These animators ability to consistently far surpass my expectations is unmatched tbh. Good lord this was once again AMAZING. Prayers to the animators though cause of everything surrounding it.

@@lonecreeperbrine yes . apparently 200 unfinished cuts of animation were removed from the episode and were replaced by background shots.Its truly depressing to think that this episode could have been the greatest piece of animation in the past decade only if more time was given to the animators so that they could manifest their vision. The Key animator list for this episode was totally stacked.
Not a spoiler just a clarification for the episode: the suspended animation sukuna was referring to was megumi being in a state of limbo, not alive, but not quite dead yet, hence why sukuna used reverse curse technique (rct) to heal him a bit before he left him with the principal, and shoko who also is capable of using rct to heal him further.
And the reason he was in “limbo” is because of the ritual subjugation. The ritual ends when either the shikigami subjugated or the participants of the ritual are all “dead” but true death doesn’t come until either of these is accomplished. This is why Sukuna was glad he saved blondie: As long as the blondie doesn’t die, neither will Megumi truly die since the ritual isn’t finished. He the. Proceeded to solidify the save by using RCT on megumi.
I think the translation in the manga made more sense, because state of suspended death made it quite clear that he was dead but would only be confirmed dead once Haruta was killed as well.
@@ngubod16The thing is these subtitles are not that accurate even in the manga Sukuna's attacks are named as Cleave and dismantle rather than "Fillet" and "Dissect" and even Mahoraga's name is wrong "Makora", along with the domain's name. So yeah, I watched with the correct subtitles one and they had it bang on. 😊

I read that the Japanese refers to a special room where food was prepared for the emperor and it makes sense within the theme of cutting flesh and sukuna as the “emperor” or king of curses but translating it directly as “kitchen” sounds so dumb

No spoilers this is just clarification for the Subtitles this episode.
Makora = Mahoraga the Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General
Malevolent Kitchen = Malevolent Shrine
Dissect = Dismantle
Fillet = Cleave
It seems like they just used the literal Japanese translations for this episode and not the official translations provided by the manga. Makora might be intentional though the Kanji when it was revealed in chapter 117 the same chapter today's episode adapted translated to Makora but the manga called it Mahoraga instead which is the sanskrit translation. So the Anime might be keeping Makora to keep it accurate to the japanese translation from now on instead of the sanskrit translation. Malevolant Kitchen is actually the proper translation based off of the kanji that is used in the manga. The mizushi-dokoro (御厨子所, mizushi-dokoro?) is an archaic word referring to a section of the Emperor's residential compound in the Imperial Palace, where food from the kitchen compound, meant for the Emperor's meals, would be brought for more advanced stages of preparation. The second character zu/kuriya (厨, zu/kuriya?) means "kitchen". But in episode 4 of Season 1 and chapter 8 of the Manga Sukuna's domain is called Malevolent Shrine not Malevolent Kitchen so that's definitely not supposed to be in the episode but Sukuna was definitely cooking this episode 🔥

Wrong, it's Makora, that's the original, official Japanese name given to it.
If you don't believe me, Makora is described as a divine general, coincidentally, it's name is shared with one of the twelve divine generals of the Buddha.
Mahoraga is still a valid name though,, just saying it's not the original.

Makora (Mahoraga) is the most powerful shikigami of the Ten Shadows Technique, the ultimate trump card of zenin clan, throughout its entire history no user has been able to tame it, what gojo said to megumi was very important because it basically killed the copy of gojo long time ago (yes it's that strong) if sukuna was at 4 fingers in that moment even he would've been cooked
I think Sukuna was talking about the form that he had from Heien era, four arms, two face.
Its also a nice little subtle feat for Sukuna's wit. Mahoraga is build in such a way that if you're taking the wrong decisions, it will defeat you, even if you're Sukuna. But he's skilled enough to know that he can't fuck around with this thing and promptly overpowers it.

He saw how strong Mahoraga was and was reflecting on that situation. If megumi really pulled Maho out he would've been finished back then. Heian form Sukuna is a whole different beast and only manga readers know what he's capable of

Its so sad that all Yuji wanted to do was save people like his grandfather wanted yet now he is responsible for the massacre of half the city. Its at this point where Yuji entire character arc changes, hes no longer the happy kid from season 1 anymore 😢
King Gnu said that the opening (SPECIALZ) is meant to represent the curses' side as they run rampant across Shibuya with Gojo sealed. I like to think that playing it over Yuji's breakdown adds to this, like they're singing over his suffering, similar to the way Mahito and Sukuna laughed at him when Junpei died in S1 💀.

People were hating on it online saying I turned it off when that happy music played and said the animation was trash for being hard to follow so they skipped it. On Reddit. I think they just can’t be pleased or hate action series. This is said to be one of the best arcs so they might as well quit if they still don’t get emotionally invested and say when does it get Gud like it’s been about 12 eps and so much happened. The suspended thing was megumi’s death as the ritual wasn’t finished until his summon died or he and the blonde guy did.

I wanna thank the animators at Mappa Studio for producing this crème de la crème of an anime called Jujutsu Kaisen, especially for the most recent episodes of the Shibuya Incident Ark, if they can do that under their working conditions and come out with a Masterpiece -well, then, its hats off all round JJK animators well done. They definitely need a well deserve and as much needed rest. Can wait to see what they do next!!!

Subtitles are really off in this episode , Mahoraga is translated to Makora and Malevolent Shrine is translated to Malevolent Kitchen
Not sure if y’all got the answer, but “suspended animation” just means Megumi was in a state between life and death. If Sukuna didn’t step in like he did, it would’ve been the end of Megumi. But because he was an outsider and he healed Megumi, the fight was voided and he got out alive.

Just some clarifications for the incorrect subs in this episode:
1. Sukuna's Disect is actually called "Dismantle"
2. Sukuna's domain is Malovalent Shrine, not kitchen💀
3. The suspended animation was actually reffering to Megumi being in a state of suspended death.

just fyi for those who wondering, if sukuna wasn't around, that thing won't be like on a rampage, once he killed either megumi or haruta, the ritual will be over and mahoraga will disappear instantly, so basically there are two ways for mahoraga to stop, by megumi taming it or dying

just some clarification, normally domains have a barrier which prevents opponents from escaping, sukunas domain is different since his domain has no barrier which allows opponents to escape the domain, however in exchange for having no barrier it gives him a 200 meter radius of attack for his guranteed domain hits. Also Mahoragas technique is adaption, it can adapt to any attack once it has been hit by it, the only way to truly take it down is to oneshot it with a new attack it had never seen. For sukuna he has dismantle and cleve? he used dismantle to hit mahoraga and mahoraga adapted to all slashing attacks so he had to use a fire based attack to end it in one shot.
