What scares me most about modern motorcycles is the digital aspect of ECUs controlling everything. When they inevitably succumb to Murphy's Law the only recourse is an expensive trip to the dealer. Oh for the days of air-cooled motors and carbs!
My air cooled 1200 Sportster is 11 years and 170,000 kilometres old. Simple and beautiful. Mind you the alarm / immobiliser system gave me grief last year to the point that I got the dealer to ''just disconnect the fucking thing''.
As an avid member of the motorcycle brother hood it breaks my heart to see so many American bikes listed here. They could do so much better but they trade quality for sales numbers to satisfy investors interest. Share.
The Eliminator is a budget cruiser, with budget parts… and who uses a motorcycle fuel gauge to determine when they need to fill up? You’re just asking to get stranded. Reset the trip meter every fill up and refuel it based on miles ridden.
I usually have fuel gauges on my bike, but I’ve owned sport bikes that don’t include them. Long story short, know what your fuel tanks holds and then calculate your mileage. For my commute to work, filled up once every three business days. On trips, I would start looking for fuel at about 120 miles or roughly 2 hours of travel. I’ve had too many vehicles with dodgy fuel gauges to trust them completely. That said, I’ve owned plenty of bikes that had fuel gauges that worked perfectly.
This appears to be a list of best sold bikes in the US with most active user communities on the internet🤔. This list is what you get if you replace proper investigation by bots that scrape specific parts of the internet for user complaints, AI creating a text story around it, and a monotone AI voice reading it 🤫. Guaranteed clickbait success😜.
Nah i'll let someone else buy new and just buy $2500 second-hand bikes of which i have two one a cruiser one an adventure bike if you choose wisely you get every thing you want.
Manufacturers MUST get rid of any computers and chips on MCs. They are too delicate. Or set the bike up to have a cell phone based control system. That way if the phone goes bad one just replaces the phone.
I’ve had a dozen Harley’s and the only one that leaked oil was my first one which was an AMF Harley. Since Harley bought back the company I’ve never had an oil leak or break down with any of them. You gotta quit beating that dead horse nobody believes that anymore.
The amount of AI slop on TH-cam has increased a lot lately
Both my 2001 Yamaha VMax and 2005 Honda VTX 1300 have been exceptionally reliable. Only problem is the VMax wears out rear tires quick. Darn VBoost 😊

Most of this post is bullshit.
My 86 Kawasaki Eliminator was reliable and beautiful.
This thing looks like a living nightmare.

This is a great video to watch in preparation for buying a reliable bike!🏍️

100% agree.
great explanation of the crab they sell nowadays
Im 68..and that is a sad indictment of the industry..elegant simplicity and quality reliability..that should be the job.
LOOK! Not one Honda :P
Not one BMW or KTM either, but I know plenty of disappointing models…
No two robots can agree with each other in these AI lists.
What a pile of crap! I have a rocket 3GT over 8000 miles and no issues at all also very comfortable as in 4hr ride comfort.
This post should be 7 motorcycles to buy used 😂
I had exactly the same thought.
And get stuck with outrageous service bills ❓ Don't even think about it...
@@edwardtelles1956 Which of these bikes comes with "outrageous service bills"?
Ive jus ran round and bought three old Yamaha XS 650s from different owners..came with boxes of parts

Kind of misleading to use a triumph twin in the thumbnail but not in the list. -1
for many owners

They aren’t able to because of one governmental agency, wanna guess which one? I’ll give you three letters EPA.
wow great
Sportster s might have good power, but it is as fugly as a bike can get. Yuck....
Get rid of the a.i. voice
