I was also very skeptical before this video ngl, but now I think the theory might not be that outlandish.... amazing. I overall agree with the theory even. It IS very true we don't know anything about yanqing's origins before jing yuan took him in and that means there's lots of possibilities!! Yeah, like, when you hear it alone it really does sound like something that is 100% impossible. But then it starts making a little bit more sense. Nothing completely concrete, but enough to bring a small doubt. Him having an empty backstory means infinite possibilities, so I am super curious for whenever we see that. Hoyo cooks so hard with HSR, I am gonna go manic and insane when Amphoreus releases. They are giving me GREECE HSR and a trailer called the Golden Epic. My mythology brain goes brrrr

This theory is most certainly interesting. I feel like the fact we don’t know Yanqing’s origins before he was taken in by Jing Yuan whatsoever feels like Hoyoverse is setting something up with him for the future. It is definitely interesting how of all the Xianzhou natives in the playable roster and their various hair colors, Yanqing is the only one with blonde hair. I’m also glad you point out the color connection yellow has to Abundance. Small details like this are the lifeblood of theories like this, and the fact they exist and feel intentional are why this game is so captivating to dig our teeth into.
Yeah the fact we don't have a concrete origin story means they can bring out some very obscure hidden facts or just make some extra lore and stories to fill in any gaps they want to their advantage. And yeah, while there has been no confirmation on the yellow hair being a key factor, it does feel at times as if Hoyo was hinting towards that, and they are very good at leaving crumbs for us to look into, whether it be to guide or distract us. It definitely helps keep the game alive, especially during down times/"content droughts"
I honestly like the theory. I like the poetic part of Jing Yuan basically taking in a child of abundance. I also heard a theory that Yangxing will be a leader of a new generation of something close to a high cloud quintet that Yunli will be a part of
I like that concept for it too as well. Especially because we know Jing Yuan has done things to defy the Hunt by aiding his friends from the High Cloud Quintet. In spite of their sins I have seen that as well. Especially with how we have our own set of mini high cloud quintets with Yanqing, Sushang, Bailu and Huohuo all being apprentices in their field, but seek to grow in their own way. And to a certain extent we also just happen to have a short life species in the Xianzhou mix with Guinaifen + Qingque as the diviner that is most proficient, even if she is lazy

With Yanqing and Bailu, from the Loufu, Guinaifen as the outworlder, Yunli in Zhuming and Sushang from the Yaoqing. That would be sick I can see Huo huo taking over as the head of the Ten Lords Comission with Tail by her side, and rework the system there

Saaame honestly. It would be such a tragic but heartwarming story. We have seen Jing Yuan go against the Xianzhou ideals and even break the law when he spared Jingliu and freeing Dan Heng. So having him trying to hide Yanqing's past to protect him would be in character
You really did well with the video!! Though there is something you forgot to mention, by that I mean how quickly Yanqing recovered during the Wardance compared to others who got less injured. I really hope this theory, or Rememberance Yanqing theory becomes true. He's such an interesting character, and there's so much more potential. I love how you mentioned that borisin prisoner who dreams of trading outside the prison. Even though it hurts, people judge us by our origin. That's what my fanfiction is also about, Yanqing lost everything he worked for his entire life just because of his Abundance origin. My fanfic is just a "fanon AU version that we cope with until HoYo decides to do something" (ᵕ-ᴗ-) Another cool thing I forgot to tell you about is that the end of his hair turns blue whenever he goes "flying mode" It's well noticeable during his fight with Dan Heng and Blade (and that's why my fanon Abundance Yanqing design has blue hair at the end) Yanqing is a character that made me happy countless times, he's one of three things that help me continue living and going forward. I'm very thankful to HoYoverse for creating him. And soon we are getting free 5*!! I cried out of joy when they announced it, it's been over a year ago when i got my last Yanqing... I do wish that they tell us more about these healing factors, since we know from Yunli's storyline that even if decapitated, a Xianzhou native will be able to heal back, from that one Cloud Knight and Guyun. Something that isn't a luxury for Foxians(May my boi Jiaoqiu make a swift recovery )or the Vidhyadara A rememberance based Yanqing from the potential of him using Six Phased Ice would be neat, if that was the case Arma deserves the best. yanqing has a lot of vine motifs such as on his clothes, phone case and on one of his 4 star light cones and noticed yaoshi has a bunch of vines on them on their splash art!!
Oooooh I'd have to look more into them. Definitely an intriguing concept. I always see Yaoshi as big spider with long nails. So I never looked closely at their design in their art. It makes me uneasy aaa
I think another jokingly reason Yanqing recieved such bad luck was because he is iteration from his HI3 counterpart was a cheater, loved to fight to strong opponents and betrayed his master. Karma from another life lmao. At some point I suspected Yanqing and March to be from the same planet and capable of using Six-Faced Ice ability, the reason is because I saw the intentional focus on his eye shining the same fuschia/blue shine which remind me of March's color palette.
Oh 100% I feel like that is the case too, I did not play Hi3, but I did hear his counterpart is hated and was a cheater, despite the fact he was a good fighter I think. I was not aware of him betraying his master, which I think was Fu Hua, if I recall correctly, that is wild. Thanks for educating me on that! If he is actually capable of Six Phased ice and they reveal him to be a foreigner, hence his yellow hair that would also be really sick! I definitely would be down for that. We do get those hints of March's colors during his special big sword attack he developed while fighting Jingliu and Hoolay, so I can see that.

Yeah, but also it did make sense for the type of character he is. His own ego, so to speak, is a bit fragile given how much he admitted his losses to Blade, Dan Heng, Jingliu and Kafka were. So, in this case, any damage he takes makes him lose his cool and his confidence, and as such his damage buff and crit rate which would be like his technique in his sword play I feel
Honestly a very interesting theory I think it would be so, SO ironic (and so in tune with how hoyo does their stories) if we watch him grow, watch him get stronger and closer and closer to the hunt, training with Feixiao as hinted at in 2.5 and so on, just for him to turn out to be the very thing he's hunting. And i think in that case Feixiao's role of almost a second mentor could be really well explored, as she herself suffers from being her own enemy. And especially if it turns out that, like you said, Jing Yuan is purposefully hiding Yanqing's past, it would create a very interesting and tragic conflict between the two. Plus, it could tie some things together. We know barely nothing about him, nothing about his backstory, which i don't think hoyo would do unintentionally. For someone as important to the Xianzhou story as Yanqing, knowing this little is very weird and imo definitely setup for something in the future. But yeah that's abt it from me, great vid and theory 🫡
Honestly with how much main character energy he is being given. Not only do I want him to train with Feixiao, but I also hope he at some point gets a new sword that is specifically crafted by Yunli for him. Because it would such a cool moment of the story that the first time those two met she took his sword, and now she is giving him one that she trusts he'll take good care of. (Also ngl, I lowkey just now imagined like the swordssmith from demonslayer, getting angry and attacking him if he dares to damage the sword she crafted just for him). I am hyped to see whatever it is that Hoyo has got setup up for Yanqing in the future. He has been thriving and growing, and I wanna see him get a happy and joyful story conclusion. Honestly the abindance is one of the most interesting paths/aeons/organization, i NEED more characters linked to it and giving my boy Yanqing some more depth is GOATED.
I definitely like how they have advanced forward the Abundance from just mindless zombies at first to a nice variety of characters with the Borisin, Jingliu and even Hanya + Xueyi. On top of us seeing how the abundance affects people in general
MY BOY YANQING 😭😭😭 On a serious note, I definitely find it interesting that Yanqing is the blonde in the Xianzhou. Not to mention we know know only a little of his past. Heck, he could've been adopted outside of the Xianzhou. It would be definitely interesting if Yanqingbis was related to the Abundance (and maybe sad don't hurt my boi tho)
If I recall correctly. I think even in the voicelines character, when they mention Yanqing, they often say "Oh the blonde boy" or something of the sort. Which honestly feels like he is so easy to spot because of that one physical feature being rare in the Xianzhou. His past is what I am most intrigued on If they hurt Yanqing they better give him some top tier character growth and the greatest come back and an ending that makes him happy. Truly his struggle against himself and his doubts were some of the best narratives in HSR. And I loved those stories
I find this theory to be intriguing because we Hoyo hasn’t given us a lot of info on Yanqing’s backstory. This theory kind of reminds me of Feixiao because she was with the borisin but later went with the Xianzhou and became the general of the Yaoquing. If Yanqing was somehow connected to the abundance, it gives an explanation to why Jing Yuan took him in (to oversee him and to be able to use him to defeat the Abundance). This is a great theory!
Yeah we do not know about his past, so that being an empty canvas for them to fill will be neat. I loved Feixiao's story conflicts and how well they used the fact she is part Borisin to move forward the narrative

Honestly same, like I mentioned in the video, though on first glance it seemed odd, the more I looked into it, the more invested I got, and I loved it. The idea of a mara stricken Yanqing, similar to Jingliu, having outbursts of rage and recklessness would be neat to see. We know he tends to hold back for our sake, so seeing him go rampant would be awesome. I feel like them making an aggro Abundance character like they did with Gallagher and Luocha would be neat. Though I too am of the idea of him having empowered rage fueled abilities like Jingliu has
Same, I really like the theory and I'd enjoy more expansion on it but I do feel like there's a lot of room for holes in the theory. But I definitely enjoy the prospect.

5 star abundance yanqing will have perfect synergy with hunt yanqing. One can hope lol. As for the theory, i really like it. The sparrows form his special attack mught even be related to it

