Dude, I just read about a bunch of gold coins that went missing in California about a century back and every time someone has found a fraction of the stash, something horrible happens. Hopefully tragedy didn’t befall the couple. My mom currently has the book I read about it in, so when I go to her house later I will edit with what the treasure was called. Edit: it’s the treasure of Cahuenga pass! A cursed treasure from the 1800s that went missing in Southern California. So far it has a body count of 9 people.
In India any such historic treasures found must be handed over to the government. Also in some beliefs its considered unlucky to keep them as such treasures are believed to be cursed.

IT could literally be anything honestly.
