I’ve always been a silent follower of yours and I’ve purchased a couple of your patterns. But I’ve always been scared to sew for other ppl. You are so helpful and you definitely inspired me to cross that bridge. Thank you so much for being so helpful ♥️
Great content. I loved how you showed how to adjust a pattern to a clients sizes. I always size up to the largest measurement, but this definitely makes for an easy way to adjust prior to sewing and cutting. My goal for January 2021 is to make my first floor length dress. I will be purchasing your pattern.
It does have to be stretch, the pattern is drafted smaller than actual measurements so it fits snug to the body. Non stretch fabric would come out too small and needs darts to curve to the body. This video explains how to draft a non stretch skirt pattern th-cam.com/video/9brF_PCwQMA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WrsG84hBdMkoiTUy
I think you can use this for a non stretch fabric, i have done it before, came out nice, the only thing Is you have to give allowance for your zipper to be fixed .
Hi you can print at home on 8.5x11” paper and tape it together, it’s 35 pages 5 sheets per row. Or you can upload the full size file to pdfplotting.com or check to see if Office Depot can print on 36x72” paper
That's funny I looked at this a year ago, finally got the pattern about 5 months ago and just NOW getting ready to execute! Hoping it comes out as nice as yours. I will send a pic when I'm done!
Love the fabric and the pattern also love the way you go step by step when explaining how to achieve the mermaid gown with train. I have a question though what do you record your videos with ?
What about when your client hips is smaller than waist.. bust 43 waist 39 hips 32 .. so that’ll be xl for the bodice portion but a size xtra small for the skirt portion.
Takeedra Moore my size chart waist XL is for 36”, actual size comes out to 30” since it’s for stretch fabric. Depending on how stretchy your fabric is you may want to make it wider in the waist. The actual size for the small hip is 32”. Being that her hips are so much smaller than the waist I would suggest a shapewear, she may be able to squeeze in a couple inches there.
Oh okay I was thinkin the size chart measurements was the finished measurements.I’m working with that lavender iridescent sequin mesh fabric . It seems to stretch both ways
ok, Im trying to use this method but I have a question. I purchased this pattern but is there a video showing you sewing the godet if the back is longer? mines isn't lining up
Lovely video. Thank you. My only request is please tell us the kind of fabric you use and amounts of each. It would help alot of us to us understand better. Love you ma'am
I’m super late seeing this comment but I do sew with woven as well and I’ll be releasing patterns for non stretch fabric as well as new tutorials very soon!

Nia Allwood I’m so flattered! This is exactly my goal - to help make sewing easier for everyone! ❤️
Where can I buy your patterns ice been looking for patterns for about a year now and they're all confusing but yours seem fairly beginner friendly

You can do it! I’m planning to expand the Mermaid Gown from XL to a 3X soon also so even more can be done with it!
Thank you so much for this, may the good Lord bless you. You have no idea how long I've wanted to know how to made this
Very useful video! Love the fabric, too!

Thanks this helped a lot! I wanted something different from the cut at the knee look😃
Thanks Karen for this it,s wonderful,, but please where did u attache d four triangle u cut out.
Love your videos
I wish you just had the mermaid shirt pattern only?
I got this pattern so excited to use it
For the back train can you just cut on a fold for a sleeker look?
I just purchased the pattern! Can’t wait to use it!! 😃😃
Nice video.. Thank you. Please, I'll like to confirm if you added the godgets to the side of the skirt
Yes they go into the sides of the skirt from knee to floor for fullness!
You have the perfect tutorial voice lol. Im booking you for my birthday dressss
Can you confirm, the 1 yd was used for the top of the dress and lining of skirt?
Good work
Thank you!
I got so lost when you were cutting the back of the train. What did you sew together? How did the seam become split did you flip the fabric?
And what were the triangle pieces in the corner ?
Can we use any fabric or does it have to be stretch?
It does have to be stretch, the pattern is drafted smaller than actual measurements so it fits snug to the body. Non stretch fabric would come out too small and needs darts to curve to the body. This video explains how to draft a non stretch skirt pattern

Thanks sis!
Love the fabric and the pattern also love the way you go step by step when explaining how to achieve the mermaid gown with train. I have a question though what do you record your videos with ?
I’m late lol. I used to record with my iPhone you can adjust the settings for higher quality. Now I record with a canon sx740
That train is huge!!! LOL
Hey do you divide measurements by 4 parts on the paper
What about when your client hips is smaller than waist.. bust 43 waist 39 hips 32 .. so that’ll be xl for the bodice portion but a size xtra small for the skirt portion.

Oh okay I was thinkin the size chart measurements was the finished measurements.I’m working with that lavender iridescent sequin mesh fabric . It seems to stretch both ways
Takeedra Moore size chart is the body measurements, actual size will be 85% of body measurements so it fits tight to the body
Karen Guinn Customs ok got cha.. thank you
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you purchase all of the fabric you used?
Do you need the paper to make the train?
ok, Im trying to use this method but I have a question. I purchased this pattern but is there a video showing you sewing the godet if the back is longer? mines isn't lining up
You have to trim it so it lines up, I don’t have this on video, but don’t overthink it, just trim it so that it looks good.
Awesome
Can you show how to sew a mermaid skirt
what will horse hair do for it?
Give it a more wavy feel
Name of fabric plz ....
Nice video, so where did you add the 4 godets? I by the sides or where?
Yes by the sides
how long is the shipping
Lovely video. Thank you. My only request is please tell us the kind of fabric you use and amounts of each. It would help alot of us to us understand better. Love you ma'am
