It's pretty clear Yoo Ah started his addiction from prescription pills during his benign bone tumor treatment and it went from there. Most Western audiences would sympathise, he hurt no-one but himself. South Korea though apparently LOVES cancelling people in pain. And we wonder why celebrity deaths are so high in SK

Exactly, it baffles me how they react to drug allegations and addictions, especially. It's one of the most stressful jobs that it would be surprising to find out that a celeb is not on drugs and alcohol. I get it. He's not setting the greatest example by breaking the law, but it is no right to shame anyone who faces addictions.
He deserves to be punished for the crime, and he shouldn't be babied for his addiction, but attacking him and calling his all sorts of things to berate him will not make things better.
Bet they were the same people calling him classy and every compliment you can think of... sigh keyboard warriors think these stars are not human.

People are not their parents, should we hold them accountable for what they had no part or control of? If you are an honest fan, you would only wish them health and happiness and stop being selfish about who they love in their personal lives. Fans getting angry because their Idol has fallen in love with someone are obsessed and entitled people who care nothing about the person they claim to adore.

This is the one thing I cannot stand about Korea's cancel culture. It is like who died and made these "netizens" the purveyor of who is perfect and acceptable vs. who should be condemned for life. The scales of justice are distinctly out of whack regarding the judgment of their peers and elders. Especially now, we live in a day and age where everything we do is up for discernment since we live in a world of cameras, videotaping, and live broadcasts. What makes things worse is that what is said is exceptionally pejorative!

    • @gillianomeagher1221
      @gillianomeagher1221 ปีที่แล้ว

The issue too is that a lot 'f this "netizen" rubbish is actually paid posts by competitor agencies, and then the media in SK are paid to "stumble" across accusation posts, and amplify them. The irony is for all the conservative judgment, it's a very corrupt media system.

The fact Seungi is on this list is the most frustrating and preposterous thing ever! He is a grown 36 year old man, he can make this decision for himself and doesn't need a bunch of strangers to order him on how he should live his life. Especially after everything he has already been through! The only worry I have is his in laws using him as a scapegoat to cover their behinds. I don't doubt Dain but her parents are a whole other issue! Baffles me how others can feel so compelled to be so judgemental and horrible over someone else's personal life and even go to great lengths to purposely sabotage and gaslight them if they don't comply which is exactly what happened/still happening to Seungi. Speaks volumes about their own mental states! Have to say though, I admire his strength and loyalty to stand by his wife and not break up with over public scrutiny. It must be so hard for him but he is dealing with it.
Parents messed up bad but it also reveals some real issues with the korean justice and law system. I know that he did have to pay some fines and whatnot but what for? If there were that many victims and evidence for it why not order the guy to compensate them all if they did indeed take all that money? A lousy jail sentence and allowing them to keep all that wealth is so absurd to me and I definitely empathise with the anger over that. This has been an issue since 2011. That is plenty of time to petition, send out protest trucks and whatnot to make some effort of change. Even the daughters, who despite their parents, have been allowed to have somewhat decent acting careers. Dain was in a drama called my golden life that had whopping 40 something %ratings. Dains comment section on social media was open and she was nowhere near harassed at the level Seungi is now. Now suddenly Seungi is in picture and people are outraged again? 'fans' have the money to send protest trucks around his neighbourhood to humiliate him but can't put the same effort towards the actual offender. People like to pick and choose who they can exert their moral superiority over and Seungi is the easy punching bag. Even now, I don't see any korean netizens addressing the step dad directly or even bashing Dain, it's all Seungi Seungi Seungi..... gosh they are insufferable!

Some of these could be true, obviously, the victim should always be believed. But i find the one about the director of the glory a bit irrelevant. If it happened in 1996, thats 27 years ago - why is it coming up now? Seems they just want to take him down and make it seem ironic that hes made a successful series about school bullying when having done it himself. Besides, isnt this guy like 50 years old? This is the reason why suicide is prevalent in Korea. The bullying from fans not even fans just people on these celebs private lives is just crazy and they're no less than racist or bullies themselves
that feel hating on these celebs will make them feel better about themselves, as if these celebs don't have mental and emotional private issues to tackle on their own , these fans just make it worse by adding their own criticism!!! Why should lee da in and lee seungi be cancelled?!
Why are people acting like they actually care about the families that went bankrupt when hating on her and her family makes them horrible and terrible people too ,if they're hating on lee dain because of her father and because he stole some people's happiness ,then they're basically the same with him because they don't want lee dain or lee seungi to be happy, their hate is stealing their happiness so they're also robbers too . The fact that they think she shouldn't experience happiness because of her family shows how idiotic their mindsets are, what if her father has changed, aren't they normal humans like you that can falter. Who the hell do they think they are to think they can choose Lee seungi's happiness for him. Haters that think like this should stop being miserable, stop being obsessed with these celebrities private lives when they don't even know and care about your own dirty private life. One day we would all die, beefing with people that don't know you and aren't running the same race with you shows how horrible and and miserable their mindsets are!!!!

Irony associated with Glory is most shocking and disgusting,it's like abusers making money out of victims plight. Insane how people have conveniently ignored this issue and still supporting that show,it reminds of that episode of 'Tomorrow' ',where a reporter wants to commit suicide because she is forced to interview her school bully, writing a book related to that issue. Tragic to be honest.

The Glory is an amazing show, and shouldn't be cancelled because of the producer. The whole cast was screened for bullying throughout their academic history and they were all clean. It's unfortunate the producer didn't get screened. However, there will be more kdramas about bullying in the future as it's very prevelant in Korea so let's hope every member of the cast AND crew are screened before joining the team.

If it was hard stuff I'd maybe suggest he get some help dealing with his issues, but don't crucify him for trying to cope with life. There are a few people who seem to enjoy 'exposing' others for doing stupid or unkind stuff when in school, never, ever of course having done anything bad themselves.
Often these exposures come out years after the events and only when the exposed person is well known. I wonder why that is and why attack the innocent offspring of someone who has or had a bad reputation?
Some of the reports are true but as someone who is looking in from the outside, there seems to be a lot of often vindictive revenge in some of these stories.

Honestly Korea makes a huge deal about cancelling actors or singers if they make a mistake or blame someone in the family for another’s actions, they hate bully culture! Yet that’s all they do to to said stars and there lack of forgiveness is something I think maybe they should work on eg why should Lee Sung Gi not marry his GF now wife because of something her uncle has done, what exactly does that have to do with her ? Absolutely nothing yet they will bully her and him constantly for another’s actions. I think sometimes these K Stars are in need of help not bullying and judgments. The whole drugs thing if that lad was upping his dose of medication and mixing with other drugs because of a health problems or for whatever reason rather than sending hate constantly towards these stars , maybe it would be better to get them into a treatment centre and give them help and support. Although I definitely don’t agree with any type of bullying full stop and I wouldn’t support someone who has done that but I feel that people need not to jump to conclusions until all the facts are proven and known

Nam joo hyuk and ji soo are best friends but both were accused as bullies. Ji soo is canceled i think but im not sure about joo hyuk. Ji soo also admitted he was a bully but i have a feeling like hes the one being bullied? Idk. But why all these things came out when their at their peak popularity and also after so many years? 🤔
