Vince and creative were 1000% at fault for that. What were they thinking, they set Bayley up to fail at the time of her career. Removing any edge that she had especially when she had more gritt when she was in NXT and they made her complete joke.
@@RingTheBellealso the “This is your life” segment from Alexa Bliss to Bayley. That also really derailed Bayley’s character as well. Was probably one of the worst segments from the women during the time. 😅
Gail Kim self elimination is a political movement for me!! It was her way to show How unhappy she was with the divas treatment and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, when everybody Else was afraid of showing their real feelings about the women's division!! That IS one of the moves that helped the womens revolution in my eyes
For me, in the AJ pipebomb, when the Bella's are screaming "Say it to our face" I think they're talking about more like "Say it out of the character" or "Go back there and tell us in front, face to face" mostly cause AJ was written that segment and they didn't expected to be so, savage. Idk, it's kinda like the thing I got it.
AJ was absolutely on the money with her pipe bombshell. Total Divas was good for its time, but I personally lost interest after a while. And even before then, it just came off as "extra" to me, to which AJ debunked in her own way very effectively.
Stone Cold beating Lita with a steel chair was quite shocking. I loved it because Lita is awesome and she got to play a big part of that whole angle, but its still a striking (no pun intended) visual and would never fly today.
I think these were some kind of controversial moments as welll- 1, the beef of twins and mother maryse I wanna know everything about that . 2, when Cameron was supposed to return in 2022 but Ronda clocked Sasha by winning rumble and Cameron never came back 😢 3, the beef of mother Michelle and Beth phoenix …let’s talk about itttt ☕️☕️
Here’s what I know. Maryse, Kelly, and Maria exposed the Bellas for allegedly stopping them from coming back to the WWE. Maryse made her return in 2016 to the company as well as joining Total Divas, and that’s what led to the big confrontation they had on the show. As far as Michelle and Beth, it’s been rumored that Michelle got big headed after entering a relationship with Undertaker, so Beth felt like she needed to be humbled.
It's kind of weird how people are pushed to get the title and then as soon as they get it people are screaming for someone new to have it.. or just because they've won the title before its like they are expected to put over someone else or they are turned on
I'm convinced that Sasha and Naomi's walkout had something to do with either racism or sexism (they were probably called some slurs) because 2 women who had been in that company for 10+ years do not walk out over a "creative dispute"
DS you killed it with this list!!! The Sable vs Debra Evening Gown Match was also a controversial moment in Women’s Wrestling history! Sable at that time was on her way out of the company and she didn’t want to let go of the belt so they did her dirty and made her lose the title to Debra
100% team AJ. She wanted a serious women's division. And although yes Total Divas was iconic and brung in a lot of female & gay viewers but instead of wwe giving women time on tv they gave a reality show. And most of them were hired for their looks instead of their wrestling ability. (Not to say Naomi, Cameron and the Bellas aren't talented wrestlers but they were hired for their looks and later became something more) im not a fan of the divas era besides from some moments like The AJ Kaitlyn Feud, NXT divas era, AJ Paige Storyline.
This is 💯 percent true because the Bella Twins actually admitted that WWE specifically Johnny Ace hired them because they were twins & Eva was hired because she auditioned for Total Divas not because she could wrestle.
@MusicChanneI1738 huh? Because she wants women's wrestling to be equal and respected she's misogynistic? And not have women hired based only on their looks
@@kennymessias1928trying to slxt shame people while simultaneously getting popular off the cot tails of the most popular men in her era as well as dating high profile men before and after her debut is hypocritical in itself.. it’s easy to say these girls were only hired for their looks when wwe is only really investing in one person while leaving the others high and dry with lack luster storylines or none at all.
I remember an interview with past women superstars and Michelle saying her and Layla hated that storyline. I really commend mickie for just taking it and making it amazing.
I just want to point out that , you got one thing wrong on this list. Mickie James didn't win the feud... She actually lost the title less than a month later (23 days) back to Michelle and never got it back. There are a lot of moments that are kind of crazy when you think about it like this. Like Becky eventually losing the smackdown title to Charlotte after fighting over it for a year before moving on or Alexa Bliss ultimately winning the feud against Nia Jax after the "feel good" moment of WM. We remember the feel-good moments but not what actually happened at the end of the feuds 😅
I don’t think that was necessarily controversial, more so an uprising of fans who wanted women to receive better opportunities. It would be controversial if there were 2 heavily opposing sides, which there really wasn’t since it was pretty obvious which side was in the right
The Becky/Bianca 26 seconds was brilliantly booked, and Bianca is absolutely one of my favourite wrestlers of all time (even then). The outrage was exactly what they were going for. If Becky had won after a 15/20 minute match (even if she still cheated at the end), it would have seriously lessened the "robbed" sympathy for Bianca. It was a designed heel turn at that moment and instantly propelled Bianca in the road to being a top babyface in the company. "Let it play out" has often been used only to thej disappoint, or to deflect criticism. But this really was a "let it play out" even if people had no patience for it at the start. A story designed to strap the rocket to Bianca, right from the monent Becky walked out on stage at Summerslam.
