We know this because one of his character stories says that his meeting with Jing Yuan is recorded in the military annals, which would only make sense if something major that involved Yanqing went down. It would also be weird for Jing Yuan to take in a kid without knowing if he has remaining family. There are 3 possibilities for this. I can add a few strange details about Yanqing. First is some weird thing with his age. I think someone know but in HI3 exists novel about the 7 students of Fu Hua, in which Yanqing was the youngest student. And the fact is that in HSR there are also Fu Hua is very interesting. In fact but for some reason Yanqing’s age is greatly rolled back, since in the original novel he should be older than Sushang. And it wouldn’t have bothered me so much if not for the fact that the other ages remained the same as in the novel. Sushang has the same age and her mother too. Moreover, In Sushang's message, you can see that she said that Yanqing's movements remind her of her mother's movements (who is also a great swordmaster like in the novel) so it's very strange for me change age only for one character. Second detail, is confusion between VL of Luocha and Yanqing. One of them is clearly lying, most likely Luocha. My theory is that Yanqing’s parents are traitors to Lofu who went over to the side of Abundance and somehow influenced their son. However, before his probable death, they were able to negotiate a normal life for their son under the guise of an orphan. And Jin Yuan protects the boy from a terrible truth that can ruin his life. I also predict that Yanqing’s parents were not strangers to the General, since he personally took the child into his upbringing. I've been really looking forward to this reveal ever since I read Yanqing's story.

He definitely does have the habit of buying, collecting, and then hoarding swords, but I don't think that has any correlation to blood on a battlefield. After all because of his sword obsession he makes sure they're in perfect condition, even if not up to Yunli's standards. It likely has to do with Jing Yuan refusing to put him in more serious, dangerous battles. Say the theory is true-the sword breaking could be indicative of Yanqing's death in which he pulls a Dan Heng just with abundance, meanwhile the bloodshed could be a rising, growing interest in the frailty of life. Depending on what you define abundance as, a battlefield completely covered in blood could be abundant.

But still, I’m a little bit skeptical about this line making a reference to yanquings past and/or future, more so with yukong’s dislike of how jingyuan handles (or handled, with the new storyline of the war dance) his pupil. But still, all other points of this theory (general sus design choices, plus a seemingly mysterious past) are pretty valid, so better keep our eyes peeled.
I have a theory that Yanqing is actually JingLiu’s child. My main suspicions for this is the many parallels the two share. JingLiu is the previous Sword Champion, Yanqing wants to be a Sword Champion. Both use Ice powers, Jingliu taught Jingyuan, who now teaches Yanqing. We’ve seen Jingliu interact with Yanqing a few times already, first is during the Trailblaze Quest, where she ends up testing him in eliminating the Mara Struck, in which she ends the test with delivering a powerful strike at Yanqing, where he focuses enough of his strength to overpower the strike. Another encounter is witnessed through a Celestial Myriad Trailer, where Jingliu asks Yanqing why he wields a sword, and she can personally connect with each reason he gives. Both of these encounters are a major learning opportunity for Yanqing, which feels like a slightly motherly indicator. Also, for whatever it’s worth, I’ve noticed how the Quintet from centuries ago, is now replaced in the present. Jingliu - Yanqing (Sword Champion) Jingyuan - Fu Xuan (General) Dan Feng - Bailu (High Elder Vidyadhara) Yingxing - Yunli? Or Sushang? Which she inherited from her mother, and then we have Sushang from HSR who has a sword she inherited from her mother as well. Now we even have the Yanqing vs Hoolay bit where he compares his sword strike to Jingliu's. I think you might actually be right. Either way they're definitely connected strongly. Welp maybe we'll find out in the next patch since it's guaranteed that she's going to show up

