Cool video. Are you planning on keeping the series going? Would be interesting to use the budget from each video to upgrade certain clubs or invest the money into the golf game (lessons, training aids, etc)
Definitely keep it going! And do it in like small steps/increments, what if you had 100-200 quid (reasonable birthday/Christmas present), what would be the first thing you'd get new etc? Keep this a real-life scenario for a lot of people.
One of your best videos tbh , kind of a back to basics no fancy kit , joyful watch , do you think it also maybe it shows there's also a big reliance on yardage kit these days ??
What a superb little vlog/story that was. Also just shows what a decent player with “inferior” equipment can do if you understand the limitations of the tools available… brilliant 👏
Just smiling all the way through this...everyone needs to see this video to understand why PF is the best golf youtuber out there. The content is unreal and so good. Deserves so much more views and subs!
This year I picked up a mint set of Callaway X-12 irons for £54, Ping G Driver for £80, TM Rescue for £30, 2 vokeys for £50 and an YES putter for £25. Add a sleeve of PRO V's and that's £250 total. Good enough equipment for even the best players and useable for beginners.
Love this idea and shows the best clubs make very little difference to most golfers! One suggestion tho there's lots of free apps for yardage I wouldn't have been against you using one of them as most people have smartphones anyway!
Never ceases to amaze me how you hit it so well, but look like you're swining 30% effort at 50mph 😂😂 Love the content, and massive swing goals. Great video Peter!
I like love the concept!!! Takes out the stigma around the new gears are always better while the price is exponentially growing for each item. Awesome!!
Pete loved this one. Nice to see you having fun playing golf on camera. Well less stressed cause if you did terrible it be the clubs, also like in the video your "must be the clubs" when doing well.
Peter - love these types of videos. My favorite video was the pound shop set you got and cleaned in your kitchen sink and made a birdie on the first hole.
Heaton Park is my local course so it was fantastic to see you play there. I miss those local course vlogs you used to do around Manchester with Andy, Rick & Matt.
Nothing wrong with the big “winter tees”. You should always find them as they spring off the winter mat ! Loved the idea of the video. I remember watching the original one and was wondering when this would appear. Really enjoyed it.
I like relatable golf videos. Bob does golf is fading out of the relatable a bit with their high end sponsors and improving golf game. Nice to see affordable equipment hacking around the course..
Pete, that was so funny. Getting that much under par with "inferior" clubs was hilarious to watch. You were driving so accurately - and let's not mention how good your putting was with that primative putter. Decathalon could have a bumper Xmas at this rate! Seriously though, great video and just goes to show the golf gods do indeed have a sense of humour!
I swear I watched that video like 6 times, I have been really looking forward to this video. I just picked the sport back up after years. I spent most of the summer buying and flipping clubs I got a decent set now and found an insane deal on a set for my wife.
I've not read any of the previous comments, and someone may have said this already, but as I watched you with this box set of clubs, you played well because you were the most relaxed... you were not stressed out with high expectations and you moved through the ball with the ease of a very skilled player. If you can do that with your fitted, normal set of clubs, I would not doubt that you would find yourself teeing off in the Open.
Peter!! Keep playing those clubs!! PLEASE!! I want to know how long you can keep playing great golf with THAT set of clubs!! Don't change a thing... and when you play next with Matt (or Rick or Andy) play those too... but don't tell them beforehand!!
great video Pete, another great way of showing how anyone can take up golf whenever they want. I especially love those tees, reminds me of Mr Barlow from Golf Mates with his tees on a string lol
That was a great watch, really good concept. Peter Finch is right by the way, slowing down the swing a hair really does improve his accuracy and shot shape. A lesson for us all!
Best golf content on TH-cam currently Peter. Love all your videos. Your attitude towards the game is what brings me back. Other TH-cam golfers have gone too serious and negative about their game
IMO a Garmin golf watch is a must for a beginner. You get basic yardages to greens, bunkers and water. It also records your shots to give you accurate distances which will help with club selection and knowing your gapping.
So Pete, by the 6th hole I was laughing, in a good way, so much I could barely see the screen. Absolutely brilliant mate. Best chuck those butter knife, Japanese game killers over the fence and then follow them up with the red carbon woods and bank loan Pro V’s. Keep the putter though, you spent a lot of time sorting that. Let’s see more courses laid to waste courtesy of the box set and a bag of pebbles. Can’t wait!
Pete! Your putting with these cheap clubs are much better - and for a simple reason - your tempo. With your ordinary putters you are SO slow in delivering that putter face thru impact, it really is a pain to watch. But here, you let the club head accelerate thru the ball and chase down you target line. SO MUCH BETTER. You are normally such a passive putter it pains my eyes to look at your videos but THIS is how you should roll em. Please please please keep accelerating that putter face and hole those putts. You are a fantastic ball striker but your passive putting stroke has been a drag on you for EVER. THIS is how you should stroke it and I can’t wait to see more. Please keep this up as I love your content and I would love to stop squirming at your crappy slow passive putting stroke and see some aggressive moves. YOU GOT THIS PETE I AM SO HAPPY