I can't say anything for certain yet, there is so little actual evidence. But at the same time, the writers ARE cooking something up with Yanqing. He might just be the Luofu chrachter with the most screentime/continued plot relevance outside of the general himself.
Yeah, the amount of evidence for it is still too inconclusive/defining for now. But I do hope to see whatever route the devs are cooking in the hoyo kitchen. They legit go in and bring out some top tier content and lore for us to feed upon. Rappa and Boothill's lore still have me in a Chokehold. And yeah I do believe he is one of the characters with the most screen time in the Xianzhou yes
This theory is actually very interesting, although it does seem like a stretch. Yanqing is a character full of potential, w/ all his similarities w/ Jingliu and his relationship w/ Jing Yuan, while also being mysterious regarding his backstory and past before meeting Jing Yuan. Knowing JY’s character, he definitely had a good reason for picking him up, so him being some sort of creation of the Abundance could somehow make sense, though he hasn’t shown any power that’s exclusive to the Abundance. His character will definitely continue to be developed in the future. Also I’ve never noticed the lack of blond characters in the Luofo, it’s a small but intriguing detail. I’m very excited to see how hoyo handles his character in future continuances of the story!
Yeah, there are a few parts with holes that can lead to it being debunked or strengthed. We saw how much growth and potential he got back in 2.4 and 2.5 (as well as 1.5). Him acknowledging his failures and learning from them is one of the best things honestly. Like, that one speech he said to Yunli was so perfect for his character growth. Also Yanqing not being able to remember anything before he started training with JY is suspicious, so his backstory is something I 100% want Technically speaking every Xianzhou native is a little bit abundance. Since they originally weren't long life species. In Yunli's quest we learnt that a cloud knight can be decapitated and "die" but if you reattach their head back to their body they'll come back to life (Foxians and Vidhyadara are not so lucky). And I think most Xianzhou natives only really "die" because they become mara struck And yeah, as patches have gone on. They've added more blonde NPCs. But also they keep hinting at the Denizens of Abundance infiltrating areas over and over again. So I am just there with my tin foil hat overthinking
Honestly deep diving and looking into the lore/details of a character is always fun. Geniunely some of the most fun I have had while making videos and playing HSR
I felt actually pretty impressed by this theory but it makes a lot of sense once you put it in perspective, tbh I thought it was my just imagination when I suddenly notice the lack of blondes on the Loufu, I always had a voice at the back of my mind telling me that could be important for something that I got a bit excited when that got mentioned in the video
Yeah, it really only hit me when Skott became a character that I felt was more than just an average NPC. I was told about the Blond hair potentially being something to look out, so in trying to disprove it I realized there actually were no Blond NPCs as far as I could tell
I added some extra spice. But people have been cooking up this theory for a while now. Also, I forgot to add that technically all Xianzhou Natives originally weren't Long Life species until Yaoshi sprouted an Ambrosial Arbor back in their originally home planet (not one of the ships). They have super healing powers with the one Cloud Knight in Yunli's quest saying he got decapitated, but survived because someone reattached his head to his body quickly enough. But in that brief moment he died
And he indeed had the most potential. My boi has been thriving in lore every patch and I live for it honestly. The conversation he had with Yunli at Stargazer Navia made me adore him. Him acknowledging his fears of losing and learning to move on was just peak content
Honestly, I'd prefer it if he was connected with Abundance for the sheer ANGST potential this would give the story. Until Aventurine and Sunday showed up, Jing Yuan and Yanqing were my favourite HSR characters and I've been deeply invested in their relationship since the beginning. The Remembrance is also a cool idea, and it has some massive plot potential, but it's not as dramatic as Abundance when he's so invested in the Hunt. And also, thank you for defending Yanqing. People have been so unbearably annoying about his losses on the main story quest, as if he's not a teenager keeping his own about the local legends of the Xianzhou!!! I can't wait until he gets his own 5 star version, whatever path or element it is. I love that boy so much and I know I'd pamper him as much as his base version :) Thanks for the wonderful video
I live and breathe for the angst honestly, I am always a huge fan of these types of writting that make me feel rough and emotional for a character. Aventurine has been a great addition, and honestly narratively speaking Boothill and Rappa stole heart over and over again. And yesss I definitely have been enjoying reading more about the Rememberance theory! I am honestly glad I can speak positively about Yanqing as a character. I know because of the meta people tend to talk bad of him. But when I chose to actually make a deep dive on characters I started liking him more and more narratively. I honestly though yanqing could get mara struck after all the jingliu him, and honestly at first i didn't care much since I didn't quite like him Though after the mision and his scene with hoolay he gained my respect, and Thinking about it more and after seeing the video, it just makes more sense to me, all the parts are quite understandable and make some sense, that Could be a future buff for him too And we know phantilia is still around, so maybe she could go for him The only thing i dont quite agree because of how crazy is the theory is the colours blonde and that part just on that part i dont quite agree I mean, Yanqung has a lot of potential as a character, and his appareances could also lead to more Jingliu and Luocha appareances (They are in jail but we havent seen them since Jinglius story quest) But Yeah i would like all of that to happen! I understand not everyone has discord Honestly, until 2.4 and 2.5 came out, the reason I thought Yanqing would get Mara struck was his constant defeats eating up at him, especially with how affected he seemed by the words Apyra was telling him. I was so happy that by 2.4, when he speaks with Yunli, he admits his shortcomings and mentions what he is doing to improve, both physically and mentally. Regardless I want him to get another form to showcase his character development Yeah blonde hair part is one that I feel at times it may be a bit farfetched, and again we do see blonde characters in the loufu, though they are meant really rare. Ever since i started the game yanqing has always had a special place in my heart and to see how much he has grown despite all the struggle and insecurities really resonates with me and gives me courage to do better myself. Having watched this video the only thing i can nitpick is that jingliu didnt activity teach yanqing, she kinda just jumped him and ran😅 Yanqing mostly learned her move through observating her moves when they were fighting. Other than that everything abt this theory is on point with what i thought for a while
He is honestly great. I like how his own insecurities and struggles were somewhat reflected unto his kit. With him losing his buff (confidence) the moment he gets in combat. In all honesty a lot of the stories from HSR have been very encouraging and empowering to me. Especially Luka's in the Wardance patch ngl. And yeah that is true. It was more so a put Yanqing under a lot of pressure to force him to develop lol
This is so interesting, a theory crafter in Bilibili did a video a while back about Yanqing’s connection to the abundance. It’s so cool that more people are starting to see this connection. I’m hoping Hoyo will go into depth about this if it turns out to be true once we get to a planet that follows the abundance.

@ I can’t find their username, it’s not a whole video dedicated to Yanqing, I was looking through Bilibili hoping to find it. If I do I’ll let you know. I do remember some of what’s mention, the longevity amulet/symbol on Yanqing (it could be just a good luck charm from elder or something more), him being adopted by Jing Yuan (no one knows where he came from), hair that’s different from other Luofu character, we still aren’t 100% sure if he is a long life species. It’s strange that Yanqing have so many symbols on him wishing for long life and longevity (traditional Chinese Symbols that we give to the elderly) even though Xianzhou is against the denizen of abundance. I have a feeling that shuhu isn’t dead or part of shuhu isn’t dead, also the wingweaver are really interesting so it could be about them as well. I’m also interested in seeing abundance fraction that are not denizen of abundance.

Honestly, this theory makes me want a limited 5 star Yanqing. Like, what if the eminator of Abundance is will be him? It kinda fits with all the themes of continuing this path leading to ruin. I will say though, I definitely feel the devs want us to pay attention to him, as he's been in a lot of stories in a prominent role. Which feels unusual unless they have something planned for him?
A limited version of more HSR characters would honestly be sick. Ever since we fought Kafka in Apocalyptic Shadow it has made me wish we got a Harmony Version of her. I feel like also it is quite simple to become affected by the abundance or become mara struck, because they got parasites and even being like Shuhu which literally can revive the dead, like a whole planet (Rahu). And given how Blade's talent is called Shuhu's gift I reckon something relating to it must be the reason Blade is now Mara Struck too I do feel the same, the devs like to drop hints for us, and he is constantly growing as a character, so I geniunely do like that about them. Even in this wardance patches, we got to see more of him so I hope we get to learn about his past. Or have him travel to another planet with influence from the Abundance, since he did show interest in traveling with the express at the end of the 2.5 quest. Mainly the whole part of him wanting to grow by encountering new places

I have only recently heard of Yanqing being linked to the rememberance, and I have been enjoying reading about it in the comments and any discussion forums I could find. The reason why I think blond hair is associated with the abundance because it represents what the abundance signifies; uncontrollable mutations. Blond hair color is a mutant phenotype occurring from a genetic mutation; something that the path of abundance instills within the Mara struck causing their bodies to mutate; some of these mutations may be only aesthetic related such as blond hair and blue eyes.
Honestly I want more characters to get that treatment. I hope they do that for Sampo when they showcase him with his mask and potential powers Also, ngl at this point these are not just extra versions of a character. I lowkey just see them as skins you can get via the gacha system. Which means more money for hoyo. Though I am exagerating with that comment
Honestly, I can't blame you, because I too thought I was becoming crazy the more I looked into it. It was a lot of fun though. There are parts I cannot justify entirely, such as the whole Blonde hair concept, but the fact Jingliu is used as a parallel to him does keep that red flag raised and keeps me alert
Just some things I figure I add, That Yanqing knows Luocha but Luocha says he doesn't know Yanqing, which is suspicious. Yanqing's connection to the Rememberance, he has great memory, sixth phase ice, ability to copy things he has only seen once (Jingliu's technique) and Ice pathstrider. I think we are gonna get more lore in 3.X when Fu Hua releases, She was Yanqing's master in HI3 and 3.X is the Rememberance patch.
I think Yanqing probably knows about Luocha because of criminal records after he got imprissoned, but that is the only thing that really comes to mind. Since Yanqing is always nearby Jing Yuan, and I assume information he has available too The Yanqing and Rememberance connections keep getting stronger the more comments I read and I love it so much honestly, I hadn't really thought of him having the ability to copy things as a Rememberance trait, that is sick. And, from the Trailblazer Drip Marketing, if the path's main gimmick is having a pet/summon, then it would fit him having swords he would be capable of summoning like in his own boss fight I am really looking forward to whatever lore we get from the Marshall and potentially any of the other generals! So I do want to see what interactions Yanqing and Marshal Hua will have!

Well, I think this theory is very uhh INTERESTING, Abundance and Yanqing don't seem connected, as yanqing seems VERY VERY hunt oriented. So, this must be maybe BEFORE he started trainng with jing yuan as otherwise that might've not maken sense. In the wardance arc they did give yanqing more lore, but not much about his path. So, maybe we will find out soon!
Interesting is a perfectly good way to put it. Yanqing has always been connected primarily to the hunt, the one thing that gave me the suspicions was how effectively he commanded the storm of swords while being under a Heliobi's influence. They are "Living" swords. So it just makes me feel like how Yaoshi supposedly controls the Mara Struck's minds. As far as we know Yanqing has no memories from before he met Jing Yuan. His earliest is of him training with the general. So having an exploration of his self and lore reveal would be awesome Also, I need more Mr. Tail deep dives into a person's psychology. Skott's was... intriguing, but makes sense. But Luka's backstory. That one hurt, a lot more. And we knew it from context and it still hurt
I think if there was an adult 5 star version of Yanqing he would definitely belong to abundance. Maybe he would discover more of his link to the abundance to the future.
I think we'll see more character development in this direction. I think this guy will play an important role in the Aeon war, or even a key one. We may see confirmation of his connection to Abundance, but I think he'll remain a good guy.
I want for us to get an Abundance Follower or even a Faction that geniunely is a good person. Not just morally gray. It would be neat to see how they see the Xianzhou hunting them down. Despite them not wishing to pose a threat to them We have seen Borisin trying to make peace with them before. But they just imprissoned them regardless for being tied to the abundance
This theory is interesting, i kinda see how his parents may be linked to the abundance if true, it could completely change how we see his role in the story and it also might explain why Jing Yuan adopted him
Yeah there has got to be something there with parents that has yet to be revealed, and I find that to be most interesting. We know Jing Yuan has bent the rules before for people dear to him, so having Yanqing be linked to something like that as the reason for him being now under Jing Yuan's care would be both emotional and great Also it would be a nice way for Hoyoverse to give us a a more positive, main story, narrative about the Abundance, we tend to see them and the denizens of abundance as evil, but if they show us some more of the beings that defy Yaoshi, despite existing because of them, it would help us see the Abundance and more morally grey. And, as always, Xianzhou is always shown as the "good guys" with their own bad things going on, so seeing a switch in that perspective and hearing good people being slaughtered/imprissoned solely for being related to the abundance would be cool to mess with our perception
theory makes some sense. I think the sword being tied to abundance is pretty out there, but yanqing is one of my favorite characters outside of gameplay, so anything giving him more story significance is a win for me. I really hope he gets a second form like DHIL or M7H. I have him e3 despite knowing I will never use him, and I wish he was better considering he is a 5 star and somehow kinda feels like the main character of the luofu lore. he has a compelling tie to both past and future events, and seems to have the most actual interaction with the characters. (DHIL has ties to blade, but yanqing has chemistry with more relevant characters, especially jingliu). really crossing my fingers on a new yanqing form so one of my favorite characters can be more than tails for my coin flip.
Yeah that is fair. Outside of gameplay they have given Yanqing some great narratives. And I too wanna see a 2nd 5 star version, especially after all the growth he has received