Absolutely it was. I remember bring FURIOUS when Becky won but looking back, if Becky had won in a 15/20 match, it would have made Bianca look weak since Becky hadn’t been in action for 18 months up until that point. Thus it made sense for Becky to play dirty and beat Bianca in 26 seconds to get Bianca SO OVER and give her her redeeming moment at WrestleMania
I feel like the Piggy James storyline was too far only because it went on for too long, a combination of the BAS campaign, AND at this same time, we were suppose to cheer people for fat-shaming Vickie.
So about the Wendi Richter screw job according to Vince McMahon himself in his Netflix series he did that because Wendi was unprofessional & did not want to drop the championship & He claimed that she was difficult to work with. He told Wendi that she's dropping the title & Wendi defiantly said that she wasn't & Vince said Oh yes you are. Then he went behind her back & plotted the whole thing.
tbh I love that Lana is the sole survivor, after those table storyline she actually kinda perfect person who should be the sole, and the way that she just standing on iron steps tho😂
a few controversial moments i think of involve lita, like her storyline with Kane, Matt, and Snitsky, the wedding and the pregnancy and all that or how in her last match, she got humiliated by cryme tyme
I know the "Bark Like a Dog" segment didn't age well, but I'm a bit glad it happened because It made me like Trish more and want to root for her more like directly after. She was like one of the top people in WWE after that segment happened.
i think aj did a great job with her pipebomb, it got people talking!! i also think that the cast of total divas will forever be put down because of it though… those girls worked their asses off and no one will ever care to notice.
I agree w/ the pipe bomb being great. I don't think that the cast of Total Divas will be put down. I think the cast of Total Divas will be remembered fondly & there are so many women wrestlers now that are inspired by Aj Lee & the cast of Total Divas. Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade being inspired by Aj Lee & women like Maxine Dupri being inspired by The cast of Total Divas.
I don’t think that was necessarily controversial, more so an uprising of fans who wanted women to receive better opportunities. It would be controversial if there were 2 heavily opposing sides, which there really wasn’t since it was pretty obvious which side was in the right
Another honorable mention should be when Debra was Awarded the Women’s Championship from Sable even though Sable had already won the evening gown match. It was so cringe and awkward and Sable wore sunglasses the entire time and you could tell she was visibly mad. And she legit tried to take Debra’s clothing off.
Oh yeah, I remember that. It was another Vince getting a title off a talent fiasco. I was surprised that Debra won the title. Back then they were letting any girl or man win the women’s title. Besides Debra, including Miss Kitty/The Kat and Harvey Wippleman. I like Debra but she was not champion material. At least she only held the title for one month before dropping it to Ivory.
@@EX1515 Debra was the it girl at the time, and I thought it was fine she had the title at the time even though she wasn’t a wrestler. She still worked hard as a manager and was very over at the time. And she only had it for a month and lost it to a wrestler which is honestly legitimate. The only downside was that Ivory/Moolah fued was 💩. Miss Kitty being champion was garbage.
Honestly this is a GREAT Top 10 list. I would have moved # up to #3, and just bumped everyone down 1 spot, but that's it. I think the rest of this list is as close to perfect as a list that ANYONE could have made. 11/10
11:50 I’ve seen that a lot on a lot of wrestling websites like NoDQ and Jonathan Coachman’s podcast, Jim Cornette’s TH-cam channel, or amongst men who are in general hostile to Mercedes in particular because they think she sucks in the ring and is too confident. The amount of hate she gets mostly from men who don’t think too highly of women in general, unless they’re Charlotte or Rhea Ripley, is unreal.
I agree with your number 2 but your number 1 is wrong. The AJ bombshell was scripted but Shasha and Naomi walking out was real. The rest of the list is spot on. Love your videos
🤷 look at the comment section people are STILL fighting over who was in the right for the Pipebombshell promo. I think women’s wrestling fans overwhelmingly support Sasha ans Naomi for the walkout especially by now.
You know what, people, the one with Becky and Bianca worked as intended. Becky was returning as a heel while Bianca was the biggest face of the Women's Division at the time. Not only was Becky able to get heat out of it, but it strengthened the support behind Bianca. So, the 26-second Summerslam match was a smart move
AJ Lee was in the right and the Bella twins are hypocrites as if they didn’t make trans phobic comments about Chyna the same year this promo took place a month before this
I don't get Gail and Melina's elimination. Don't you get eliminated if and only both feet touch the ground after you fall from top rope? Both never went over the top rope...how were they eliminated?
