Best band of all time in my opinion, message is always on point, sound and lyrics are next level, and every song is a banger. Truly masters of their craft and warriors of the people
One of my favorite songs by them, great review! I grew up learning the same whitewashed BS about MLK and the Black Panther Party. I’m so thankful I started learning more history and leftist theory while my kid was very young so he can grow up knowing the truth of US history. Rage has a lot to do with my growth both politically and as a human. Keep the Rage reactions coming!
There was a few tracks I listened to by Dead Prez back in the 90's. Been a long time though so I don't remember the names. First time I heard them was a music video on the Canadian version of MTV at the time.
Solid dude! With it being black history month and the one sidedness of history that is presented you need to check out Guerilla Radio, it is about Mumia and is an incredible track
Three (somewhat) unrelated bits to add to the discussion: 1. The American school system is in jeopardy. I am currently a teacher, ranging grades 4-8, and come from a long line of educators. This attempt at whitewashing our country's history is just one prong of a multi-prong attack on education. It's like there is some organized but shadowy attempt to dumb down the population. After all, an ignorant population is so much easier to control. And, for the record, I am NOT a fan of conspiracy theories. This is my own thought, cultivated over my tenure in education, but also during the 30 years my mom and her sister were teachers... and my grandfather before them... 2. My biggest beef with the way MLK JR is taught in American classrooms is how they completely ignore his blatantly socialist messages, and only focus on his writings regarding race, specifically. To know the man, we should study ALL of his works. He really wrote some remarkable things. 3. I am terribly disappointed in how little James Baldwin is discussed in American schools - if he's even mentioned at all! This is a travesty. Baldwin's work needs much more attention than it gets. I don't necessarily agree with him 100% of the time, but I don't need to. It's about being introduced to new thoughts and opinions, especially when produced by such a learned, eloquent and articulate person.
Agree with you. They’re defunding the education system on purpose. Need people just educated enough to be a compliant worker, but not educated enough to start asking questions.
"It's like there is some organized but shadowy attempt to dumb down the population." Nothing shadowy about it, it's the fucking platform they're running on. Any critique of the system gets labeled as un-American, and patriotism runs deep.
I'm from Europe and from the country that (unfortunately) kickstarted the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade (Portugal). To me the worst part is that despite how bias and heroic our country's History books were (dunno about nowadays) presented, there was always space to just acknowledge that slavery was not our finest moment and it did more harm than any kind of good for the slaves... unlike the US it seems! I honestly don't even think that the US as an Eurocentric view of the world!... At this point i think the US just tries to use Europe as an escape-goat for its own very practical, unregulated, greed and failures.
At the end... When it kept repeating 'No More Lies".... "No More Lies ".... "No More Lies ".... Ended with.... NORMALIZE..... very important to this message. #JukeboxPreacher
I’ve got something for Black History Month Paul Robeson - The World Inferno Friendship Society Paul Robeson was an actor, singer, athlete, and lawyer who was almost erased from history because of his political beliefs. You will probably need to follow with lyrics, it moves pretty fast
If you watch closely the is a shot of a guy holding a Trump for president sign!!!!! This video was made in the mid 90’s. Rage was sent from the future to warn us.
I'm white, grew up going to a mostly black school till 4th grade. Moved to a white neighborhood with 99% white people. Wish to this day I could go back to that "horrible ghetto ninja school" Lost a lot friends. Went from, yo white boy is "cool" to "OMG Becky. Look at that scrub."
Man, you need to check out the "Surface Tension - Завтра". Song of the year for me. They published this song exactly on the New Year Eve when we were attacked by ruzzian drones. But that song made all us grown up bastards cry with the tears of happiness. We couldn't go out to the streets but lots of people in apartment's houses around opened their windows and were singing songs and shouted to the black sky that we are not afraid and will never surrender. Check that out, beautiful and inspiring song.
respectfully, don't need to know you can "identify" instruments and dude, you think we don't know what's it's about... maybe do a blog fo the youngin's, cuz WE KNOW THE SCORE.
I knew he was Mexican. If any particular group in America knows what it’s like it’s Mexicans. I grew up in a mixed Mexican/black/white neighborhood. Similar struggles
He might not be in this song, but he mentions prominent African American figures in many songs and the struggle they've endured in plenty of his lyrics.. That's what the entire song 'Wake Up' is about lol.. Off the top of my head I can think of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr and Fred Hampton. And btw his father is father is a Mexican-American with some African and Sephardi Jewish heritage

Love when YT finds me a new RATM reaction channel and love your reactions. Been listening to them for 30 years now and still (sadly) very relevant.
Dude.. RATM litteraly has a song that says "A riot be the rhyme of the unheard." You are in for a treat my dude..
The circle of hate keeps crawling up your back.. unless you turn around and face it. Take the power back
Hell yes Brotha!

“We made, like, pseudo-progress, but in the long run, not really.” Fuck yeah brother. Rage.
👍🏾
Yes it is sad that the songs are still relevant. I grew up on Rage. I have subscribed for the Rage reactions.

Truly the best bassline to revolt to ever

Paul Robeson - The World Inferno Friendship Society
Paul Robeson was an actor, singer, athlete, and lawyer who was almost erased from history because of his political beliefs.
You will probably need to follow with lyrics, it moves pretty fast
If you check out sleep now in the fire watch the music video bc they played outside of wallstreet and the cops were called on them
If you watch closely the is a shot of a guy holding a Trump for president sign!!!!! This video was made in the mid 90’s. Rage was sent from the future to warn us.
"Vietnow" is one of my favourites of theirs
I'm white, grew up going to a mostly black school till 4th grade. Moved to a white neighborhood with 99% white people. Wish to this day I could go back to that "horrible ghetto ninja school" Lost a lot friends. Went from, yo white boy is "cool" to "OMG Becky. Look at that scrub."

RATM LIve 1993 (Pink Pop) - Fistful of Steel:)

You should listen to “No Shelter” next!
At the begining of life I named my creators Mama Dada and Wawa. Not father son and holy spirit. Awaken to self and TAKE THE POWER BACK LIVING CREATORS
This song is about the Mexican revolution
Interesting! Get the same
Feeling hearing his voice and lyrics though. Similiar
We've regressed since the 90's things are worse than ever.
Similarities?
KICK IT!!!!!!
You think
It’s funny how we only hear one MLK quote from a speech that would put that in context, but no one can be bothered with the truth these days.
King Kong ain't got shit on me!
commenting for algo