but highkey it is interesting if he ends up being a descendant/inheritor of an yaoshi’s power? maybe future storylines will involve luochas coffin and yanqing somehow inheriting the power of the dead aeon within it
IKR, and the worst thing is under orders he'd likely be told to slay him and show proof given all his disobedience in freeing Imbibor Lunae, and not taking down Jingliu when she became mara struck
There's definitely *something* going on with him idk if im convinced with this tho. I feel like remeberance connections are just as likely. There probably will be a limited 5* version of him considering how much the story focuses on him, but i can't imagine it being anything but a dps
Yeah, I feel the same way on that. Something is different being hidden to us from his lore/backstory, so it will be something that I'll be eager to see when the time is right. The rememberance connections have honestly been fascinating and I have been liking them a lot
I think that there are some interesting points you and others have made. Yanqing is a good character and it is a shame that some people have reduced him to simply being the "punching bag". He is quite a capable fighter, directly from his character story is this section: "When hunting near a distant star, the monstrously huge mechabeast Windguard created by the Denizens of Abundance was pulverizing defense forces as though they were ants. But this young boy met against it face-to-face, claiming its head and routing the enemy to the point of collapse". It very much sounds like he did that solo and it being something that few people would be capable of. While he did lose battles, such as the one against Blade and Dan Heng, it doesn't seem like those losses are landslide defeats and that is against people who were legends & some considered the most dangerous in the cosmos. He's not quite at their level yet but he's close/got the potential to be and this is while still being a young teenager. While I find the implication about blond = abundance intriguing, I don't feel there is enough to back it up even with how sparse the amount of blond haired characters on the Luofu. Though Luocha is directly connected to the abundance, he is still an outsider. The Luofu is only a part of Xianzhou, we haven't seen the other Xianzhou ships so don't know if this also extends to the entire population across the alliance. Also technically all Xianzhou people have been affected by the abundance (I'm not 100% sure about the Vidyadhara and Foxians but definitely the Humans). My thoughts about his sword that broke away from the formation to seek help is that it was the influence of a part of Yanqing fighting against the possession. Like a part of his mind that could see that what was happening was wrong and needed to stop, like a sense of duty and such rather than like a created sentience. The biggest thing is definitely Yanqing's unknown background, where did he come from, parents etc. It's very clear that he is far from ordinary and a thought I have is that he could be a direct creation of the abundance which could explain his power, strength and such like someone said about him healing quicker. It could also give an explanation to why Jing Yuan took him in which is in order to keep a close eye on him, utilize Yanqing's capabilities and prevent him from being used against the Xianzhou. While I absolutely believe that Jing Yuan genuinely cares about Yanqing, it is also in character for him. It does mention in his character story that how Jing Yuan found him is known but it actually doesn't say how. It could connect to Jingliu's interest in Yanqing. Luocha is her ally in her mission, if Yanqing is like Luocha, in the connection to the abundance, then he could be useful in their mission even without joining them. Or simply she could just see Yanqing as a reflection of herself. I did have a passing thought of what if Yanqing was her child or a relative but this is a stretch as something like that would have to be mentioned by this point. Regardless his unknown history must be a sensitive or forbidden topic if it isn't talked about. I'll stop here but it is quite interesting to look deep into characters, the lore and make connections. Hopefully what I've said makes sense.
Yeah not enough people give him enough credit for all the things he has accomplished during his time in the Xianzhou. Especially the fight versus both Lunae and Blade, with him going pretty well against the stellaron hunter on his own. The moment he lost is when Blade became truly angry seeing Jingliu's technique. So naturally became more aggresive which is also an issue for him at close quarters combat. And as you said it isn't like he got knocked out of sent flying he lost but stood his ground even against the overpowering strength of 2 xianzhou titans It isn't enough to make an assessment and that is why I did want to add that blond NPCs do exist in the Xianzhou even if they are decently rare. I definitely want to see the other Xianzhou so badly. I know Xianzhou natives and Foxians have been. Vidhyadara were helped but I don't think they qualify since they do grow old at a decent rate I think, but they have become eggs every like 200 ish years I think it was? The unknown background is the thing that I am definitely looking forward to the most for when it hopefully gets revealed. I do believe as well that Jing Yuan cares for Yanqing, he is the most kind hearted and caring character in my opinion. All his dislogues about people from his past, including Igor from the War Dance event, always showcase how much he cares and wishes for the best to those around him And yeah, them being relatives sounds like a stretch, since we have no evidence but it is a neat thing to keep in the very back of the mind I feel Thanks a lot for the comment and information. Really fascinating theoryy. I saw someone else here talk about his version in Hi3 and I must say.... his character in that story was definitely surrounded by betrayal (of his own doing, though from what I've heard, he betrayed Fu Hua because she kinda deserved it? Take that with a grain of salt), so it's ironic that he has connections to the abundance here. That being saiiddd, I don't think he's gonna do anything like betrayal here, mostly because he's been set up to be the "protagonist" to the typical hero story (at least, in the trailblaze mission that centers around Feixiao)
Yeah, I am recently learning about Hi3 lore, which I do very slowly, but I do find it fascinating. I would like to see a parallel here, where Yanqing would be one of the people to betray the Xianzhou Ideals, which we have seen can be morally gray to brutally awful at times (Like Hanya and Xueyi's punishments, especially in the way Jiaoqiu's voiceline describes them) So now I am imagining Yanqing being one of the people to go against the marshal (Hua), but this time he would be seen in a more positive light. I will have to learn what Fu Hua did in Hi3, since now I am curious. I do like the idea of him being the typical hero, which would still set him up to betray wrong ideals that the Xianzhou has had for many years now. And I say this also because of Feixiao's story, since she as a Borisin had fears of what the Xianzhou would say about her at times, even Hoolay tries to mess with her by mentioning that
I believe yangqin has the most potential in the future and the fact he’s a foreigner and he has blonde hair a color that’s not associated whit the hunt but rather whit abundance thru the fact locuha is an abomination of abundance also yangqin is a long life being even do he is not a xianzhou native that just mean he has had or his ancestors have had a convection to the abundance and this isn’t stated by anyone else usually people forget he’s a long life species even do he’s not a local of the alliance
Having him be revealed to be a foreigner would also be neat and it would explain why there is no actual record of him and his parents within the Loufu, I do quite like that. Honestly having him be from another planet where they have being that would be considered denizens of abundance, but that actually are docile and pacifists would be nice. Abundance, giving life always felt like it should have been "a good guy" path, given all the healing powers and such. So actually seeing a positive faction, and having them be a point of tension for the Xianzhou would be interesting. Because similarly with the Cartwheel Temple, they offer peace, but they want to take every opportunity to refuse it. Also the only reason Xianzhou natives became Long Life species is because of Yaoshi, so any and other worlds influenced by the Abundance would be long life species. I forgot to add this on the video. But in the Yunli quest, we see a Cloud Knight that mentions they cut off his head, but because someone reattached it, he came back to life. So they have some supreme healing factors too!
I still can't connect Yanqing to the Abundance with what we currently have but, one thing i got hyped and i really hope would happen after 3.x is how Yanqing mentioned he wants to join the Astral Express and travel the cosmos. Maybe when he starts his journey through the cosmos, he might also learn more about himself, especially his origin.
So, something I should have added. Technically speaking all Xianzhou natives are linked to the Abundance. They became Long Life species because of Yaoshi sprouting an Ambrosial Arbor in their original planet In Yunli's quest we see a Xianzhou Cloud Knight mention he got beheaded by Borisins. But a boy was able to reattach his head in time for him to not die And that was just a one off soldier who refused any and all help from the heliobi in sword. Meaning that is just raw regeneration power Xianzhou natives have. If I am to interpret that correctly

An interesting theory, I however feel like this will culminate to a moment where he could choose between "More Power" or defeating/saving people he cares about and he has to make a final choice. Maybe he could become an emanator of the Hunt to possibly be the thing that destroys Yaoshi years down the road? Not sure but that would explain why Jingliu saw promise in him and opted to teach him her technique. Also Idk how to explain it but I always had a creeping suspicion that Ruan Mei may someday fall into Nihility if some things go awry.
I definitely like that idea honestly. I like when there's moments in the plot where they appeal to a character's humanity/empathy by tempting them with unimaginable power or some sort of benefit they yearn for most. I definitely want to see him become an Emanator of the Hunt. And in all honesty I can see him being the one to erradicate Yaoshi, mainly because his element is Ice, which usually is something that makes living conditions impossible for plants and such. To a certain extent ice and cold is the absence of life Ruan Mei honestly terrifies me. When she gets mentioned in the lore I am expecting things to take a dark turn
@@ManCarSua Yeah it'd be so cool if he somewhat did a March on Yaoshi, just encasing her in ice so powerful with a "arrow-like piercing sword" that she froze from the inside out and dies that way lol And yeah no now just imagine if Ruan Mei became mad mad about her experiments failing or even more apathetic of how her experiments could affect others and stuff due to Nihility touches or something. No real evidence to confirm this thing but I just think it could be crazy if she got some tie in's with Nihility
This is a really interesting and cool theory, and it would be nice to see this in the story. Just a tiny thing I want to point out though; technically both the Xianzhou natives and the foxians are Abominations of Abundance, as they are species that have been granted long lives by Yaoshi. If Denizens of the Abundance had blond hair, there would be a lot more blond haired people on the Luofu. Personally, I don’t believe that Luocha is an Abundance Abomination, more that he is closely linked to the Propagation (Propagation and Abundance are pretty similar paths, I believe someone, possibly Herta, once mentions that they wonder why the two Paths haven’t assimilated each other) Not 100% trying to debunk the theory here, just thought it was worth bringing these points up.
I completely did forget the fact that Foxians are considered abominations. I always was looking at it as just the Borisins. But I think you are right now that you mention it. You make a great point about the blond hair I can see him getting mistaken for Abundance as Propagation. We did have as well with Acheron as an Emanator. Where Aventurine suspected for a moment she was a Finality Emanator. I will be looking for that voice/dialogue about the paths not assimilating each other! Honestly, the theory that Yanqing might have ties to the Abundance is pretty interesting. Like, his almost ageless appearance and crazy skill could hint at something more, especially since the Abundance is all about life and immortality. Plus, HoYoverse loves their plot twists, so maybe there’s some hidden connection to Yaoshi in his backstory. That said, he’s clearly tied to the Hunt right now, so it’s hard to say. Could just be overthinking, but it’s fun to speculate!
Yeah, all Xianzhou Natives are effectively Immortal because their ancestors came into contact with Yaoshi. They got an Amborisial back in their actual home planet. So in a way all the Xianzhou Natives are linked to abundance even if a little. That one soldier in Yunli's quest mentions they cut off his head, but because a kid reattached it quickly enough he came to life. And that was just like a one off random soldier, not even a liutenant or general I definitely wish that something related to Yaoshi is in his backstory. It would give Jing Yuan a conflict of interest. Like if Jingliu and Luocha want to use him as part of their godslayer scheme, but he doesn't want to endanger him

I do wish to see Yanqing get a 2nd 5 star version of himself. Especially with how much he has grown as a character throughout all these patches
This theory is so interesting since I don't think HSR has shown a lot of lore relating to Yanqing and his backstory. I hope they do in future updates😭😭 Jing Yuan said he just found him but didn't really explain where, I have a feeling he might actually know..Also it is weird how Yanqing is like the only blonde in Xianzhou, sharing the same hair color as Luocha who is coincidentally abundance..this theory's onto something🔥

Jing Yuan seems to actively discourage Yanqing from looking into it by saying it would cause stress and such, from what I recall, so that feels like it will be something he'll have to face in the future and struggle to combat those realizations. And yeah him and Luocha being the only blondes at the Xianzhou Loufu is intriguing There is also the theory of him using also using Six Phased like March does, which I find to be super interesting, and would make him a foreigner too, which would explain the blonde hair as well as just a foreigner detail

