I am in complete awe of the masons and artisans who designed, built and decorated these beautiful places of worship. To think that they often made up new techniques for building and everything else they did as part of church construction and decoration is mind boggling. Thank you for what I consider to be the best explanation and description of the evolution of medieval churches of all that I have read/seen.
The Medieval Period has always fascinated me since I was very young. At the beginning of the pandemic I got a very bad case of Covid and have been dealing with Long Covid since. To pass the time I began an intensive study of this period of time from many angles (music, architecture, history, literature, religion etc). Your videos add another truly excellent dimension to my study. Thank you so very much for providing such an excellent source for all things Medieval.

Thank you. I wish I had a higher budget to truly do it justice but this is the best I could do with what I have available haha

My pleasure! Yes I hope to make a few more abbey videos. I have so many to do but I want to regularly post my other content too. So many videos, so little time!

A very good video. That wasn't St Martin's Church at 3.51. A nice speaking voice but with a tendency to drop Ts.

3:51 is the Jesus Chapel in Norwich Cathedral. And thanks, I'm from Norfolk so we don't pronounce our Ts very much haha

6:03 "listen to the priest give sermons from the altar"? I find it hard to believe that a priest was ever giving a sermon from the altar! Usually that's from a pulpit, or in more modest spaces without such a structure, simply the nave
