Gaejthe is a beast man, he took tony to school, still tony put up a good fight but was outclassed ,he should've taken gaejthe in to deep waters after round 2, it was too late
Christian so sad it ended that way but justin was way better. Looked like tony was having a very bad day, not the el cucuy that i know. Hope he comes back and finds his better form again
The opponent helped the saddle entry. He literally moved the left leg into the triangle. Everything about this video confuses me other than the great entry 😅 I'll just assume he was takin off guard by a slick move and panicked. I watched it back 3-4 times and he had lots of time to c grip the knee, turn away, and kick out. I'm confused because if the reap is allowed I have to assume these 2 guys are high level. Anyways, came across this when looking at imanari roll breakdowns. This video confirms its legitimacy. Nice work
Here's a video of the imanari from standing th-cam.com/video/IPE__2_K5GI/w-d-xo.html As for the ankle lock position. Look up the 'saddle' BJJ position, it has many names for the position
I was wondering who would get it the slightly bigger dude or the skinny...such a skinny move I love chess moves in fighting and this is like check mate type shit
From my limited understanding of what happened (and the ibjjf rules!) that looked more like a kani basami than the typical iminari roll takedown ie an inversion into scissor sweep. Typically the iminari roll has the upper leg in the saddle position before the sweep is followed through. Under ibjjf the technique in the video is immediate DQ. However if the upper leg was in the saddle position before the sweep then the takedown would be fine. When you're in saddle however you can't attack the trapped leg under ibjjf, the far one is free game though. A bit convoluted but I think that's what the unofficial line is
guy it was done on just didnt know what was being done. not a very good roll, you can see his eyes drop and he gives a big tell that hes gonna go for the leg
Because you don't understand how it works probably. (and neither did the other guy, that's way he was caught off guard having no idea how to defend it).
At the belt level I was at and the rule set, I was not allowed to attack the first leg, hence switching to the second leg which has more control and going for the ankle lock there
@@mattdoyle1442 if someone does this, all you would have to do is step backwards and stomp them in the head while they sprawl around on the ground like a confused slug :/ this technique can be useful potentially, but this is NOT an effective move for 99% of physical altercations.
Just step backwards and hit them. What a solid strategy. I wonder why anybody who has ever been taken down or had their legs attacked didn’t think of that. If the attacker gets control of the leg, they extend their hips so the defender can’t foot fight. If they miss the leg, they can roll to another open guard or stand up. My guess is you’ve never had a leg locker attached to your leg. Not much you can do once extended.
@@mattdoyle1442 these bouts rely almost entirely on locking and wrestling exclusively. It doesn't take into account striking, or the vast array of things that can occur in an actual fight without limitations placed. This move has the potential to be useful, but you would be an absolute fool to attempt this roll in a street fight. :/
Beautiful roll. Youre not gonna make it that far against competent opponents unless you wrestle. He was really easily breaking your posture with a very weak clinch.
Might have to throw an Imanari...
Lol rip
Don't forget the sand

Awesome, I'm still hoping to hit it in sparring, can't imagine getting it in comp.

I love how some bjj guy look like they've been stuffed into trash cans at some point in their lives but they are straight up assassins lol

Shoulda countered it with the izanami
That was an honest sick move.

That was just slick.

Rare to find guys, who put their feet together to defend a takedown.
imanari rolls are so dangerous... you get a head butt fifty percent of the time.
Wtf? Do you shoot standing up like a takedown? How tf does that happen

don't mean it as a disrespect or anything but is this speed enough for pulling off imanari rolls in competition? felt like it was kinda slow
it's all depends on the competition level... at this level... apparently it was.

is that considered a knee reap under ibjjf rules?
I believe it is, but there's a few specific rules to the position that I am not 100% aware of
Crossing his ankles over and compressing the achilles is a reap??

ive heard that if you reap the knee (sitting in honey hole) is only illegal if you attack the trapped leg.. im not sure tho
youve been staring at that left leg for 4 seconds, a good opponet would have noticed and defended it
wow
Why does this look staged ?
It was probably the 1st time someone went for imanari roll on him so he kinda froze. I am sure he learned from this.