It geniunely would be cool to have new 5 star versions of characters we see grow and evolve during the story. We also technically have that for Fugue and March. So seeing it for him or a more healthy/deranged Blade are the ones on my list Also, the line back in 2.5 that he wanted to travel with the express to grow further also made me wish for him to become and see how new areas would make him develop
Yeah, we keep on learning of him growing and developing as a person. So having his past possibly affect his point of view or the way he feels about his identity would be neat
Overall this theory is really lacking some proper evidence so I don’t really know what to make of it right now. But my favourite part was the discussion surrounding yanqings parents. It would be very interesting if it turned out his parents were somehow related to abundance, maybe followers of sanctus medicus who were either arrested or killed and that's why jing yuan is raising him.
There are a few things to iron out. And that Hoyoverse would have to either confirm or deny. So for the most part it out in the open. Then other alternative I like is him potentially being a foreigner from a place that also has long life species as their residents. Or as you said his parents being related to the abundance, and that actively reject Yaoshi and the negative things they do. Similarly to the Cartwheel temple or Arma for Borisins. Or Tail for the Heliobi too now that I look at it
What you didn't mention is his thematic ties to swallows/sparrows. During Mao's reign, one of the 4 animals he encouraged the farmers of China to 'wage war against' were eurasian tree sparrow. The once plentiful species in China, that had helped pollinate their crops (though also accidentally destroyed them looking for bugs to eat) was nearly wiped out into extinction, which caused the famine under Mao's rule. While yanqing is more obviously swallow coded in design, most of the areas hes in are not the open spaces he would find comfort in as a 'swallow', but moreso like a 'sparrow', e g. layout of the ship is crowded, not telling luka who he is (sparrows like to blend in and hide) I think the true swallow is the sword, and yanqing is the sparrow.
I honestly had no idea about the meaning of sparrows and swallows. So after failing to get any relevant information, I gave up on it sadly ;-; Thank you so much for educating me on that! I really appreciate it. The fact they nearly wiped them out of extinction is absolutely crazy wow. I would have never thought of or known about this. I'll definitely make a note of that. To add onto the freedom/open space. Though not literal, him becoming a liutenant could add onto it. He had to give up his freedom and fun, in exchange for duties and things that will have to keep him busy from most things he naturally would enjoy as the kid he is I did get to learn that ironically, Yanqing's sword is called Yanzhuo which uses the character for Swallow and Pecking if I recall correctly. I know for s fact the Yan (Yàn / 燕) chinese character they use is for swarrow, so it does fit with what you say. So that is a really neat detail to add and connect now knowing this
WHAT IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO YANQING IF THE PLAN TO KILL THE ABUNDANCE SUCCEEDS?! I fear there’s foreshadowing that has some deeper meaning I remember reading about but don’t know where, but it could be something like how Sunday follows (or followed) order even thought that Aeon was absorbed, Aeons being messed with tends to have all kinds of consequences, like tingyun getting attacked… something something… by destruction something something and now she’s nihililty. Perhaps something bad will happen to yanquing and he almost recovers but there’s this cutscene where he breaks through with his sheer or willpower or something like the protagonist troupe and if this is weird blame me for staying away too long. Then hsr uses this possibly Mara-stricken but newly empowered 5 star yanquing. It would definitely make money. they gave him character dept with the 2nd main quest about the loufu and would make bank with all the people that like him already and already dedicated yanquing mains. Especially if they cook with his kit, mb it could have hp manipulation. Idk, would be cool🙏
Honestly that would be so horrifying. Just a whole if they succeed in slaying Yaoshi I am terrified. One of the things with Immortality that has forevered scarred me was DC's Black Adam portrayals in some Comics. The moment he would transform back into his mortal self, he would begin to rapidly age for all the years he had been immortal in his magic form. He had become immortal, but if he ever lost the power, he'd age until his body became bone and soon after dust in a matter of seconds/minutes. So that is a fear I have if the Xianzhou wins I do like the idea of Yanqing being faced with a sort of trial of his will because of some event or harsh battle he has to endure while in the hunt for the Abundance. I do want for him to grow and develop further as a character and he has been the most interesting character in the Xianzhou alongside Jing Yuan. And I adore the 2 of them for it. They would make so much money with people that like him, people that enjoy new playstyles too. And also... for as messed up as it sounds, new forms of characters that exist already, I find them to be lowkey just super buffed skins. You get a skin for your character for when you walk around the world, with a new kit in gameplay and hoyo made you spend more than the 30 dollars I think the diluc skin cost in Genshin. It's a win for hoyo. I definitely want HP manipulation as a mechanic, but for me, I'd love that if it was implemented in Voracity (if we ever got that path empower by self damage/damage allies and heal from certain passives)
If he gets his upgraded limited 5 star version I will be insta pulling him just for the sake of him needing Ws and respect. And yeah, if we get to have some sort of team up between Luocha and Yanqing that would be neat. I feel like Jing Yuan would prevent that though... but Yanqing will still try to help and be involved regardless
ok i don't normally comment on videos and i almost didn't click this video cuz in my yanqing fan mind i was like "i probably already know everything they're gonna say i've read way too much of the yanqing crumbs to be sane" but then ya pulled out the Sentient swords and Yukong and i went "wait a minute..." because 1 i have never thought deeply about why Yanqing's swords seem to have sentience beyond the one "Yanqing is a Sword" theory pointing at a board with pins and strings like "guys what if Yanqing is a sentient sword that became a person through the power of the Abundance and his power gave sentience to his signature sword too?!" but this really brought to be forefront of how odd it is that we actually see that sentience in the game (altho for the Yanzhuo talking to Yunli part i have seen people interpret it as Yunli mistaking Yanqing's fear for Yanzhuo's) but also the thing is i've read her line about Yanqing before and it never occurred to me how differently she spoke about him compared to everyone else because i always thought it was her caution towards how one's gift for the battlefield could end in living for and dying for war like how Caiyi died but after seeing this O_O and then i read the comment section and was immediately "WAIT HIS HAIR TURNS BLUE?????" and i googled it and my mind was blown because I never noticed that (to be fair i speedran the first luofu story) overall im surprised at how much i learned from this but honestly thank you for feeding into my adoration for this brat/aff because i don't get to talk about any of the Yanqing theories and this is the most likely one i know so far but i do still love the other ones like the "Yanqing is a Sword" theory or the "Vidyadhara Yanqing" theory or the "Remembrance Yanqing" theory and even my favorite altho i dont know if its rlly a theory but the "Yanqing Breaks the 'Student Kills Master' Cycle" theory also hoyo limited 5 star Yanqing pls i beg i will even skip the fate collab for it pls pls pls pls pls added note: i have seen ppl compare Yanqing to protagonists of chinese cultivation sword master stories and that he may be inspired by them, i don't actually know much about the stories or what they're about but im praying it does not imply he is doomed ;w; ADDED ADDED NOTE: JESUS CHRIST I WAS PLAYING HSR WHILE LISTENING TO THE VIDEO SO I ZONED OUT FOR THIS BUT WHEN I LOOKED BACK AFTER POSTING THIS I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE INVERSE COLOR THING OR THE SYMBOLISM BEHIND HIS RATING GUN NUMBER OAIHGAWGLWAOIGN DANGGIT HOYOOOOOOO
Honestly yeah there is a lot of theories that do get repeated over and over again, so I did want to add something new or at least some sort of new perspective/view behind the information gathered The Swords were the main thing that had bugged me ever since the patch the more I looked at them, especially Yanzhuo being able to leave Yanqing by such a long range of distance. We see Dan Heng go to that island by boat, implying it has to be somewhat distant. So it must be a long range from there. This is the first time though that I have heard of him being a Sentient Sword Yukong's line towards Yanqing sounded to me as if he is treating him like a beast or a weapon. Literally saying how if a weapon is unseathe it will go wild in battle or perish instantly. It feels like he treats him as a battle maniac that was not in action, but Yanqing is constantly fighting Denizens of Abundance, so that line always confused me. I am glad I could feed into your adoration for this character. Honestly the more I looked at him back in like 1.4 to 1.5 I think the more I began to like him, and I still consider him to be the best designed character out of all the standard 5 stars, if not most of the HSR cast. I have started to hear more about Rememberance Yanqing that is super intriguing to me now too I am curious to know about this story of a hero/protagonist storuy. It definitely fits his sword collection trait. So I am definitely gonna try to look into it
The theory does have some merits and could be very well be canon if it was handled by any other company/if it was a different game genre. The issue with character development in games like hsr is that its almost solely given to the shiny new "toy" of that respective patch and almost NEVER to older characters. This is probably due to the need to boost character sales...
That is fair, but at the same time, we have been given a shiny new "toy" that is just a new version of the previously existing one, such as Dan Heng, or now even Tingyun with Fugue. So it could be something potentially out there, if the cards (and the sales plans) are played right. But yeah as you said making money is king and the first priotity for a game. They are a company/game devs first, and players second. Which I do appreciate that they have been, in star rail, decently fast to communicate with us
I think the theory is extremely interesting and opens the door to a lot of theories, what if yanqing’s parents become bosses? Or what if they’re playable? What if yanqing actually came from the uhh big abundance tree? Can we draw parallels to hi3 yanqing?
It really does honestly. Having Yanqing's parents being bosses or, being revived by the abundance to become bosses would terrifying. I would have to research into hi3's Yanging who i think was named Ma Feima I know in that universe he betrayed Fu Hua. And Fu Hua's Expy apparently is Marshal Hua in Star Rail So, I can see him betraying the loufu's ideals on some cruel things they do, because he met a kind and pacificst abundance creature. And in turn it would be like him betraying the Marshal again in this universe
I saw a figure from HI3 there is an old blonde man that reassembled Yanqing, maybe that is the dad, its not impossible because welt also came from that HI3 universe lol
Yeah Ma Feima is I think the name of that character, but that is in another universe's storyline. Apparently he betrayed a character Fu Hua, that is meant to be the Marshal of the Xianzhou in this world (Who is just named Hua) I definitely want to see more interdimensional travelers from other universes at some point
After listening all of it the theory has some good points about his possible past, while watching an interesting but most likely impossible theory came to my mind: Yanqing being Jingliu's relative, I'm not saying he is her son but they have some similarities in their abilities and Jingliu in her story quest showed interest in him despite her being ignorant to most others, also it's a great reason for Jing Yuan to take him under him as an adoptive father. He's feeling guilt about killing his master (despite her being alive) and there is nothing better he can do to pay his debt other than raising a relative of her. My theory is probably has some counter points somewhere I don't know but it's interesting to think this way even if the chances are %1.
Honestly from HSR I have learnt to always stay on my toes, because they pop off when it comes to even the smallest details. The idea of Yanqing being related to Jingliu would be neat ngl. Even if there is a counter point to it, it is a nice quick food for thought, and I like those things honestly
Dan Shu’s notes point out that “abomination” isn’t actually a term used to describe the Abundance, but the Xianzhou’s enemies. The foxians are not abominations, despite being blessed by the Abundance. Maybe Jing Yuan also saw this, and part of his reason for taking Yanqing in was to prove that the Xianzhou’s mentality is flawed, by showing that even an “abomination” will fight for what they want to protect.