Yanqing is a time traveler robot from the future who has his ear bit off by rat but now has to go back in time to babysit Jing Yuan because his future self told him to do so.
Fun fact that i found out recently!: in hi3 he is mentioned as being a disciple of fu hua. it was in a singular line in i think it was somewhere in story chapter 20 when we were looking at one of fu huas memories. and considering how fu hua is one of the strongest characters in hi3, yanqing might end up being one of the strongest characters in hsr. i dont know a lot abt hsr lore but i think that there was also a fu hua in this universe so maybe yanqing also was taught by her in the past? i also wonder if yanqing ends up with fenghuang down somehow and gets power from that. i know that this theory of mine that he ends up becoming one of the strongest characters in hsr could be wrong considering how the different versions of characters from hi3 and hsr can end up being pretty different form eachother (an obvious example is hsr seele and hi3 seele). sorry for the semi related rant abt my theory, i get excited easily and yap a lot abt my theories because of that. also the abundance yanqing theory is incredibly interesting and i am kinda curious to see if it ends up being true
Yanqing's design is likely a tie to the nature associations of The Hunt. Lan having both Horse and Archery design choices, representing a traditional hunters bow and arrow as well as the Horse that hunters would ride on when out hunting deer, as opposed to the rifles and mechanical motifs instead used by the Galaxy Rangers, who prefer Lan's ideal of violence against violence. All Hunt characters (except Galaxy Rangers or IPC) have a link to nature in some thematical way, Feixiao with a wolf, Dr Ratio has an owl and a Laurel Wreath, even Moze has several bird feather details. Yanqing in particular follows this concept better than most, seen in his light cones, he tends to be around a forest or river of sorts, the same environment a hunter would be in. He is seen relaxing by a river in "River Flows in Spring", or in a forest too exhausted after training and falling asleep on Jing Yuan, in "Sleep Like the Dead". Yanqing also has many dove motifs in his gameplay and design, representing peace and love across many religions, which ties in with his persona of being a carefree child with an optimistic innocence, fighting to protect, rather than to kill outright. He also has bell ornaments and a flute, both having links to ancient Chinese warfare as well as Taoism, often used to ward off evil spirits, communicate distances indiscreetly or to help warriors with inner peace, following the naturalness ideals found in the belief. As for Luocha, its already known that has the remains of Tayzzyronth in his coffin and he's been in contact with Ruan Mei/Genius Society in relation to possibly creating an artificial Aeon. While both he and Yanqing have blonde hair, often playable characters have unique appearances to distinguish them from NPC's. However, the trait is not unique amongst Abundance characters, being shared with Serval, Aventurine, Gepard and Hook, all of which follow paths unrelated to the Abundance or The Hunt. But yes, it is stated by an NPC that "his (Luocha's) blonde hair doesn't match the clothing of a Xianzhou native" and that "he feels like those older Xianzhou natives", so Yanqing's blonde hair does have some plausibility, but we don't actually have confirmation of what Luocha's home planet is to begin with. He is classed as a trader registered with the Xianzhou Yuque, who "appeared on the Luofu one day", but nothing about him being initially from the Xianzhou, so its highly unlikely that the two share a connection outside of whats happened in the game already. AKA; its increadibly unlikely that Yanqing will be pat of the Abundance... Especially as place of birth has no direct relation to path. If anything, its more plausible that he was the son of a Xianzhou native + a non-xianzhou who were discovered sometime later? There is a rule where Xianzhou natives cant leave the fleet incase they spread immortality to the rest of the universe. Could be that one parent died and the other was either imprisoned of was mara-struck, Jing Yuan saving a young boy in the process. HOWEVER... it doesnt say Yanqing is a 'confirmed' Xianzhou native on the wiki, so him being from another planet is equally a plausible explanation, so long as it incorperates him being a long-life species which is almost fact based on interactions in the game so far. (ok Yanqing fanboying over now :3)
I completely agree that they’re doing something with Yanqing. Either that or he’s the developer’s favorite because he is just so damn prominent and featured haha. But it can’t be denied is 5* is almost useless comparatively, so exploring his background would be a wonderful reason to give him another path or updated “adult” Yanqing, etc. But no offense, the path of abundance evidence seemed flimsy at best lol. Essentially it was “he has blond hair,” and “wouldn’t it be neat?!” I just need more evidence than that. He is a sweetheart with the kitten dilemma, but that could just as easily be harmony or just a sweet boy. In any case I do hope they continue to develop him. That’s twice now he’s unwittingly summoned a giant ice sword to stop an attack and seemed surprised by himself, meaning his powers and skills are coming from something latent and buried.