Yeah, that should not be over Original Screwjob. Gail was just a subtle walkout that only Diva fans noticed as we decried how bad the division already had it. O.S. should be at least as high as Madusa Trashcan because both severely affected how the women's division went. Historians would actually write these down. But the shock factor is all the way back in the 80s, the "you had to be there" energy is lone gone. O.S. was in Moolah's Dark Side of the Ring episode - aka nothing but controversy.
The continous disrespect to Mickie James was awful and for her to return full time and still never gave her a proper booking was distasteful and of course the trash bag incident. They better gave a hell of run when she decide to come back and be for the title.🤍
I think gails frustration was started when she dropped the title n went to mid card jobber. To me it seems they really didnt have a interest in a asian american female talent at that time. If she wrestled now i think she would get a better treatment either way she became a bigger star in tna. Mickie was involved in the piggy james angle which may not have been a good storyline. But as worth of these storylines is the pay off is all that matters whether its mickie beating laycool or trish slapping vince n helping linda get revenge
The Piggy James storyline, I thought, was brilliant. Women critiquing / hating on other women is a big issue and I’m glad WWE highlighted it! But, having Mickie lose the title back to Michelle two weeks later was a stupid decision. Lita’s mistreatment / being overly sexualised after years of breaking down barriers as a high flying risk taker was disgusting! I take AJ’s side with the Total Divas feud. Granted, she may have gone a little too far, but also the other ladies coulda handled things differently. If they worked WITH AJ behind the scenes, rather than against her, they coulda really made something of that storyline
To me if someone feels like Trish’s segment is unacceptable then you are what’s wrong with pro wrestling. Like why can movies show domestic violence, crimes, slurs, etc and everyone can understand its a movie but with pro wrestling some fans refuse to suspend disbelief.. If Trish is ok with it that’s all that should matter

@@Venus_God2001I swear it was soooo hard to watch 😭
@@Venus_God2001 I've still never seen the Bayley "This is your life" segment.
AJ Lee needs to return to Royal Rumble
Now or Never
I was 8 In 2011 and I noticed when Gail left I was like 😿 but then my dad switch the channel one day and i saw Gail with Madison Rayne on TNA🙏🏼😂
We need another Aj Lee promo in the current era ASAP
For what exactly?
Santino winning the women battle royal at wrestlemania made me quit watching wwe for months
That entire battle Royal was hard tk watch. It was embarrassing and such a big disrespect to the whole women's division.
Aj calling them out was just truthful, the total divas got tv time and then it was just aj and everyone she feuded with were only total divas.
Stone Cold beating Lita with a steel chair was quite shocking. I loved it because Lita is awesome and she got to play a big part of that whole angle, but its still a striking (no pun intended) visual and would never fly today.
I think these were some kind of controversial moments as welll-
1, the beef of twins and mother maryse I wanna know everything about that .
2, when Cameron was supposed to return in 2022 but Ronda clocked Sasha by winning rumble and Cameron never came back 😢
3, the beef of mother Michelle and Beth phoenix …let’s talk about itttt ☕️☕️
Cameron was done so dirty I can’t believe they didn’t even try to get her back after Ronda won
Aj told it like it was, I forever love her for calling out the terrible state of womens wrestling at the time
It's kind of weird how people are pushed to get the title and then as soon as they get it people are screaming for someone new to have it.. or just because they've won the title before its like they are expected to put over someone else or they are turned on
I'm convinced that Sasha and Naomi's walkout had something to do with either racism or sexism (they were probably called some slurs) because 2 women who had been in that company for 10+ years do not walk out over a "creative dispute"
DS you killed it with this list!!! The Sable vs Debra Evening Gown Match was also a controversial moment in Women’s Wrestling history! Sable at that time was on her way out of the company and she didn’t want to let go of the belt so they did her dirty and made her lose the title to Debra
Madusa became iiconic with her wcw debut
The thing is, her delivery was wrong and that pipebomb is a prime example of internalized misogyny.
How wasn’t Litas pregnancy storyline not at least mentioned lol or Eric Young winning the Knockouts Tag Championship?
I just want to point out that , you got one thing wrong on this list. Mickie James didn't win the feud... She actually lost the title less than a month later (23 days) back to Michelle and never got it back. There are a lot of moments that are kind of crazy when you think about it like this. Like Becky eventually losing the smackdown title to Charlotte after fighting over it for a year before moving on or Alexa Bliss ultimately winning the feud against Nia Jax after the "feel good" moment of WM. We remember the feel-good moments but not what actually happened at the end of the feuds 😅
Give Divas A Chance deserved a spot. That was huuuge
Yeah, it had a great payoff. Also I believe HHH was named COO in the middle of the storyline. So that definitely helped Bianca get propelled.