I definitely wish for Jing Yuan to prove the Xianzhou's mentality to be flawed and too one dimensional. They outright see anything related to the abundance as evil and that must be erradicated. But we do see some beings that don't want war or conflict, and still are hurt by the Xianzhou Also I love the Eunie profile pic!
I wonder if Hoyo will explore more of Yanqing in the future. I think an adult version of Yanqing would be more interesting. Nonetheless I do agree with the theory
Honestly same. Even if they are not playable characters. I do want to see an older version of Xianzhou cast. I want to see Sushang, Huohuo and Qingque once they accomplish their goals
in some strange way he even looks like Yaoshi that Aeon with the six hands. He is the only ''Blonde'' person on the Xianzhou which is not native to those areas
Honestly that is true to an extent. I heard people mention also that Yanqing tends to use 6 swords at a time. Which appears to be the same number of arms Yaoshi has. I do have to admit that their spiderlike design and long nails does creep me out from that Aeon
I am hoping, on my end that he wouldn't be an abundance pathed character in game, but that through the abundance it enhnaced his kit into a stronger hunt, or even something Like Destruction, similarly to how Jingliu does in her empowered state

This is a pretty interesting theory and could explain Yanqing's past. Since we know Yanqing has grown up as a child we know hes gotten his hair from his parents. If they were blessed by Yaoshi then perhaps it fell to JY to slay them. Do any of us think he would kill an infant? No. Do I suspect he would have buried the facts of the killings? Yes. It may have been an unofficial order from HIS general, the one in charge of the Xianshao over all, and so defying the order may have put him in someones crosshairs. But with the disgrace of the high cloud quintet, hes already been dancing on a tightrope as fine as spider silk years before adopting Yanqing. As for his color schemes, i feel like its important to note the abundance does use a lot of blue in their designs but so does most things representing ice and winter. Which is very obvious, element person matches their colors whatever, but specifically that someone who wields ice as a weapon would be the biggest elemental threat to abundance. For example, there are very very few things that can survive the winter and unlike the other physical elements ice is incompatible with growing new life. Its the seasons in motion, spring brings wind and storms to soak the earth and fresh crops, while the flaming heat of summer wilts a few flowers here or there, the sun grows the garden with excitement, and then fall comes around and the plants and animals bow their heads to the earth and prepare for the winter. Winter is brutal, cold like a blade and equally uncaring to the efforts of man, monster, or machine. The ice will accumulate and you will eventually stop. Until spring comes we are just existing, waiting for the sun to blow a warm wet storm our way again. And so I feel like Yanqing is set to exemplify this as he is still young and he longs for the excitement and adventure that comes with spring and summer. Once he resigns himself to the winter of his years though, there may not be a single petal of the caring swordsman he was before...
Yeah, so far Yanqing's past is a blank slate. So I am curious as to what the Hoyo game devs will do in that regard. His and Clara's parents are the backstories I really want to hear about. I can see them going for a tragic as hell story of Jing Yuan having to kill the parents because abundance = bad, despite not wanting to because, like some borisin, they didn't mean any harm and were self conscious See, morals say you shouldn't do certain things, but we have seen how extreme the Xianzhou can be, especially from Jiaoqiu's voiceline about Hanya and Xueyi. And Jing Yuan has been shown to disobey orders for his own morals. I think he would have even disobeyed orders to help Igor in the past (the 2.5 quest) had he been a general during that time. He laments having been powerless and unable to aid Igor when his home planet was being invaded. He says "I was powerless to change anything at the time". You make a great point there as well, Ice to an extent makes it so that life is nearly impossible to grow, in fact cold is associated with the dead too. So having Yanqing be one of the most effective combatants against the Abundance is really neat now that you mention it I like the way you phrased that at the end, with spring and summer because I think he is also meant to signify Swallows, which do represent that time of season in Chinese culture. And it fits the way he is. He is still a child, most children would be playing and doing their own thing. He enjoys sword fighting and training. But he too has been given a heavy burden to protect the Xianzhou as a Liutenant of the cloud kights
Honestly, I can see that. The Xianzhou have been doing awful things for some time now too. Just looking at Hanya and Xueyi for example. Jiaoqiu makes mention that they are becoming monsters. So having Yanqing find a peaceful colony of Abundance Beings that refuse to fight. But being told to kill/imprison them by a higher up would be a nice way to do so I say this given how they imprissoned Arma, Luocha and potentially even more people who didn't put up a fight. There was that Cartwheel Temple monk too that almost got sent to jail just for being a Borisin

I really like that theory honestly. It does seem to parallel what we experienced, where we have no prior memory to our life before the Stellaron got installed in us. So having Yanqing obtain a "gift" like that without his knowledge would be intriguing

I was also very skeptical before this video ngl, but now I think the theory might not be that outlandish.... amazing. I overall agree with the theory even.
It IS very true we don't know anything about yanqing's origins before jing yuan took him in and that means there's lots of possibilities!! Hoyo def has something big in store for him I think, that much is for sure.
Yeah, like, when you hear it alone it really does sound like something that is 100% impossible. But then it starts making a little bit more sense. Nothing completely concrete, but enough to bring a small doubt. Him having an empty backstory means infinite possibilities, so I am super curious for whenever we see that. Hoyo cooks so hard with HSR, I am gonna go manic and insane when Amphoreus releases. They are giving me GREECE HSR and a trailer called the Golden Epic.

This theory is most certainly interesting. I feel like the fact we don’t know Yanqing’s origins before he was taken in by Jing Yuan whatsoever feels like Hoyoverse is setting something up with him for the future. It is definitely interesting how of all the Xianzhou natives in the playable roster and their various hair colors, Yanqing is the only one with blonde hair. I’m also glad you point out the color connection yellow has to Abundance. Small details like this are the lifeblood of theories like this, and the fact they exist and feel intentional are why this game is so captivating to dig our teeth into.
Yeah the fact we don't have a concrete origin story means they can bring out some very obscure hidden facts or just make some extra lore and stories to fill in any gaps they want to their advantage. And yeah, while there has been no confirmation on the yellow hair being a key factor, it does feel at times as if Hoyo was hinting towards that, and they are very good at leaving crumbs for us to look into, whether it be to guide or distract us. It definitely helps keep the game alive, especially during down times/"content droughts"

I also heard a theory that Yangxing will be a leader of a new generation of something close to a high cloud quintet that Yunli will be a part of
I like that concept for it too as well. Especially because we know Jing Yuan has done things to defy the Hunt by aiding his friends from the High Cloud Quintet. In spite of their sins
I have seen that as well. Especially with how we have our own set of mini high cloud quintets with Yanqing, Sushang, Bailu and Huohuo all being apprentices in their field, but seek to grow in their own way. And to a certain extent we also just happen to have a short life species in the Xianzhou mix with Guinaifen + Qingque as the diviner that is most proficient, even if she is lazy

Another cool thing I forgot to tell you about is that the end of his hair turns blue whenever he goes "flying mode"
It's well noticeable during his fight with Dan Heng and Blade (and that's why my fanon Abundance Yanqing design has blue hair at the end)
Yanqing is a character that made me happy countless times, he's one of three things that help me continue living and going forward. I'm very thankful to HoYoverse for creating him.

I do wish that they tell us more about these healing factors, since we know from Yunli's storyline that even if decapitated, a Xianzhou native will be able to heal back, from that one Cloud Knight and Guyun. yanqing has a lot of vine motifs such as on his clothes, phone case and on one of his 4 star light cones and noticed yaoshi has a bunch of vines on them on their splash art!!
Oooooh I'd have to look more into them. Definitely an intriguing concept. I always see Yaoshi as big spider with long nails. So I never looked closely at their design in their art. It makes me uneasy aaa
I think another jokingly reason Yanqing recieved such bad luck was because he is iteration from his HI3 counterpart was a cheater, loved to fight to strong opponents and betrayed his master. Karma from another life lmao.
At some point I suspected Yanqing and March to be from the same planet and capable of using Six-Faced Ice ability, the reason is because I saw the intentional focus on his eye shining the same fuschia/blue shine which remind me of March's color palette.
Oh 100% I feel like that is the case too, I did not play Hi3, but I did hear his counterpart is hated and was a cheater, despite the fact he was a good fighter I think. I was not aware of him betraying his master, which I think was Fu Hua, if I recall correctly, that is wild. Thanks for educating me on that!
If he is actually capable of Six Phased ice and they reveal him to be a foreigner, hence his yellow hair that would also be really sick! I definitely would be down for that. We do get those hints of March's colors during his special big sword attack he developed while fighting Jingliu and Hoolay, so I can see that.

I like this theory. It makes sense too, his kit have always felt clunky so maybe it's because he's never meant to walk the path of The Hunt.
Yeah, but also it did make sense for the type of character he is. His own ego, so to speak, is a bit fragile given how much he admitted his losses to Blade, Dan Heng, Jingliu and Kafka were. So, in this case, any damage he takes makes him lose his cool and his confidence, and as such his damage buff and crit rate which would be like his technique in his sword play I feel
Honestly a very interesting theory
I think it would be so, SO ironic (and so in tune with how hoyo does their stories) if we watch him grow, watch him get stronger and closer and closer to the hunt, training with Feixiao as hinted at in 2.5 and so on, just for him to turn out to be the very thing he's hunting. And i think in that case Feixiao's role of almost a second mentor could be really well explored, as she herself suffers from being her own enemy. And especially if it turns out that, like you said, Jing Yuan is purposefully hiding Yanqing's past, it would create a very interesting and tragic conflict between the two.
Plus, it could tie some things together. We know barely nothing about him, nothing about his backstory, which i don't think hoyo would do unintentionally. For someone as important to the Xianzhou story as Yanqing, knowing this little is very weird and imo definitely setup for something in the future.
But yeah that's abt it from me, great vid and theory 🫡
Honestly with how much main character energy he is being given. Not only do I want him to train with Feixiao, but I also hope he at some point gets a new sword that is specifically crafted by Yunli for him. Because it would such a cool moment of the story that the first time those two met she took his sword, and now she is giving him one that she trusts he'll take good care of. (Also ngl, I lowkey just now imagined like the swordssmith from demonslayer, getting angry and attacking him if he dares to damage the sword she crafted just for him).
I am hyped to see whatever it is that Hoyo has got setup up for Yanqing in the future. He has been thriving and growing, and I wanna see him get a happy and joyful story conclusion. Hope you have a great day!

Honestly the abindance is one of the most interesting paths/aeons/organization, i NEED more characters linked to it and giving my boy Yanqing some more depth is GOATED.
I definitely like how they have advanced forward the Abundance from just mindless zombies at first to a nice variety of characters with the Borisin, Jingliu and even Hanya + Xueyi. On top of us seeing how the abundance affects people in general

If they hurt Yanqing they better give him some top tier character growth and the greatest come back and an ending that makes him happy. Truly his struggle against himself and his doubts were some of the best narratives in HSR. And I loved those stories
I find this theory to be intriguing because we Hoyo hasn’t given us a lot of info on Yanqing’s backstory. This theory kind of reminds me of Feixiao because she was with the borisin but later went with the Xianzhou and became the general of the Yaoquing. If Yanqing was somehow connected to the abundance, it gives an explanation to why Jing Yuan took him in (to oversee him and to be able to use him to defeat the Abundance). This is a great theory!
Yeah we do not know about his past, so that being an empty canvas for them to fill will be neat. I loved Feixiao's story conflicts and how well they used the fact she is part Borisin to move forward the narrative

Honestly same, like I mentioned in the video, though on first glance it seemed odd, the more I looked into it, the more invested I got, and I loved it. The idea of a mara stricken Yanqing, similar to Jingliu, having outbursts of rage and recklessness would be neat to see. We know he tends to hold back for our sake, so seeing him go rampant would be awesome. I feel like them making an aggro Abundance character like they did with Gallagher and Luocha would be neat. Though I too am of the idea of him having empowered rage fueled abilities like Jingliu has
Same, I really like the theory and I'd enjoy more expansion on it but I do feel like there's a lot of room for holes in the theory. But I definitely enjoy the prospect.

This theory is certainly an interesting one. I really liked Yanqing ever since the beginning, and the recent developments in his character have been so great to see. So if this theory turns out to be true, then character will certainly stick out a lot more than some of the other Xianzhou characters. Anyway, best of luck to everyone for the giveaway!