Liked that one because you were clearly enjoying yourself..! Our nearest Decathlon store had three clubs in it a random iron a TSi 3 wood and a Childs putter...so you were lucky to get the boxed set....!
Fantastic video. So well filmed and edited, with such a simple set up (kudos Jacob). I loved the concept, loved how you explained what to buy cheap and what not to scrimp on. There was even swing advice buried in there, with the benefits of not always swinging full out . . . it was just brilliant. Not only that, but at was great to see you playing so well and having so much fun - maybe the cheap clubs lower the expectations and therefore the pressure. After all, if you spend £600 on a driver, and still miss the fairway . . . Any way, LOVED it, thank you, more please. BTW, those tees look shocking, but I keep losing mine in the long grass off the tee, so maybe I’ll swallow my pride! 😂
I’m telling you right now if I see the title of your next video “ Vikings hand forged a new set of clubs for me” , I will come to Manchester and protest everywhere you go!!!! You are Peter of the box set first of his name!!!!! Loved the content and I am so loving hating you right now and how you played! Cheers
Love this idea. I just started playing again after 15 yrs. Found a used set of Taylor made rsi irons for $220 and Calloway x2 hot driver and 5 wood for $60 each to complete my old set. Still need a 56 and 60 degree wedge. Spent most of the summer on the range getting my swing back. Cant wait to play next summer. Can buy a membership at a couple courses in my hometown for $800. My goal is to shoot par before the end of summer.
Great proof that club fitting is a fallacy. Even though I sell ORKA clubs here in Australia, this video just shows that the key to golf is understanding the equipment you have and having the skill set to make it work. Lessons and practice really are the key to good golf.
I remember when you did the charity shop special and went under par with a set of used Callaways. So, it seems that game improvement irons and woods bring out the best in you Pete!
This is proof of the old adage "a great artist doesn't thank his brushes"... the artist does the work. The opposite of "a bad carpenter can't blame his hammer."
Loved this video Pete, I don't care what you say, you are an incredibly talented golfer. Most golfers would give their right arm to play like you do. An idea for another shoot is go round the same course with all your best equipment and see what score you shoot. The moral kept replaying in my head a poor workman blames his tools. You sir are an excellent workman. End of story.
Great idea. Really enjoyed this video and a great concept. Goes to show having non expensive gear doesn't stop you playing great golf. Can't wait to see the next video assuming there is one.
Was a member at Heaton park was only £50 a year you still had to pay green fees but you could have an official handicap. Great course especially the par 3 over the valley
Replaced my TaylorMade M4 irons with the Inesis 500 irons last year and I love them. They're, dare I say, better then the M4 irons and significantly cheaper.
Started playing golf there with two of my uncles, at the age of 8. We quite often played 36 holes, as you know its quite hilly, hence its nickname "The assault course" Lots of great memories.
Hi Peter, Love the video. Similar to my story. Golf is very expensive in Belgium, so i have to do the same thing with a budget. This video shows that you can play good golf with a low budget. Love it Peter!
My last few practice rounds, I’ve took the approach to not try and smoke each an every ball, staying balanced, and being smooth. Now I have been playing pretty well before this but at some point during the rounds I would “lose it” and can barely strike the ball or have huge misses. My practice rounds with my smooth approach has actually been incredible, I hit my drive shorter sure but it’s exactly where I’m aimed and puts me in a great position for my next shot. All of my irons go relatively the same distance maybe a touch short but the contact, ball flights, and just the blissful pure sound it makes when the club hits the ball is amazing. Also notice that when I do miss a swing the ball tends to have less spin so the misses aren’t too bad. I pulled a few shots in a row and it felt a lot easier to make a mid round swing change and hit the shot shape I wanted. Excited to continue the experiment and cross my fingers I can make some putts😂
This just goes to show what a great golfer you are. Able to manipulate your swing speed to cope with different shafts. Really enjoyed this and look forward to a series on this. As already said, it would be very interesting if you took your pro set of clubs and see if you could do any better. I bet you wouldn’t 😊
Awesome video that’s was an absolute pleasure all the way thru can’t get enough of the quality product Pete and team create but I am the mental age of a two year old and rewatched the first pitch on 1st hole about 30 times in a row because those new shoes make a terribly “flatulent” sound 😅
So I went to one of my local ranges just yesterday in Wisconsin (thank goodness for heated ranges) and the beginning of it was just for fun because I was testing out this super old set of clubs I was selling. Then, I tried out a 7° driver that I got for cheap recently and that actually helped dial in my fairway wood swing off the tee. For my last 10 shots, I was really focusing on the 7 wood was retesting. Even it just having that loose plan was enough to really help me and I got some amazing shots with that seven wood

