I Work From Home and have doing Rover for over a month. I net a little over $1k/month and am booked till mid December and have repeat clients. I’ve also had to decline jobs. Definitely a need for more pet sitters in Las Vegas.
I'm wanting to quit my full time job to open a small boarding facility on my property. I'm thinking about starting on Rover just to get my name out there and gain trust in the community. My building, once completed, will comfortably house 5 dogs. I also have a dedicated outdoor/indoor play area. My hope is this app can really help jumpstart my dog boarding business.
I signed up beginning of May and passed my background check on May 5th. 3 days later I got my first booking and almost everyday after I got lots of booking request. I’ve watched 6 pets now and more coming in 2 days. I only do boarding though so I can house more pets. Such an easy job making money and still being able to do other stuff I want during the day. Heck I can even sneak a nap.
I wanted to ask you for your advice because i've been struggling to get my first client and I don't know what to do. I updated my profile I set up adds and I've put the lowest prices available and I can't get any clients. Do you have any advice for me to help out?
dude 33 dollars for overnight is garbage. It can take a while to build up clientele but, dog sitters can make from 40-60 dollars for pop in visits spending just 20 minutes to an hour with an animal and taking it on a short walk/ giving it medication. overnights can go up to 150 dollars per pet. i can door dash for two hours and come away with more than 33 dollars and i dont have to spend time as some well behaved houseguest in some strangers house.
It depends on your location. Here where I live in a rual part of Florida I spoke with a lady that did UberEats for 2 hours and only made $15. I use Rover as a side hustle. Sure it's not much but adding it to my main income does help.
Yes still worth it but the driving is hard sometimes. And making sure I have everything. Just realized I left my phone charger at home. I make $1,000 plus per week which is great for low income earners like me where there job does not pay much. And plus yes great to do drop ins or house sitting and earn extra income. As long as the pets are happy. You need to be good with cats and dogs!
By getting new clients and repeat clients. I meant $1,000 per month. Apparently some make over a 100,000 per year. Highest I made was this month. But just barely over a 1,000 because of my work schedule. Maybe I could make more if I didn’t work. What services and what are you charging them?
@@jojob75 I do all services but I get boarding requests 90% of the time. I charge $30 a night and take in multiple dogs at one, working nonstop yet I'm nowhere near $1000 per month.
We've had two Rover experiences, both were unsatisfactory. The first sitter agreed to stay, visited us, arrived at 6:30am, and after we left for a memorial service in LA, 400 miles away, got a text that she wasn't coming back after saying, "I'm going to get some food for the weekend." The second pet sitting three months later, and she left several days into a 4 day pet sitting, saying, "I'm not feeling well." We discovered she never stayed overnight as agreed, and wasn't there much for the dogs. She apparently was doing 2-3 sits, rather than just our agreed sit. Fortunately, we had a tenant who provided some assistance until we returned. Conclusions are: Hire a sitter who is more mature in age where values of integrity, honesty and commitment are more often to be counted upon. Second, install some nanny cams to see when the sitter is coming and going, how they are or are not treating the pets. Remember, you're trusting a total stranger to be in your home unsupervised. Will they keep agreements, do their job as agreed? You don't know and can't hold them accountable without verification. Protect yourself.
Almost all of my bookings are for pet sitting at my house rather than theirs. I've made $15k through rover this year already. It is work when you have a house full of dogs.
I wanted to ask you for your advice because i've been struggling to get my first client and I don't know what to do. I updated my profile I set up adds and I've put the lowest prices available and I can't get any clients. Do you have any advice for me to help out?
Interesting! I was hoping it would be more walk focused but you mentioned overnights and long term stays more, so is that what makes up the majprity of the app?
I am licensed vet tech. I applied and got approved overnight. I set my profile but I think my rates are low for nyc. But I’m new so I am starting low then will slowly increase
I have been a vet nurse my whole life. It’s a beautiful field that I sadly burned out in It’s a hard field and depending where you live it’s hard to get into the program. The good thing is that you can take classes online. Pennfoster College is accredited for this. What do you wanna know? As a vet tech you are the nurse of the pet. You deal with a lot depending on where you work. GP is simple diagnostic radiology surgery monitoring nutrition wellness etc If you work for a ln emergency referral place, that’s Harvey duty work with alot of hours and mental /physical exhaustion. The pay is decent but can better fit what we do
When signing up for rover, did you put that you were a licensed vet tech in the description? I'd love to put that I was a kennel technician for a time, but I'm concerned the clients may hound me with medical questions that I am not qualified to answer. I'm only concerned because my own family still calls me with questions rather frequently 😅
I was just approved on Rover earlier this week and already have my 1st booking for an extended dog sitting (not overnight) for late afternoon until early evening. I don't quite understand though why so many have their overnight pricing set so low? I see many listed for under $50/night.
It’s because your a stranger we don’t know from a whole in the wall some of us might just be better leaving our dogs at home unattended then putting them in the hands of a stranger. 👍
I’m just going to be doing visits and walks so I tried to price those more conservatively because they are at least twice a day. The website gets a cut as well.
Hey loved the video would you recommend this for a college student coming home for the summer? And also do they allow you to talk dogs for money as well?
I like th leash where can I buy a strong leash my moms dog breaks everyone she has bought the kind you attach in ground he is a chiwawa terrier we have to buy a third one
Hmm, I wouldn't let him watch my Huskies. He said he went for one walk a day that was about 20 minutes....... He said Huskies.... Huskies need wat more attention and walkies than that.
Huskies need sooo much exercise. I had a huskie I watched 3 days per week and she needed runs. She was happy with a 3 mile run but she needed that several times a day and by several I mean 4 times per day. She was great. She loved exercise and we played frisbee so much. She also was a great cuddler but she needed to be brushed out as well. This is like a real thing. Dogs need love and care. Just like a child.
its a half hour minimum actually, and it can be more cost effective for say an elderly woman who just came out of a surgery and needs multiple walks for her dog per day/month/ etc. the sitters can choose their rates too so you can work with the client.
Concerned for the dog in the video when there tounge flaps like that they are dehydrated and need water! He/She looks distressed and uncomfortable. Am I the only one seeing this???
I love a good hustler! you do you :) just dropping by again and wanted to say thank you for making this video! I made an updated earnings video for dog walking and sitting and just wanted to thank you for inspiring ideas! i ADORE rover. i think its so amazing Rover created a wonderful platform for people to have their own business and thats where I am now with my husband! We have a LLC now but we still use Rover as a platform. the only thingg is that I want to be able to scale it because we only have so much space! we capped at 230k last year but with just 2 people and we don't know how to move forward. Maybe i need to get a commerical building and create a doggy haven that way! or start another side hustle =O but ANYWAYS... I make videos on my earnings too so if aynone is interested, pls check it out! and if anyone sees this comment too and if you dont have time, pls subscribe, mute the video, put it on 2x speed or something and give it a like haha thank you!!!!! it helps more than you know!!! always loooking for ways to support other dog owners/lovers and businesses :')