Sasha Banks aka Mercedes Mone did the right thing for walked out from WWE due to Women tag titles getting mishandled
Then he went behind her back & plotted the whole thing.
tbh I love that Lana is the sole survivor, after those table storyline she actually kinda perfect person who should be the sole, and the way that she just standing on iron steps tho😂
ooh that was a good moment!
Aj Lee was 💯 percent correct about everything she said in that promo. That was an iconic moment. 💚👏👍
a few controversial moments i think of involve lita, like her storyline with Kane, Matt, and Snitsky, the wedding and the pregnancy and all that or how in her last match, she got humiliated by cryme tyme
As much as I hated it at least we got a great feud out of it between Bianca and Becky
@ that’s a great point! i didn’t think of that
I'd put Harvey Wippleman (Hervina), an actual male winning the WWF Women's Title from The Kat.
no give divas a chance? i don’t think anything was more controversial than that
I don’t think that was necessarily controversial, more so an uprising of fans who wanted women to receive better opportunities. It would be controversial if there were 2 heavily opposing sides, which there really wasn’t since it was pretty obvious which side was in the right
Lowkey surprised there’s nothing with Sable on this list 😭
Nor Sunny, both were controversial
I would’ve thought her relationship with Mero or hands bikini would be here
Nothing can beat sasha naomi walkout
Number one def should’ve been give divas a chance moment with that tag match with Paige and Emma vs Bellas
Miss Kitty being champion was garbage.
before I watch this video I’ll be surprised we don’t see the asuka and Mickie James ending
Bro, the story of Mickie James with LayCool was effective simply because it’s memorable, and that’s exactly how heels are supposed to act.
Honestly this is a GREAT Top 10 list. I would have moved # up to #3, and just bumped everyone down 1 spot, but that's it. I think the rest of this list is as close to perfect as a list that ANYONE could have made. 11/10
Charllote was right ❤❤❤
Mickie was definitely serving bodyyy & still is!!
Love a deep dive down memory lane 🔥❤
The AJ Lee promo was iconic the only people that hate it are Bella twins stans
11:50 I’ve seen that a lot on a lot of wrestling websites like NoDQ and Jonathan Coachman’s podcast, Jim Cornette’s TH-cam channel, or amongst men who are in general hostile to Mercedes in particular because they think she sucks in the ring and is too confident. The amount of hate she gets mostly from men who don’t think too highly of women in general, unless they’re Charlotte or Rhea Ripley, is unreal.
4:33 DS you are actually good looking 😃

😮 I'm shocked you took on this conversation-List by yourself
How about the "Submission Sorrority"? Jk. That was funny how they lead people out of wrestling with that name.
Aj’s pipebomb was amazing. It reminds me of CM Punk’s pipebomb in 2012
I believe the Sunny days comment by Shawn should also be included here. Sunny was WWE’s golden girl when there was no Women’s Division.
I like these do a part 2!!!!
I hoped you included Lana and Liv Love segment haha
AJ Lee was in the right and the Bella twins are hypocrites as if they didn’t make trans phobic comments about Chyna the same year this promo took place a month before this
WE LOVE YOU DS❤❤❤❤
so excited for WWFA (women’s wrestling fan awards)
I don't get Gail and Melina's elimination. Don't you get eliminated if and only both feet touch the ground after you fall from top rope? Both never went over the top rope...how were they eliminated?
Divas battle royal rule didn't need over the top rope elimination. Of course things have changed now!
I honestly feel like the Gail thing wasn’t nearly as big as a lot of other controversial moments.
Bianca did cry afterwards too
I 100% agree with Sasha and Naomi’s decision. Imagine if you were told what to do in a mean way, I would have walked out to if I was in that position.
How recyclable is that single use plastic from Factor? Or all that single use foil?
The continous disrespect to Mickie James was awful and for her to return full time and still never gave her a proper booking was distasteful and of course the trash bag incident. They better gave a hell of run when she decide to come back and be for the title.🤍
Love the new video DS idea and James
PLEASE tell me where I can get that neon Stratusfaction Guaranteed sign 😭
HERVINA ? 😂
More countdowns please 👏 Total Divas really changed WWE and the industry more than most people realize.
Becky's return and her beating Bianca in just 26 second was epic. 💪🏻
What about Sable sueing the WWE? and then returning
It's been over 10 years, but I'll never forget Aj reading the totsl divas cast for filth.
LOVE YOUR SHIRT
4:34 DS is such a babe.
Love these types of videos!