Spoilers for the current patch, 4.5 I believe; I think, even if there's some silly stuff mixed in, that this is so wild how close you seem. At least to me. I know I'm not the only one who saw the Jingliu "in" him when he defeated the borisin guy, right? Right?? And for this vid to be two months old? I'm not too caught up on Jingliu's story, because like a surprising amount of people the story of the xianzhou and even the high cloud quintet didn't interest me much, so I don't know much about her significance in that scene. It almost feels like the game just dropped her to the side, kinda. But Jingliu and Luocha seem to be working together in some way, they should still be imprisoned or being questioned right? With Luocha carrying the remains of...some dead aeon I honestly forget, Jingliu cameo through Yanqing, and even Ruan Mei's goals with the propagation? Maybe I'm losing it, but there's gotta be something there. Overall, again, though the theory does admittedly have a lot of wild speculations in it, I still think there's something there. Maybe it is the abundance, maybe it isn't, but I've definitely got my eye on him now. I did before because of everybody calling this kid weak, but now especially since he's proven his strength both in game and to the players.
No offense but this is such a bias headcanon. The theory doesn't make sense at all, all of the "proofs" can easily be debunked. It's kinda obvious that you're reaching too much just because he's your fav and you want him to be relevant(he already is). Yeah Yanqing's origin could be from the abundance but i doubt it's gonna change his character because yanqing already has his own identity and purpose. He doesn't serve the hunt because he "doesn't know his origins", he CHOSE to serve the hunt by his own choice. Yanqing isn't just some kid who's gonna turn evil just because he's an abomination of the abundance, he's also a lieutenant who can make the right decisions for himself even if he was being mislead(heliobus event) or learn about his origins(especially after he witnessed feixiao fight against her origins) . Let's be fr and not mischaracterize him to fit your headcanons

Fun fact that i found out recently!: in hi3 he is mentioned as being a disciple of fu hua. it was in a singular line in i think it was somewhere in story chapter 20 when we were looking at one of fu huas memories. and considering how fu hua is one of the strongest characters in hi3, yanqing might end up being one of the strongest characters in hsr. i dont know a lot abt hsr lore but i think that there was also a fu hua in this universe so maybe yanqing also was taught by her in the past? i also wonder if yanqing ends up with fenghuang down somehow and gets power from that. i know that this theory of mine that he ends up becoming one of the strongest characters in hsr could be wrong considering how the different versions of characters from hi3 and hsr can end up being pretty different form eachother (an obvious example is hsr seele and hi3 seele). sorry for the semi related rant abt my theory, i get excited easily and yap a lot abt my theories because of that. also the abundance yanqing theory is incredibly interesting and i am kinda curious to see if it ends up being true
Yanqing's design is likely a tie to the nature associations of The Hunt. Lan having both Horse and Archery design choices, representing a traditional hunters bow and arrow as well as the Horse that hunters would ride on when out hunting deer, as opposed to the rifles and mechanical motifs instead used by the Galaxy Rangers, who prefer Lan's ideal of violence against violence.
All Hunt characters (except Galaxy Rangers or IPC) have a link to nature in some thematical way, Feixiao with a wolf, Dr Ratio has an owl and a Laurel Wreath, even Moze has several bird feather details.
Yanqing in particular follows this concept better than most, seen in his light cones, he tends to be around a forest or river of sorts, the same environment a hunter would be in. He is seen relaxing by a river in "River Flows in Spring", or in a forest too exhausted after training and falling asleep on Jing Yuan, in "Sleep Like the Dead".
Yanqing also has many dove motifs in his gameplay and design, representing peace and love across many religions, which ties in with his persona of being a carefree child with an optimistic innocence, fighting to protect, rather than to kill outright.
He also has bell ornaments and a flute, both having links to ancient Chinese warfare as well as Taoism, often used to ward off evil spirits, communicate distances indiscreetly or to help warriors with inner peace, following the naturalness ideals found in the belief.
As for Luocha, its already known that has the remains of Tayzzyronth in his coffin and he's been in contact with Ruan Mei/Genius Society in relation to possibly creating an artificial Aeon.
While both he and Yanqing have blonde hair, often playable characters have unique appearances to distinguish them from NPC's. However, the trait is not unique amongst Abundance characters, being shared with Serval, Aventurine, Gepard and Hook, all of which follow paths unrelated to the Abundance or The Hunt.
But yes, it is stated by an NPC that "his (Luocha's) blonde hair doesn't match the clothing of a Xianzhou native" and that "he feels like those older Xianzhou natives", so Yanqing's blonde hair does have some plausibility, but we don't actually have confirmation of what Luocha's home planet is to begin with. He is classed as a trader registered with the Xianzhou Yuque, who "appeared on the Luofu one day", but nothing about him being initially from the Xianzhou, so its highly unlikely that the two share a connection outside of whats happened in the game already.
AKA; its increadibly unlikely that Yanqing will be pat of the Abundance... Especially as place of birth has no direct relation to path.
If anything, its more plausible that he was the son of a Xianzhou native + a non-xianzhou who were discovered sometime later? There is a rule where Xianzhou natives cant leave the fleet incase they spread immortality to the rest of the universe. Could be that one parent died and the other was either imprisoned of was mara-struck, Jing Yuan saving a young boy in the process.
HOWEVER... it doesnt say Yanqing is a 'confirmed' Xianzhou native on the wiki, so him being from another planet is equally a plausible explanation, so long as it incorperates him being a long-life species which is almost fact based on interactions in the game so far.

