet any justice. Chet is way too complex. And mercurial.
That movie w/Ethan Hawke is what brought me to Chet
Most romantic song ever.
Cool! Danke Chet
Wonderful...