I can't say anything for certain yet, there is so little actual evidence. But at the same time, the writers ARE cooking something up with Yanqing. He might just be the Luofu chrachter with the most screentime/continued plot relevance outside of the general himself.
Yeah, the amount of evidence for it is still too inconclusive/defining for now. But I do hope to see whatever route the devs are cooking in the hoyo kitchen. They legit go in and bring out some top tier content and lore for us to feed upon. Rappa and Boothill's lore still have me in a Chokehold. And yeah I do believe he is one of the characters with the most screen time in the Xianzhou yes
This theory is actually very interesting, although it does seem like a stretch. Yanqing is a character full of potential, w/ all his similarities w/ Jingliu and his relationship w/ Jing Yuan, while also being mysterious regarding his backstory and past before meeting Jing Yuan. Knowing JY’s character, he definitely had a good reason for picking him up, so him being some sort of creation of the Abundance could somehow make sense, though he hasn’t shown any power that’s exclusive to the Abundance. His character will definitely continue to be developed in the future. Also I’ve never noticed the lack of blond characters in the Luofo, it’s a small but intriguing detail. I’m very excited to see how hoyo handles his character in future continuances of the story!
Yeah, there are a few parts with holes that can lead to it being debunked or strengthed. We saw how much growth and potential he got back in 2.4 and 2.5 (as well as 1.5). Him acknowledging his failures and learning from them is one of the best things honestly. Like, that one speech he said to Yunli was so perfect for his character growth. Also Yanqing not being able to remember anything before he started training with JY is suspicious, so his backstory is something I 100% want
Technically speaking every Xianzhou native is a little bit abundance. Since they originally weren't long life species. In Yunli's quest we learnt that a cloud knight can be decapitated and "die" but if you reattach their head back to their body they'll come back to life (Foxians and Vidhyadara are not so lucky). And I think most Xianzhou natives only really "die" because they become mara struck
And yeah, as patches have gone on. They've added more blonde NPCs. But also they keep hinting at the Denizens of Abundance infiltrating areas over and over again. So I am just there with my tin foil hat overthinking

I felt actually pretty impressed by this theory but it makes a lot of sense once you put it in perspective, tbh I thought it was my just imagination when I suddenly notice the lack of blondes on the Loufu, I always had a voice at the back of my mind telling me that could be important for something that I got a bit excited when that got mentioned in the video
Yeah, it really only hit me when Skott became a character that I felt was more than just an average NPC. I was told about the Blond hair potentially being something to look out, so in trying to disprove it I realized there actually were no Blond NPCs as far as I could tell

They have super healing powers with the one Cloud Knight in Yunli's quest saying he got decapitated, but survived because someone reattached his head to his body quickly enough. But in that brief moment he died

He was the first character I chose while thinking he was the most potential one
And he indeed had the most potential. My boi has been thriving in lore every patch and I live for it honestly. The conversation he had with Yunli at Stargazer Navia made me adore him. Him acknowledging his fears of losing and learning to move on was just peak content
Honestly, I'd prefer it if he was connected with Abundance for the sheer ANGST potential this would give the story. Until Aventurine and Sunday showed up, Jing Yuan and Yanqing were my favourite HSR characters and I've been deeply invested in their relationship since the beginning.
The Remembrance is also a cool idea, and it has some massive plot potential, but it's not as dramatic as Abundance when he's so invested in the Hunt.
And also, thank you for defending Yanqing. People have been so unbearably annoying about his losses on the main story quest, as if he's not a teenager keeping his own about the local legends of the Xianzhou!!!

I live and breathe for the angst honestly, I am always a huge fan of these types of writting that make me feel rough and emotional for a character. Aventurine has been a great addition, and honestly narratively speaking Boothill and Rappa stole heart over and over again.

I am honestly glad I can speak positively about Yanqing as a character. I know because of the meta people tend to talk bad of him. Though after the mision and his scene with hoolay he gained my respect, and Thinking about it more and after seeing the video, it just makes more sense to me, all the parts are quite understandable and make some sense, that Could be a future buff for him too

Honestly, until 2.4 and 2.5 came out, the reason I thought Yanqing would get Mara struck was his constant defeats eating up at him, especially with how affected he seemed by the words Apyra was telling him. I was so happy that by 2.4, when he speaks with Yunli, he admits his shortcomings and mentions what he is doing to improve, both physically and mentally. Regardless I want him to get another form to showcase his character development
Yeah blonde hair part is one that I feel at times it may be a bit farfetched, and again we do see blonde characters in the loufu, though they are meant really rare. And I even debunked some of my own thoughts on the matter when I went to do my own digging and search for NPCs

Ever since i started the game yanqing has always had a special place in my heart and to see how much he has grown despite all the struggle and insecurities really resonates with me and gives me courage to do better myself.
Having watched this video the only thing i can nitpick is that jingliu didnt activity teach yanqing, she kinda just jumped him and ran😅 Yanqing mostly learned her move through observating her moves when they were fighting. Other than that everything abt this theory is on point with what i thought for a while
He is honestly great. I like how his own insecurities and struggles were somewhat reflected unto his kit. With him losing his buff (confidence) the moment he gets in combat. In all honesty a lot of the stories from HSR have been very encouraging and empowering to me. Especially Luka's in the Wardance patch ngl.
And yeah that is true. It was more so a put Yanqing under a lot of pressure to force him to develop lol
This is so interesting, a theory crafter in Bilibili did a video a while back about Yanqing’s connection to the abundance. It’s so cool that more people are starting to see this connection. I’m hoping Hoyo will go into depth about this if it turns out to be true once we get to a planet that follows the abundance.

@ I can’t find their username, it’s not a whole video dedicated to Yanqing, I was looking through Bilibili hoping to find it. If I do I’ll let you know. I do remember some of what’s mention, the longevity amulet/symbol on Yanqing (it could be just a good luck charm from elder or something more), him being adopted by Jing Yuan (no one knows where he came from), hair that’s different from other Luofu character, we still aren’t 100% sure if he is a long life species. It’s strange that Yanqing have so many symbols on him wishing for long life and longevity (traditional Chinese Symbols that we give to the elderly) even though Xianzhou is against the denizen of abundance.
I have a feeling that shuhu isn’t dead or part of shuhu isn’t dead, also the wingweaver are really interesting so it could be about them as well. I’m also interested in seeing abundance fraction that are not denizen of abundance.

this theory is so so cool unironically. i love yanqing's lore and am so emotionally ready to see the path he goes down with his ties to jingliu and jing yuan (who have tragic stories) if this theory is canon in any way, I think it just makes his story os much more interesting. he really feels like the protagonist of the luofu (and I am here for it, I want more content of him)

Honestly, this theory makes me want a limited 5 star Yanqing. Like, what if the eminator of Abundance is will be him? It kinda fits with all the themes of continuing this path leading to ruin.
I will say though, I definitely feel the devs want us to pay attention to him, as he's been in a lot of stories in a prominent role. Which feels unusual unless they have something planned for him?
A limited version of more HSR characters would honestly be sick. Ever since we fought Kafka in Apocalyptic Shadow it has made me wish we got a Harmony Version of her. I feel like also it is quite simple to become affected by the abundance or become mara struck, because they got parasites and even being like Shuhu which literally can revive the dead, like a whole planet (Rahu). And given how Blade's talent is called Shuhu's gift I reckon something relating to it must be the reason Blade is now Mara Struck too
I do feel the same, the devs like to drop hints for us, and he is constantly growing as a character, so I geniunely do like that about them. Even in this wardance patches, we got to see more of him so I hope we get to learn about his past. Or have him travel to another planet with influence from the Abundance, since he did show interest in traveling with the express at the end of the 2.5 quest. Mainly the whole part of him wanting to grow by encountering new places

I have only recently heard of Yanqing being linked to the rememberance, and I have been enjoying reading about it in the comments and any discussion forums I could find. It has definitely been an interesting and enjoyable read! I am eager to see what Hoyo will cook up for Yanqing when it's his time to return to the spotlight

The reason why I think blond hair is associated with the abundance because it represents what the abundance signifies; uncontrollable mutations. Blond hair color is a mutant phenotype occurring from a genetic mutation; something that the path of abundance instills within the Mara struck causing their bodies to mutate; some of these mutations may be only aesthetic related such as blond hair and blue eyes.
Seeing it as an uncontrollable mutation is quite interesting. I like that a lot as a concept
If this will cause Yanqing to get a "refresh" like March 7th, I'm all in for it.
Honestly I want more characters to get that treatment. I hope they do that for Sampo when they showcase him with his mask and potential powers

Honestly, I can't blame you, because I too thought I was becoming crazy the more I looked into it. It was a lot of fun though. There are parts I cannot justify entirely, such as the whole Blonde hair concept, but the fact Jingliu is used as a parallel to him does keep that red flag raised and keeps me alert

That Yanqing knows Luocha but Luocha says he doesn't know Yanqing, which is suspicious.
Yanqing's connection to the Rememberance, he has great memory, sixth phase ice, ability to copy things he has only seen once (Jingliu's technique) and Ice pathstrider.
I think we are gonna get more lore in 3.X when Fu Hua releases, She was Yanqing's master in HI3 and 3.X is the Rememberance patch.
I think Yanqing probably knows about Luocha because of criminal records after he got imprissoned, but that is the only thing that really comes to mind. Since Yanqing is always nearby Jing Yuan, and I assume information he has available too
The Yanqing and Rememberance connections keep getting stronger the more comments I read and I love it so much honestly, I hadn't really thought of him having the ability to copy things as a Rememberance trait, that is sick. And, from the Trailblazer Drip Marketing, if the path's main gimmick is having a pet/summon, then it would fit him having swords he would be capable of summoning like in his own boss fight
I am really looking forward to whatever lore we get from the Marshall and potentially any of the other generals! So I do want to see what interactions Yanqing and Marshal Hua will have!

Well, I think this theory is very uhh INTERESTING, Abundance and Yanqing don't seem connected, as yanqing seems VERY VERY hunt oriented. So, this must be maybe BEFORE he started trainng with jing yuan as otherwise that might've not maken sense.
In the wardance arc they did give yanqing more lore, but not much about his path. So, maybe we will find out soon!
Interesting is a perfectly good way to put it. Yanqing has always been connected primarily to the hunt, the one thing that gave me the suspicions was how effectively he commanded the storm of swords while being under a Heliobi's influence. They are "Living" swords. So it just makes me feel like how Yaoshi supposedly controls the Mara Struck's minds.
As far as we know Yanqing has no memories from before he met Jing Yuan. His earliest is of him training with the general. So having an exploration of his self and lore reveal would be awesome
Also, I need more Mr. Tail deep dives into a person's psychology. Skott's was... intriguing, but makes sense. But Luka's backstory. That one hurt, a lot more. And we knew it from context and it still hurt

I could see that honestly. Something like Jingliu became a sort of medium in between the abundance and hunt. I am intrigued to see what they'll do
I think we'll see more character development in this direction. I think this guy will play an important role in the Aeon war, or even a key one. We may see confirmation of his connection to Abundance, but I think he'll remain a good guy.
I want for us to get an Abundance Follower or even a Faction that geniunely is a good person. Not just morally gray. It would be neat to see how they see the Xianzhou hunting them down. Despite them not wishing to pose a threat to them
We have seen Borisin trying to make peace with them before. But they just imprissoned them regardless for being tied to the abundance
This theory is interesting, i kinda see how his parents may be linked to the abundance if true, it could completely change how we see his role in the story and it also might explain why Jing Yuan adopted him
Yeah there has got to be something there with parents that has yet to be revealed, and I find that to be most interesting. We know Jing Yuan has bent the rules before for people dear to him, so having Yanqing be linked to something like that as the reason for him being now under Jing Yuan's care would be both emotional and great
Also it would be a nice way for Hoyoverse to give us a a more positive, main story, narrative about the Abundance, we tend to see them and the denizens of abundance as evil, but if they show us some more of the beings that defy Yaoshi, despite existing because of them, it would help us see the Abundance and more morally grey. And, as always, Xianzhou is always shown as the "good guys" with their own bad things going on, so seeing a switch in that perspective and hearing good people being slaughtered/imprissoned solely for being related to the abundance would be cool to mess with our perception

I think the sword being tied to abundance is pretty out there, but yanqing is one of my favorite characters outside of gameplay, so anything giving him more story significance is a win for me. I really hope he gets a second form like DHIL or M7H. I have him e3 despite knowing I will never use him, and I wish he was better considering he is a 5 star and somehow kinda feels like the main character of the luofu lore. he has a compelling tie to both past and future events, and seems to have the most actual interaction with the characters. (DHIL has ties to blade, but yanqing has chemistry with more relevant characters, especially jingliu). really crossing my fingers on a new yanqing form so one of my favorite characters can be more than tails for my coin flip.