How do you deal with boarding dogs that don’t ge along with others ? Do you keep them locked in a crate ?

Maybe if you live in your car or with your parents and have no bills

Oh ok. Maybe you are not charging enough per dog? You do the whole month? How many pets?
Yikes

as a Rover sitter i would enjoy a video about wag
thanks for the video - question - if I have more experience with cats than dogs, would it be hard for me to find work caring for dogs?
Interesting! I was hoping it would be more walk focused but you mentioned overnights and long term stays more, so is that what makes up the majprity of the app?

How is it going and if you don't mind can I ask you questions about 'Vet tech' ? I'm lost in thoughts want to know more about the field

I have no "professional" experience taking care of animals. My hopes to get approved to get on this app are now crushed 😢

this was definitely a nice review from a potential customer perspective i already have trust sadly i wish i could hire you already to dog sit

That confuses me too. I think a lot of people are undervaluing their service. They're willing to get paid less, hoping to get more bookings

How long did it take to get your first booking

welcome to the club brother it well worth it
Hey loved the video would you recommend this for a college student coming home for the summer? And also do they allow you to talk dogs for money as well?
This is awesome too bad I live in a smaller town not really anywhere near a city , so the demand would be a lot less I’d assume
Probably would be significantly less. You can try finding dog sitting jobs on NextDoor too though!
Is it possible to sign up for more than one app at once? Also will you still get clients if you have no dog walking experience?
I love your videos! Thanks so much for sharing

to check my background it said that there in a fee, rigth? so do i have to pat that fee to be able to be a petsitter?
Is rover for europe also,?

Can you learn this job me?
20 minutes a day for a husky, what a rip off. It should be an hour a day
