Absolutely excellent video. I was looking for a work around for my audio jack not working anymore after only a couple of uses on my 2020 Sony A7 III. This looks to be the answer I am looking for. Thanks for the very detailed review.
Can you talk about the loud sound the microphone makes from the shoe or the ball joint when vlogging- Its the only flaw I see on this mic- When you have the mic for a while, it starts making some noise like the ball joint is lose and it distorts your video heavily- some suggest you put a rubber around it as a hot fix. Thoughts?
Have you encountered the Sony ECM-B1M picking up the sound of the focus motors of your lens? I’m using a Sony FE 1.4/24 GM lens which I thought was silent until I mounted this microphone right above it. I bet it’s brilliant at capturing audio when doing macro work. I’ve only just tried the mic for the first time, in a relatively quiet environment, but it seems super sensitive but everything below it, even when my fingers touch the tripod I can hear them thump. Any suggestions on how I might fix this?
I never noticed that when I had that combo. I am on to lumix now but check the low cut settings in the mic and potentially use eq in post to find that frequency. Also might use the wind screen.
@@adamtalkstech Aw man, thanks for asking…I never get to talk about my gear!😁😁 I enjoyed looking at your gear page 👌 Well of course I have the Sony ECM B1M microphone. I also have the Rode Lavalier GO & Rode Wireless GO II but I never use them…I prefer using the Sony. My focus is capturing nature sounds, so the omnidirectional pattern won me over, but I was very disappointed with the quality of the audio until I found your video, other videos led me astray. I did not have a proper understanding of how it worked - now I do, and it should make all the difference, did a little test yesterday, came out very nice, so thank you very much again.🙏 Camera: SONY Alpha 7S III Lenses: Main: 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art Macro: FE 90 mm F2.8 Macro G OSS Zoom: FE 200-600 mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS + 1.4x Teleconverter Gimbal: MVG300XM Tripod: MK190X3-2W Bag: PILLBOX by Hazard 4 [absolutely love this bag] Editing software: Vegas Pro
@@adamtalkstech did some voiceover for my latest video...very nice. Just have to figure out the best audio level for outdoor use, once spring comes around I'll get lots of chances to practice. I was able to get the sound of a clay pot cracking while in the fire....so cool, tagged you in it so you can hear.
Honestly the RODE MIC that plugs in to the 3.5 mm jack was getting way better performance than this thing and that mic is only $99 Sucks to have a wire go into the jack but way better than this thing in terms of Auto performance.
THIS WAS the most clean and best review Ive seen in forever no fluff no bs no sponsor thank you what a great review.
I’m glad you found it helpful!
This was such a great video! Thanks so much Adam! Just got this mic and definitely feel fully ready to take advantage of all of the features. Cheers!
Awesome, let me know how it works for you!!
Superb explanation and breakdown - subbed!
Welcome aboard!
Hey Adam, what setting do you need to change in the camera?
Absolutely love this mic for ASMR
I haven’t tried that yet. Do you boost the gain on the mic?
@@adamtalkstech Yep, I usually keep it the audio gain at 5-6.
Reallty helpful! I was using this think wrong until now :D
Glad to help!

Weird I never had that issue but I don't vlog. I don't have sony stuff anymore.
