- Simon the Zealot is one of those twelve disciples that no one ever talks about, even in the Bible. I didn't know much about Simon until I watched The Chosen, and since then has become one of my favorite characters. A man who abandoned his family, all that he believed in, and became a rebel destined to proclaim some "glorious purpose" for a Messiah that might never come in his lifetime. He trained his whole life; he was the best. But what he didn't realize, is that the Messiah had not come here to start a revolution to free people from a dictatorship, but a spiritual revolution to free people from sin, where His message would be stronger than any knife Simon was skilled with. Jesus didn't need Simon or his skill as a warrior, but He wanted him anyways....whatever it took.

"I have everything I need, but I wanted you" that spoke so hard
So well done! You can tell Simon is a holy man by the way he doesn’t jump into the water after his dagger. His transformation into a disciple is instantaneous.
I love the scene where Jesus admires the dagger before throwing it away. It occurred to me that this scene demonstrates God's capacity as an artist, where He can admire the craftsmanship while not approving of its purpose.
“No Lord but God, to the death.” Loyalty to the God of Israel is unquestioned in this clip, very nicely put. The part that says “Zeal for your house has consumed me”, it also inflicts the very same effect, and I’m glad we we’re able to see a biblical verse where this can be drawn upon for the Zealots 1st Century. This is all a drawback to the feeling of what the Zealots had in history.
I know this is a lot to ask, but it would be absolutely epic if you could do character videos like these again once all 7 seasons are out! 🤯😃❤

Certainly the best depiction of Simon. He tends to get lost among the others. The Chosen mixes history and the word so well to really bring everyone out.

When i saw the chosen and got to this chapter it touched me so much, i am trained to be undercover, to kill and to gather intel, all from a young age, i was already baptized but didnt matter to me, the day came when i was called on a mission and thats when i learnt, that everything that i trained for was useless and the only thing useful i had to defend myself and to be around and preach, was the word of god, nothing else, didnt use any of my skills to preach, and i hope all the days of the rest of my life remains in peace as it has been

That was brilliant! It's wonderful to see the zeal Simon the Zealot had for overthrowing the Roman government becoming zeal for Jesus's teachings.
This one rivals the one you did for Matthew, which was so far my uncontested favorite. It covers his character arc (so far) so beautifully. But I have enjoyed all of your The Chosen material. The other things, are fascinating, too, especially the Oscar lists. But I never would have found them without the Chosen stuff.
Keep up the excellent work. Do you do things like this professionally? Because I think that you could...
I'm actually more of a screenwriter than an editor/this kind of stuff, I've only been doing this as a side project/backup plan. I'm glad you've been loving my work, it really means a lot and motivates me to make more content for you guys!