Yeah, I feel the same way on that. Something is different being hidden to us from his lore/backstory, so it will be something that I'll be eager to see when the time is right. The rememberance connections have honestly been fascinating and I have been liking them a lot
I think that there are some interesting points you and others have made. Yanqing is a good character and it is a shame that some people have reduced him to simply being the "punching bag". He is quite a capable fighter, directly from his character story is this section: "When hunting near a distant star, the monstrously huge mechabeast Windguard created by the Denizens of Abundance was pulverizing defense forces as though they were ants. But this young boy met against it face-to-face, claiming its head and routing the enemy to the point of collapse". It very much sounds like he did that solo and it being something that few people would be capable of. While he did lose battles, such as the one against Blade and Dan Heng, it doesn't seem like those losses are landslide defeats and that is against people who were legends & some considered the most dangerous in the cosmos. He's not quite at their level yet but he's close/got the potential to be and this is while still being a young teenager.
While I find the implication about blond = abundance intriguing, I don't feel there is enough to back it up even with how sparse the amount of blond haired characters on the Luofu. Though Luocha is directly connected to the abundance, he is still an outsider. The Luofu is only a part of Xianzhou, we haven't seen the other Xianzhou ships so don't know if this also extends to the entire population across the alliance. Also technically all Xianzhou people have been affected by the abundance (I'm not 100% sure about the Vidyadhara and Foxians but definitely the Humans).
My thoughts about his sword that broke away from the formation to seek help is that it was the influence of a part of Yanqing fighting against the possession. Like a part of his mind that could see that what was happening was wrong and needed to stop, like a sense of duty and such rather than like a created sentience.
The biggest thing is definitely Yanqing's unknown background, where did he come from, parents etc. It's very clear that he is far from ordinary and a thought I have is that he could be a direct creation of the abundance which could explain his power, strength and such like someone said about him healing quicker. It could also give an explanation to why Jing Yuan took him in which is in order to keep a close eye on him, utilize Yanqing's capabilities and prevent him from being used against the Xianzhou. While I absolutely believe that Jing Yuan genuinely cares about Yanqing, it is also in character for him. It does mention in his character story that how Jing Yuan found him is known but it actually doesn't say how.
It could connect to Jingliu's interest in Yanqing. Luocha is her ally in her mission, if Yanqing is like Luocha, in the connection to the abundance, then he could be useful in their mission even without joining them. Or simply she could just see Yanqing as a reflection of herself. I did have a passing thought of what if Yanqing was her child or a relative but this is a stretch as something like that would have to be mentioned by this point. Regardless his unknown history must be a sensitive or forbidden topic if it isn't talked about.
I'll stop here but it is quite interesting to look deep into characters, the lore and make connections. Hopefully what I've said makes sense.
Yeah not enough people give him enough credit for all the things he has accomplished during his time in the Xianzhou. Especially the fight versus both Lunae and Blade, with him going pretty well against the stellaron hunter on his own. The moment he lost is when Blade became truly angry seeing Jingliu's technique. So naturally became more aggresive which is also an issue for him at close quarters combat. And as you said it isn't like he got knocked out of sent flying he lost but stood his ground even against the overpowering strength of 2 xianzhou titans
It isn't enough to make an assessment and that is why I did want to add that blond NPCs do exist in the Xianzhou even if they are decently rare. I definitely want to see the other Xianzhou so badly. I know Xianzhou natives and Foxians have been. Vidhyadara were helped but I don't think they qualify since they do grow old at a decent rate I think, but they have become eggs every like 200 ish years I think it was?
The unknown background is the thing that I am definitely looking forward to the most for when it hopefully gets revealed. I do believe as well that Jing Yuan cares for Yanqing, he is the most kind hearted and caring character in my opinion. All his dislogues about people from his past, including Igor from the War Dance event, always showcase how much he cares and wishes for the best to those around him
And yeah, them being relatives sounds like a stretch, since we have no evidence but it is a neat thing to keep in the very back of the mind I feel

Really fascinating theoryy. I saw someone else here talk about his version in Hi3 and I must say.... his character in that story was definitely surrounded by betrayal (of his own doing, though from what I've heard, he betrayed Fu Hua because she kinda deserved it? Take that with a grain of salt), so it's ironic that he has connections to the abundance here. That being saiiddd, I don't think he's gonna do anything like betrayal here, mostly because he's been set up to be the "protagonist" to the typical hero story (at least, in the trailblaze mission that centers around Feixiao)
Yeah, I am recently learning about Hi3 lore, which I do very slowly, but I do find it fascinating. I would like to see a parallel here, where Yanqing would be one of the people to betray the Xianzhou Ideals, which we have seen can be morally gray to brutally awful at times (Like Hanya and Xueyi's punishments, especially in the way Jiaoqiu's voiceline describes them)
So now I am imagining Yanqing being one of the people to go against the marshal (Hua), but this time he would be seen in a more positive light. I will have to learn what Fu Hua did in Hi3, since now I am curious. I do like the idea of him being the typical hero, which would still set him up to betray wrong ideals that the Xianzhou has had for many years now. And I say this also because of Feixiao's story, since she as a Borisin had fears of what the Xianzhou would say about her at times, even Hoolay tries to mess with her by mentioning that

I believe yangqin has the most potential in the future and the fact he’s a foreigner and he has blonde hair a color that’s not associated whit the hunt but rather whit abundance thru the fact locuha is an abomination of abundance also yangqin is a long life being even do he is not a xianzhou native that just mean he has had or his ancestors have had a convection to the abundance and this isn’t stated by anyone else usually people forget he’s a long life species even do he’s not a local of the alliance
Having him be revealed to be a foreigner would also be neat and it would explain why there is no actual record of him and his parents within the Loufu, I do quite like that. Honestly having him be from another planet where they have being that would be considered denizens of abundance, but that actually are docile and pacifists would be nice. Abundance, giving life always felt like it should have been "a good guy" path, given all the healing powers and such. So actually seeing a positive faction, and having them be a point of tension for the Xianzhou would be interesting. Because similarly with the Cartwheel Temple, they offer peace, but they want to take every opportunity to refuse it.
Also the only reason Xianzhou natives became Long Life species is because of Yaoshi, so any and other worlds influenced by the Abundance would be long life species. I forgot to add this on the video. But in the Yunli quest, we see a Cloud Knight that mentions they cut off his head, but because someone reattached it, he came back to life. So they have some supreme healing factors too!
I still can't connect Yanqing to the Abundance with what we currently have but, one thing i got hyped and i really hope would happen after 3.x is how Yanqing mentioned he wants to join the Astral Express and travel the cosmos. Maybe when he starts his journey through the cosmos, he might also learn more about himself, especially his origin.
So, something I should have added. Technically speaking all Xianzhou natives are linked to the Abundance. They became Long Life species because of Yaoshi sprouting an Ambrosial Arbor in their original planet
In Yunli's quest we see a Xianzhou Cloud Knight mention he got beheaded by Borisins. But a boy was able to reattach his head in time for him to not die
And that was just a one off soldier who refused any and all help from the heliobi in sword. Meaning that is just raw regeneration power Xianzhou natives have. If I am to interpret that correctly

An interesting theory, I however feel like this will culminate to a moment where he could choose between "More Power" or defeating/saving people he cares about and he has to make a final choice. Maybe he could become an emanator of the Hunt to possibly be the thing that destroys Yaoshi years down the road? Not sure but that would explain why Jingliu saw promise in him and opted to teach him her technique.
Also Idk how to explain it but I always had a creeping suspicion that Ruan Mei may someday fall into Nihility if some things go awry.
I definitely like that idea honestly. I like when there's moments in the plot where they appeal to a character's humanity/empathy by tempting them with unimaginable power or some sort of benefit they yearn for most. I definitely want to see him become an Emanator of the Hunt. And in all honesty I can see him being the one to erradicate Yaoshi, mainly because his element is Ice, which usually is something that makes living conditions impossible for plants and such. To a certain extent ice and cold is the absence of life
Ruan Mei honestly terrifies me. When she gets mentioned in the lore I am expecting things to take a dark turn

This is a really interesting and cool theory, and it would be nice to see this in the story. Just a tiny thing I want to point out though; technically both the Xianzhou natives and the foxians are Abominations of Abundance, as they are species that have been granted long lives by Yaoshi. If Denizens of the Abundance had blond hair, there would be a lot more blond haired people on the Luofu.
Personally, I don’t believe that Luocha is an Abundance Abomination, more that he is closely linked to the Propagation (Propagation and Abundance are pretty similar paths, I believe someone, possibly Herta, once mentions that they wonder why the two Paths haven’t assimilated each other)

I can see him getting mistaken for Abundance as Propagation. We did have as well with Acheron as an Emanator. Where Aventurine suspected for a moment she was a Finality Emanator. I will be looking for that voice/dialogue about the paths not assimilating each other!

