I remember getting up every morning and watching Speed before school. I believe the tank on top of the engine would be oxygen, used when car was underwater.
This was one of my favorite cartoons in the 60s. The bird.... homing device. Chrome thingy on fender....sideview mirror. Too bad that the engine and trunk are opposite of what they should be. All that aside, super build Chris. Keep them coming I'll keep watching.
@@eve5150 And the rear-view mirror is on the passenger side? I was also hoping to see the detail on steering wheel; if they molded in the control panel.
This was one of my many unfinished model kits from over a decade ago when I was little. I put it together unpainted and somehow managed to break the windshield in two. Still a happy memory and I’m glad I could watch you make it like I should’ve back then.
You always surprise me. I never know what to expect but I’m always impressed. I’m still in the hospital with covid so there is so much to watch with your builds when I can’t build
I just built mine, it is a 1\25 scale kit but fits onto a scalextric, cut down charger chassic, and can be ran on any 1\32 scale track. I needed to add a racer x driver to mine.
The engine in this one looks maybe like a turbine engine of some kind! I would’ve much rather had the front mounted V12, oh well maybe their going to come out with one like that, eventually..? Who knows.?
I'm pretty sure I remember Sparky, Speed and Pops working on engine modifications under the hood in the front! That left the trunk opened for Spriddle & Chimchim to hide!
Sorry but had to comment again Chris, that was a beautiful build brother! Definitely picking one up now. On a personal note mate Thankyou for all your hard work with your videos and the constant builds you do! I used to own a resin kit of this car from Horizon. Unfortunately it had a lot of white metal parts that were very poorly molded. May have to pick this one up, thanks for the preview!
Havnt even finished watching but sooooooo cooool Chris, brings back so much good memories from watching speed racer every night after school, it’s going to be awesome I know! ☺️👍🇦🇺
Thanks for the video. I built the old PL glue kit from a long time ago, it has some issues. Looks like they reworked this one to make it fit better. I may pick up another one of these. Have a great day.
That’s pretty cool Chris, only thing is I don’t think the Mach 5 had a gas turbine engine in it, it’s cool looking but I’d rather have the big V12 front mounted engine, I think it was a V12 ? I know it was some kind of big engine in the front. Hmmm..? Oh well, it’s still pretty cool regardless!
It's always great to see the Mach 5 popping up in my fee here and there. My only question however is why is the engine in the back for this model? Canonically, the engine is in the front because Spritle and Chim Chim would be in the trunk in the back, not really an opportunity to do that if you've got an engine in place of a trunk.
So wait... between this glue kit and the snap kit... ...is it possible to buy both models, then have one sporting the canopy, bird, jacks, sawblades? Are the accessory weapons interchangeable? (Playing Mantis did that, making you buy the same car 2 or more times to make "1" good car).
I have noticed in some of your videos you use a metallic silver sharpie marker. I have tried to use them and I have not had good luck with them. And this video you used four different color fine tip pens, could you tell me what kind are they and what brand, and where can I get them.
All the pieces under that part that opens was the oxygen tanks for the times it was under water wish they would bring out th grx and the shooting star that racer x had also
Polar Lights goofed on this kit. It's technically not accurate. The Mach's engine is located at the front of the vehicle, not the rear. Other than that, you did a fine job building the kit. I'd like to see you tackle the far superior Aoshima Mach 5 model kit next. That one has the wings that deploy from underneath the vehicle.
What a beautiful product. Absolutely had to order 🙌 do you think painting the interior black with a light coat of dark red, and some dry brushing of brighter red would look like leather?
I have a question what kind of glue do you use? I just got a Kenworth w900 aerodyne model kit and wasn’t sure what’s the best glue to use for it. I’m using the testers model cement but my tube got all cracked and leaked out the glue everywhere. I’m gunna order some soon but wanted your opinion on the best glue to get.
Any of the modern liquid glues are good. Plastruct Bondene is what I use, but Tamiya, Testors liquids are all fine. The gel type tube glues aren't used much anymore but they do have their place if you want to wait while it dries.
I watch a lot of your builds, and sometimes you use fine gel pens for detail. I've looked online, and there are SO MANY, that I'm not sure what to buy? Is it worth buying a set, or am I only going-to use 3 or 4 different colors?
