How to Train at an Indoor Shooting Range

  • Sawyer and Jack go over some tips and tricks to shooting at an indoor range where you might be limited with what you can do. You can work on the draw and reloads with dry fire at home but there's no replacement for actual live fire. You can get a lot of work done from a "compressed ready" position or even full presentation. Grip, sights, and trigger are some of the most important things you can work on at an indoor range.
    Huge shoutout to Ready Gunner for letting us use their indoor range powered by Action Target!

    I had an Apex for about a week. Worked fine for the first couple hundred rounds then one day I did a random function check and found that it wasn't releasing the striker. Since my pistol won't strip unless it's uncocked I had to punch the pins and remove everything while attached to the slide.
    On the plus side, all the CS reps i dealt with were extremely helpful.

    I’ll practice slide lock reload with your guys axis elite holster. If I have a buddy or if certain RSOs are in I’ll ask them to load dummy rounds mixed with live rounds in my magazines so I can practice tap rack and see if I flinch when I press the shot

    An indoor range near me allows rapid fire - as long as you’re safely hitting the target. However, it would be tough to effectively use a shot timer. Thanks for the video!

    • @ryanburbridge
      @ryanburbridge ปีที่แล้ว

      The shot timer was not to measure your actual shots but to beep to start and to beep at a set time. If you can hear the beep before your done your above par if you hear it after your shots your under par

    As I have my IPDA and IPSC holster qualifications, my range let’s me draw, reload, rapid fire and even face up range and turn and draw. My favourite drill is one or two shot draws on 3” pasters hanging on 3/4” tape @ 7 yards. I shoot until the paster falls off and then cut the tape in half .

  • @Jakems28
    @Jakems28 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the videos! Was wondering if you guys could do one on stance? I'm sure it's really simple and maybe I'm too tense while shooting but even leaning forward I bounce back a lot. I have tight double taps but as soon as I really turn up the speed my shots start to go low in a straight line from what I guess is my shoulders trying to stay level but failing. Watching Sawyer's bill drill it almost looks like he's not being pushed at all even while standing pretty upright. Is it as simple as leaning your hips forward and staying upright with a relaxed core?

    • @Tier1Concealed
      @Tier1Concealed  ปีที่แล้ว

      trial and error will help you find what works the best for you, specifically! most of us have a slightly staggered stance, but other than that we try to be very relaxed

    • @NickHairston
      @NickHairston ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some RSOs put you through a test to see if you have the proficiency to do what he’s doing. If you pass you can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you’re endangering others lives.

    • @XX-166
      @XX-166 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickHairston His TEST won’t stand the test of time if there’s an accident and someone gets shot. That’s the purpose of consistent rules for everyone because the business insurance won’t give a dam about a test the RSO came up with when the law suits fly.

    • @Tier1Concealed
      @Tier1Concealed  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Fortunately, we do have a great relationship with Ready Gunner. But, it honestly just depends on the specific range and their rules. We have all been to ranges where they don't allow any type of draw or "rapid" fire, but we also have all been to ranges where they'll let you draw and shoot how you please, just depends.

    • @XX-166
      @XX-166 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tier1Concealed absolutely… the issue comes in when you have skilled shooters who CAN accomplish those draw and shoot goals and the folks a few booths down watching and thinking they can do the same things with horrific results hence the rule.. no one can do it for everyones safety and the businesses and their insurance abide by that and if they don’t then there may not be a range there any longer.

    • @danjones2563
      @danjones2563 ปีที่แล้ว
