I didn’t know that it was one night with no overdubs - that’s almost inconceivable- which makes the greatest live-no greatest record ever more incredible.. that is so incredible. I almost can’t believe it. I have listened to this album literally hundreds of times. I’ve watched first reactions to it hundreds of times. I can honestly say that I could listen to it every single day and still not be tired and amaze. That’s how great this band, the album and Mark Knopfler are. II get excited every time I hear this album. This is the greatest performance ever. PERIOD

Simply didn't appreciate this band enough when I was younger, I was an ardent nwobhm fan the likes of iron maiden, Saxon etc but as a 58 year old I've come to appreciate musicianship much more and can't stop listening to dire straits, especially their live performances and regret not seeing them when I had chance. Amazing musicians and brilliant song writers too. Recently got into John Illsleys solo stuff too (the bass player) similar to dire straits but also different enough, bit more chill. Great reaction btw 👍

It’s also a memory of that place of magic & infinite possibility Spanish City was for a kid growing up in a northern industrial city ~ a fairground holiday from reality before adulthood kicked in. Tunnel of Love was one of the standard fairground & seaside holiday rides you could take & come out the other end unharmed. The strange organ in the intro was a standard fairground ride tune anyone not too rich growing up in England around the same time as Mark Knopfler would recognise.

When the Spanish City was renovated the tiles around the entrance have the words of Tunnel Of Love embossed in them. Every day when the Spanish City is opened they play Tunnel Of Love. The killer line is "I stood and watched her walk away. I could have caught up with her easy enough but something must have made me stay"

Tunnel of Love is a track from Dire Straits's third album Making Movies from 1980. A great album, but I have found that all of their six studio albums are fantastic. The live performances always add a bit of shine each of the tracks. Mark Knopfler's solo albums are not as rocky as the Dire Straits ones but all nine of them wonderful. A tenth is on it's way next year. Can't wait.....

You are as enthusiastic as i am when i hear music like this, dont forget the long music journey with Telegraph Road 13:00.
Perhaps the two UK hit singles Romeo And Juliet/a ballad with acoustic guitar or Private Investigation/so different musical and unexpected, not to forget the instrumental Going Home.

Tunnel of Love was a feature of some European amusement parks -- probably disappeared by now -- so the meaning eludes young minds.