I completely agree that they’re doing something with Yanqing. Either that or he’s the developer’s favorite because he is just so damn prominent and featured haha.
But it can’t be denied is 5* is almost useless comparatively, so exploring his background would be a wonderful reason to give him another path or updated “adult” Yanqing, etc.
But no offense, the path of abundance evidence seemed flimsy at best lol. Essentially it was “he has blond hair,” and “wouldn’t it be neat?!”
I just need more evidence than that. He is a sweetheart with the kitten dilemma, but that could just as easily be harmony or just a sweet boy.
In any case I do hope they continue to develop him. That’s twice now he’s unwittingly summoned a giant ice sword to stop an attack and seemed surprised by himself, meaning his powers and skills are coming from something latent and buried.

I think, even if there's some silly stuff mixed in, that this is so wild how close you seem. At least to me. I know I'm not the only one who saw the Jingliu "in" him when he defeated the borisin guy, right? Right?? And for this vid to be two months old?
I'm not too caught up on Jingliu's story, because like a surprising amount of people the story of the xianzhou and even the high cloud quintet didn't interest me much, so I don't know much about her significance in that scene. It almost feels like the game just dropped her to the side, kinda. But Jingliu and Luocha seem to be working together in some way, they should still be imprisoned or being questioned right? With Luocha carrying the remains of...some dead aeon I honestly forget, Jingliu cameo through Yanqing, and even Ruan Mei's goals with the propagation? Maybe I'm losing it, but there's gotta be something there.
Overall, again, though the theory does admittedly have a lot of wild speculations in it, I still think there's something there. Maybe it is the abundance, maybe it isn't, but I've definitely got my eye on him now. I did before because of everybody calling this kid weak, but now especially since he's proven his strength both in game and to the players.

No offense but this is such a bias headcanon. The theory doesn't make sense at all, all of the "proofs" can easily be debunked. It's kinda obvious that you're reaching too much just because he's your fav and you want him to be relevant(he already is). Yeah Yanqing's origin could be from the abundance but i doubt it's gonna change his character because yanqing already has his own identity and purpose. He doesn't serve the hunt because he "doesn't know his origins", he CHOSE to serve the hunt by his own choice. Yanqing isn't just some kid who's gonna turn evil just because he's an abomination of the abundance, he's also a lieutenant who can make the right decisions for himself even if he was being mislead(heliobus event) or learn about his origins(especially after he witnessed feixiao fight against her origins) . Let's be fr and not mischaracterize him to fit your headcanons
