LOL I love older games having no sense of scale. Blade's arms should have shattered the second he pulled the trigger if the chaingun rounds are that big!
@@SwannyTheMike Yeah a lot of games set in the near future used bigger bullets but not that much bigger. They usually go for rounds that exist but are bigger then standard issue ones for current weapons of the type, or something that could easily be made. Things like 10x25 mm instead of 9x19 being the typical round for Pistols and Submachine Guns and .10 or .8 gauge Shotguns most common instead of .12 gauge. The Pistol and Submachine Gun rounds in SiN are a real bullet just rare. Whoever created the Heavy Machine Gun round for this had no idea what they were doing.
Hey man, great video and I always look for another reason to revisit SiN. I also made a video about SiN and I don't know what it is about the game. Not the only one who feels the same way at the end of your video. One of my friends even said to how SiN seemed like it had some much potential. I always do wonder what it would have been like if SiN was more popular. More games? More media? Something about it is amazing and I hope SiN returns one day.
A lot of the appeal for me (besides it just being a really solid FPS) is SiN's unashamed immaturity. It's as if someone filtered Ghost in the Shell through Duke 3D and 90s superhero comics. Most games that would try something like that would do it as a way to be seen as "mature" and "serious", but SiN just revels in the cheese. I really think if Ritual hadn't been dealt the 1-2 punch of Elite Force II failing because Activision literally didn't burn enough copies to meet sales expectations and SiN Episodes limping out of the gate with a bad first impression, they would have been able to right the ship and SiN would probably be on the fourth or fifth game by now.
@@SwannyTheMike You are right about the ghost in the shell influence. I have spoken to some of the developers from SiN and one of them was Jim Dose. He would work on SiN as a Programmer and would work on other games afterwards like Doom 3, Half-life 2: Episode 1, TF2 and Left 4 Dead. He said: " Lots of films, anime and comic books. I loved Aeon Flux animated series at the time and liked the weird sexual tension between the two main characters and thought it would be interesting having a similar relationship between the hero and villain in a game. James Bond films were a big influence as well. GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies had come out around the time we were conceiving the game and inspired a lot of ideas for levels. Ghost in the Shell was also influential and HardCorps was somewhat inspired by Section 9. Other movies like Die Hard and Batman also had some influence."
I can see that. It's a travesty that the companies involved can't be bothered to sort out the rights issues with No One Lives Forever so we can get a rerelease or, even better, an HD remake.
I was wondering what happened to the Sin Remaster, guess Nightdive was too busy with System Shock Remake. I hope it comes to consoles too. I think their doing a remaster for Kingpin too. I'd like to see Sin return, heck, I bought Sin Episodes when it 1st launched. The adaptive difficulty was broken back then. Oh the horror. Good dam levels? Goldeneye 007 and Timesplitters 2 come to mind. I think there's a fun one in Return to Castle Wolfenstein too. And good flamethrower? Red Faction 1 2001 PS2 or PC. Sets the enemies on fire and they run around screaming. But watch out, they can set you the player on fire too.
Nightdive tend to be very quiet about remasters once they announce them. There was a point where I thought they were never going to release Powerslave: Exhumed. I totally forgot Red Faction had a flamethrower! That's another game I need to do a video on at some point.
I think they were remastering Kingpin Life of Crime too. Wish they'd remaster: Aliens Vs Predator 2 and Soldier of Fortune 1&2. Return to Castle Wolfenstein had a good flamethrower as did AVP2, but definitely not as over the top as Red Faction lol.
I'm really not sure if a remaster could make Kingpin enjoyable for me. Not unless they made a LOT of tweaks to enemy AI. Though I'd absolutely love a remaster of AvP 2 and both SoF games! At this point, I'd like it if there was just a GOG release of AvP 2. Rebellion seems desperate to hide how Monolith absolutely schooled them at making AvP games.
It's the brutal difficulty for the most part. I felt like I lucked my way through most levels because every enemy seems to have pinpoint accuracy the second they spot you. It just wasn't fun for me having to quicksave every two steps in case I turned a corner and walked right into a wall of bullets. Honestly, I probably should have cut the jabs at Kingpin during editing. I was fresh off of a playthrough of it for a video I scrapped and wanted to get some use out of the footage. In hindsight though, it was unnecessary and undermines my point about focusing on games that I find enjoyable.
@pedroroggla8129 I mean, it's not a surprise that three of the best FPSes of all time feel better. Though personally, I find Sin and Quake 2 feel about the same minus Sin's limb damage system. Then again, I've suffered through crap like Blood 2 and Requiem: Avenging Angel so that probably colors my perception.
I like how he shows visual examples of what he's talking about.
Wow if the Sin Wikia is accurate the rounds fired by the Chaingun have a significantly higher diameter then most aircraft cannons. that's insane.

I just found your channel via a random suggestion and retro gaming + a reference to Tobe Hooper's Spontaneous Combustion means instant subscribe!
Thanks! I love throwing in references that pop into my head while I'm editing.
11:08 how every bit in one of my intros are lol
If you can't drag a joke out until everyone but you is sick of it, then why even comedy?
@@SwannyTheMike exactly!
SiN reminds me of no one live forever
I can see that. It's a travesty that the companies involved can't be bothered to sort out the rights issues with No One Lives Forever so we can get a rerelease or, even better, an HD remake.
15:52 this was a reference to the film fatal attraction
It was contractually required in 90s media to reference Fatal Attraction.
@ 100% I also do like the way the referenced it here because it has the same effect. Evil woman uses her sexy ness to distract from her atrocities.

what do you think about No One Lives Forever ? Hope that review will be superb
I haven't played in quite a while, but I remember enjoying what I played. I'm a big fan of Monolith's FPS games in general.
Will there be a heavy metal f.a.k.k.2 video?
Definitely!
What’s your problem with Kingpin? I thought it was a good FPS

@@SwannyTheMikeThat’s fair man this is a good video though 😎
the control and the shooting is just terrible for me, everything feels slow and clumsy... half life, quake 1 and 2 and even doom have a better feel