(5) Agree: two swings per ball at the Range.
Love the series so far and saved me some money cos I have been eyeing up some different irons from my callaway xhot 2 but just proves the clubs are not always the reason we hit better shots. Cheers Pete :-)
I’m going to defend that putter as I get on really well with it. It’s quite difficult to leave putts particularly short with it (which I used to do all the time with my previous) and the harder you have to hit a putt the more likely strike and face to path will be off.
When i got back into golf about 15 years ago i started with a £100 boxed set. The clubs were awful but so was my golf. Once i realised i had the bug to play regularly i slowly improved my clubs and eventually joined a local club. It doesn't have to be super expensive to get started and I'd hate to pay serious money, get frustrated and realise it wasn't for me.
OMG.... (like a valley girl)! This must be the most fun I had in watching a video in a long time. I do remember you posteing this challange, somewhere with your FW north to south-serie..And I was thinking I hope I dont miss this episode, and I am glad I didnt. So funny!
Very nice! I have some Inesis clubs, and they are not bad. If you need a better putter at a low price, have a look at the Wilson Harmonized putters. They are quite cheap, but also not bad 😊
impressive Pete!! Quality golfer with less than decent equipment = really, really good golf. Just tells you it's all about your ability ... great video.
Great video guys! Played Heaton Park quite a few times, lovely course..think Jack Nicklaus actually went there once, don’t think he played the course but sure he did a golf school type of thing there a few years back.
I love playing Heaton Park and would recommend it to anyone in the North West. You'll struggle to find a better deal for Layout, condition and price anywhere. The only difference is I was +7 at the turn 🤣 and that's with my fitted clubs, think that says all you need to know about golf. Great video
Cool video. Are you planning on keeping the series going? Would be interesting to use the budget from each video to upgrade certain clubs or invest the money into the golf game (lessons, training aids, etc)

