I am rlly enjoying this alleviated version of real talk. The topics discussed are so much more educational and informative. Kudos to the new cast for being such naturals 💯💯💯

sex ed definitely needs to teach about RESPECT and CONSENT. the words are easy to say but almost impossible for most humans to understand and execute

I can definitely relate to the part on watching TV together and a sex scene comes on. When I was younger, my dad would always ask my younger brother and I to cover our eyes but then it only made me more curious and I would peek from behind the cushion or whatever even though our dad tried to prevent us from looking. As much as yes, it was "inappropriate" for our innocent minds at the time, it just made talking about sex something that wasn't normalised in the household. And this is even when I was older, probably about secondary school age. I found it so awkward to even broach this topic with my parents but at the same time, it was always drilled into our heads to not have sex before marriage and that sex is sacred and we should only do the deed with our husband/wife.
I remember sex education in school for me at the time (early 2000s) focused more on STDs and abstinence than anything else and whatever I did learn about sex after tertiary and beyond stemmed from the internet or what I heard from my friends. While yes, I knew about the importance of safe sex, even things like contraceptives are not readily available other than condoms and as a female, you can't purchase birth control from pharmacies like Watsons, Guardian and Unity without a prescription from a doctor. We really need to normalise purchasing of contraceptives as well as making the right decisions about having sex with your partner.

yup . while attending the sex ed courses for teachers to be certified to conduct such lessons in school, the trainer told us " we are not teaching them how to have sex"