100% agree
What a superb little vlog/story that was. Also just shows what a decent player with “inferior” equipment can do if you understand the limitations of the tools available… brilliant 👏
There's always been great golf played despite the state of the equipment over the decades.
Inesis 100 clubs + bag was how I started playing golf last year - still using them now, they're definitely not the problem with my game!
Just smiling all the way through this...everyone needs to see this video to understand why PF is the best golf youtuber out there. The content is unreal and so good. Deserves so much more views and subs!

@@moonlanding-69you should try playing with GoodGoods clubs, clothes, and balls it will make you a better human being😊
Pete loved this one. Nice to see you having fun playing golf on camera. Well less stressed cause if you did terrible it be the clubs, also like in the video your "must be the clubs" when doing well.
Pete, you’ve gotta be the easiest golfer to watch on TH-cam. Your humor and way you talk to the audience is second to none.
Peter - love these types of videos. My favorite video was the pound shop set you got and cleaned in your kitchen sink and made a birdie on the first hole.

Great video Pete! Would be great to see this continue as a series!
Top vlog Peter, will look at this course when up that way 👍
Would be great to see you at Heaton Park ⛳️🙌
Pete. Get one of those golf course GPS apps. Get a free one obviously. Help you with distances better

What a great fun video and how good we're you playing with that box set. Was on a rope. Great content. Open qualifying here we come!!🎉
I love it this goes against everything golf says it is. Pete is so surprised and he’s a pro. i am switching to all hybrids and a chipper.
Great video, I think it goes to show that learning to play golf with lessons is much more important than expensive “game improving” equipment
Pete the rope on the hat, the rope not sitting correctly was killing me 😊
Love it Pete, clearly so did you, how about a matt friar challenge, with those clubs over 18 holes, you were superb.

Love this, Was refreshing like mad last night but couldn't see the video until this morning sadly.
So I went to one of my local ranges just yesterday in Wisconsin (thank goodness for heated ranges) and the beginning of it was just for fun because I was testing out this super old set of clubs I was selling. Great video. Much more fun to watch when it’s genuinely fun for the creators. I will definitely subscribe after 5 years of watching 😮
That was bloomin’ epic thanks Pete! Enjoyed all of it!

There's an old saying that "It's not the arrow, it's the archer." This is the perfect example of the truth therein. Delightful episode, Pete! 🙂👍
Loved this, been following for along time and have to say your content keeps getting better. Well done lads
A great example of the top quality content this channel produces, really entertaining
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is such a cool idea and concept, and I thoroughly enjoyed it
That was a lot of fun. I was surprised at some of the choices - like golf shoes for example - They may be more important in the UK.
(1) Ponce / Pick up / recycle tees. Not sure I have bought more than 5 packs in my whole career. (2) You need soft balls on the golf course whatever your standard. Put the tee money towards softer balls. (3) Wear any old polo / sweatshirt & chinos. (4) Agree: good shoes and a good all-weather glove: essential expenditure. (5) Agree: two swings per ball at the Range.
Brilliant video Pete, great fun! Well played.
I love how your shirt tag was showing!!

You hit box set clubs like I WISH I could my fitted Pings. Best You-Tube box golfer, hands down!
That was quite an advert for INESIS golf clubs [maybe not the putter]
You certainly were striping them down the fairways - lovely to see
Cheers
It just shows how good you are. thank you
Really enjoyed it and you looked very relaxed which may have attributed to your ball striking!

You're a great golfer, Peter, but this brand of content sets you apart from other greats! such a fun video.
Very good this Pete. The thing you missed, as it’s focused to a start up. Is a free golf app to help with distances and an idea of the hole.
Respect for continuing with this concept

Loved this! So enjoyable, great to watch 👏🏼
great try which is helpfull for beginners.Decathlon will thank you for this material testing. congrats mate
I love playing Heaton Park and would recommend it to anyone in the North West. You'll struggle to find a better deal for Layout, condition and price anywhere. The only difference is I was +7 at the turn 🤣 and that's with my fitted clubs, think that says all you need to know about golf. Great video