Honestly, the theory that Yanqing might have ties to the Abundance is pretty interesting. Like, his almost ageless appearance and crazy skill could hint at something more, especially since the Abundance is all about life and immortality. Plus, HoYoverse loves their plot twists, so maybe there’s some hidden connection to Yaoshi in his backstory. That said, he’s clearly tied to the Hunt right now, so it’s hard to say. Could just be overthinking, but it’s fun to speculate!
Yeah, all Xianzhou Natives are effectively Immortal because their ancestors came into contact with Yaoshi. They got an Amborisial back in their actual home planet. So in a way all the Xianzhou Natives are linked to abundance even if a little. That one soldier in Yunli's quest mentions they cut off his head, but because a kid reattached it quickly enough he came to life. And that was just like a one off random soldier, not even a liutenant or general
I definitely wish that something related to Yaoshi is in his backstory. It would give Jing Yuan a conflict of interest. Like if Jingliu and Luocha want to use him as part of their godslayer scheme, but he doesn't want to endanger him

I do wish to see Yanqing get a 2nd 5 star version of himself. Especially with how much he has grown as a character throughout all these patches

Yeah, it is quite interesting and I definitely have been enjoying it, so I do hope we get to hear more about Yanqing eventually. Jing Yuan seems to actively discourage Yanqing from looking into it by saying it would cause stress and such, from what I recall, so that feels like it will be something he'll have to face in the future and struggle to combat those realizations. And yeah him and Luocha being the only blondes at the Xianzhou Loufu is intriguing
There is also the theory of him using also using Six Phased like March does, which I find to be super interesting, and would make him a foreigner too, which would explain the blonde hair as well as just a foreigner detail

It geniunely would be cool to have new 5 star versions of characters we see grow and evolve during the story. We also technically have that for Fugue and March. So seeing it for him or a more healthy/deranged Blade are the ones on my list
Also, the line back in 2.5 that he wanted to travel with the express to grow further also made me wish for him to become and see how new areas would make him develop

Yeah, we keep on learning of him growing and developing as a person. So having his past possibly affect his point of view or the way he feels about his identity would be neat
Overall this theory is really lacking some proper evidence so I don’t really know what to make of it right now. But my favourite part was the discussion surrounding yanqings parents. It would be very interesting if it turned out his parents were somehow related to abundance, maybe followers of sanctus medicus who were either arrested or killed and that's why jing yuan is raising him.
There are a few things to iron out. And that Hoyoverse would have to either confirm or deny. So for the most part it out in the open. Then other alternative I like is him potentially being a foreigner from a place that also has long life species as their residents. Or as you said his parents being related to the abundance, and that actively reject Yaoshi and the negative things they do. Similarly to the Cartwheel temple or Arma for Borisins. Or Tail for the Heliobi too now that I look at it
What you didn't mention is his thematic ties to swallows/sparrows. During Mao's reign, one of the 4 animals he encouraged the farmers of China to 'wage war against' were eurasian tree sparrow. The once plentiful species in China, that had helped pollinate their crops (though also accidentally destroyed them looking for bugs to eat) was nearly wiped out into extinction, which caused the famine under Mao's rule. While yanqing is more obviously swallow coded in design, most of the areas hes in are not the open spaces he would find comfort in as a 'swallow', but moreso like a 'sparrow', e g. layout of the ship is crowded, not telling luka who he is (sparrows like to blend in and hide)
I think the true swallow is the sword, and yanqing is the sparrow.
I honestly had no idea about the meaning of sparrows and swallows. So after failing to get any relevant information, I gave up on it sadly ;-;

Though not literal, him becoming a liutenant could add onto it. He had to give up his freedom and fun, in exchange for duties and things that will have to keep him busy from most things he naturally would enjoy as the kid he is
I did get to learn that ironically, Yanqing's sword is called Yanzhuo which uses the character for Swallow and Pecking if I recall correctly. I know for s fact the Yan (Yàn / 燕) chinese character they use is for swarrow, so it does fit with what you say. So that is a really neat detail to add and connect now knowing this
WHAT IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO YANQING IF THE PLAN TO KILL THE ABUNDANCE SUCCEEDS?! I fear there’s foreshadowing that has some deeper meaning I remember reading about but don’t know where, but it could be something like how Sunday follows (or followed) order even thought that Aeon was absorbed, Aeons being messed with tends to have all kinds of consequences, like tingyun getting attacked… something something… by destruction something something and now she’s nihililty. Perhaps something bad will happen to yanquing and he almost recovers but there’s this cutscene where he breaks through with his sheer or willpower or something like the protagonist troupe and if this is weird blame me for staying away too long. Then hsr uses this possibly Mara-stricken but newly empowered 5 star yanquing. It would definitely make money. they gave him character dept with the 2nd main quest about the loufu and would make bank with all the people that like him already and already dedicated yanquing mains. Especially if they cook with his kit, mb it could have hp manipulation. Idk, would be cool🙏

Honestly that would be so horrifying. Just a whole if they succeed in slaying Yaoshi I am terrified. One of the things with Immortality that has forevered scarred me was DC's Black Adam portrayals in some Comics. The moment he would transform back into his mortal self, he would begin to rapidly age for all the years he had been immortal in his magic form. He had become immortal, but if he ever lost the power, he'd age until his body became bone and soon after dust in a matter of seconds/minutes. So that is a fear I have if the Xianzhou wins
I do like the idea of Yanqing being faced with a sort of trial of his will because of some event or harsh battle he has to endure while in the hunt for the Abundance. I do want for him to grow and develop further as a character and he has been the most interesting character in the Xianzhou alongside Jing Yuan. And I adore the 2 of them for it. They would make so much money with people that like him, people that enjoy new playstyles too. And also... for as messed up as it sounds, new forms of characters that exist already, I find them to be lowkey just super buffed skins. You get a skin for your character for when you walk around the world, with a new kit in gameplay and hoyo made you spend more than the 30 dollars I think the diluc skin cost in Genshin. It's a win for hoyo. I definitely want HP manipulation as a mechanic, but for me, I'd love that if it was implemented in Voracity (if we ever got that path empower by self damage/damage allies and heal from certain passives)

ok i don't normally comment on videos and i almost didn't click this video cuz in my yanqing fan mind i was like "i probably already know everything they're gonna say i've read way too much of the yanqing crumbs to be sane" but then ya pulled out the Sentient swords and Yukong and i went "wait a minute..."
because 1 i have never thought deeply about why Yanqing's swords seem to have sentience beyond the one "Yanqing is a Sword" theory pointing at a board with pins and strings like "guys what if Yanqing is a sentient sword that became a person through the power of the Abundance and his power gave sentience to his signature sword too?!" but this really brought to be forefront of how odd it is that we actually see that sentience in the game (altho for the Yanzhuo talking to Yunli part i have seen people interpret it as Yunli mistaking Yanqing's fear for Yanzhuo's)
but also the thing is i've read her line about Yanqing before and it never occurred to me how differently she spoke about him compared to everyone else because i always thought it was her caution towards how one's gift for the battlefield could end in living for and dying for war like how Caiyi died but after seeing this O_O
and then i read the comment section and was immediately "WAIT HIS HAIR TURNS BLUE?????" and i googled it and my mind was blown because I never noticed that (to be fair i speedran the first luofu story)

Honestly yeah there is a lot of theories that do get repeated over and over again, so I did want to add something new or at least some sort of new perspective/view behind the information gathered
The Swords were the main thing that had bugged me ever since the patch the more I looked at them, especially Yanzhuo being able to leave Yanqing by such a long range of distance. We see Dan Heng go to that island by boat, implying it has to be somewhat distant. So it must be a long range from there. This is the first time though that I have heard of him being a Sentient Sword
Yukong's line towards Yanqing sounded to me as if he is treating him like a beast or a weapon. Literally saying how if a weapon is unseathe it will go wild in battle or perish instantly. It feels like he treats him as a battle maniac that was not in action, but Yanqing is constantly fighting Denizens of Abundance, so that line always confused me.
I am glad I could feed into your adoration for this character. Honestly the more I looked at him back in like 1.4 to 1.5 I think the more I began to like him, and I still consider him to be the best designed character out of all the standard 5 stars, if not most of the HSR cast. I have started to hear more about Rememberance Yanqing that is super intriguing to me now too
I am curious to know about this story of a hero/protagonist storuy. It definitely fits his sword collection trait. So I am definitely gonna try to look into it
The theory does have some merits and could be very well be canon if it was handled by any other company/if it was a different game genre.
The issue with character development in games like hsr is that its almost solely given to the shiny new "toy" of that respective patch and almost NEVER to older characters. This is probably due to the need to boost character sales...
That is fair, but at the same time, we have been given a shiny new "toy" that is just a new version of the previously existing one, such as Dan Heng, or now even Tingyun with Fugue. So it could be something potentially out there, if the cards (and the sales plans) are played right. But yeah as you said making money is king and the first priotity for a game. They are a company/game devs first, and players second. Which I do appreciate that they have been, in star rail, decently fast to communicate with us
I think the theory is extremely interesting and opens the door to a lot of theories, what if yanqing’s parents become bosses? Or what if they’re playable? What if yanqing actually came from the uhh big abundance tree? Can we draw parallels to hi3 yanqing?

So, I can see him betraying the loufu's ideals on some cruel things they do, because he met a kind and pacificst abundance creature. And in turn it would be like him betraying the Marshal again in this universe

Yeah Ma Feima is I think the name of that character, but that is in another universe's storyline. Apparently he betrayed a character Fu Hua, that is meant to be the Marshal of the Xianzhou in this world (Who is just named Hua)
I definitely want to see more interdimensional travelers from other universes at some point

After listening all of it the theory has some good points about his possible past, while watching an interesting but most likely impossible theory came to my mind:
Yanqing being Jingliu's relative, I'm not saying he is her son but they have some similarities in their abilities and Jingliu in her story quest showed interest in him despite her being ignorant to most others, also it's a great reason for Jing Yuan to take him under him as an adoptive father. He's feeling guilt about killing his master (despite her being alive) and there is nothing better he can do to pay his debt other than raising a relative of her. My theory is probably has some counter points somewhere I don't know but it's interesting to think this way even if the chances are %1.
Honestly from HSR I have learnt to always stay on my toes, because they pop off when it comes to even the smallest details. The idea of Yanqing being related to Jingliu would be neat ngl. Even if there is a counter point to it, it is a nice quick food for thought, and I like those things honestly
Dan Shu’s notes point out that “abomination” isn’t actually a term used to describe the Abundance, but the Xianzhou’s enemies. The foxians are not abominations, despite being blessed by the Abundance. Maybe Jing Yuan also saw this, and part of his reason for taking Yanqing in was to prove that the Xianzhou’s mentality is flawed, by showing that even an “abomination” will fight for what they want to protect.

I definitely wish for Jing Yuan to prove the Xianzhou's mentality to be flawed and too one dimensional. They outright see anything related to the abundance as evil and that must be erradicated. But we do see some beings that don't want war or conflict, and still are hurt by the Xianzhou

This is a pretty interesting theory and could explain Yanqing's past. Since we know Yanqing has grown up as a child we know hes gotten his hair from his parents. If they were blessed by Yaoshi then perhaps it fell to JY to slay them.
Do any of us think he would kill an infant? No. Do I suspect he would have buried the facts of the killings? Yes. It may have been an unofficial order from HIS general, the one in charge of the Xianshao over all, and so defying the order may have put him in someones crosshairs. But with the disgrace of the high cloud quintet, hes already been dancing on a tightrope as fine as spider silk years before adopting Yanqing.
As for his color schemes, i feel like its important to note the abundance does use a lot of blue in their designs but so does most things representing ice and winter. Which is very obvious, element person matches their colors whatever, but specifically that someone who wields ice as a weapon would be the biggest elemental threat to abundance.
For example, there are very very few things that can survive the winter and unlike the other physical elements ice is incompatible with growing new life. Winter is brutal, cold like a blade and equally uncaring to the efforts of man, monster, or machine. The ice will accumulate and you will eventually stop. Until spring comes we are just existing, waiting for the sun to blow a warm wet storm our way again. And so I feel like Yanqing is set to exemplify this as he is still young and he longs for the excitement and adventure that comes with spring and summer.

Yeah, so far Yanqing's past is a blank slate. So I am curious as to what the Hoyo game devs will do in that regard. His and Clara's parents are the backstories I really want to hear about. I can see them going for a tragic as hell story of Jing Yuan having to kill the parents because abundance = bad, despite not wanting to because, like some borisin, they didn't mean any harm and were self conscious
See, morals say you shouldn't do certain things, but we have seen how extreme the Xianzhou can be, especially from Jiaoqiu's voiceline about Hanya and Xueyi. And Jing Yuan has been shown to disobey orders for his own morals. I think he would have even disobeyed orders to help Igor in the past (the 2.5 quest) had he been a general during that time. He laments having been powerless and unable to aid Igor when his home planet was being invaded. He says "I was powerless to change anything at the time".
You make a great point there as well, Ice to an extent makes it so that life is nearly impossible to grow, in fact cold is associated with the dead too. So having Yanqing be one of the most effective combatants against the Abundance is really neat now that you mention it
I like the way you phrased that at the end, with spring and summer because I think he is also meant to signify Swallows, which do represent that time of season in Chinese culture. And it fits the way he is. He is still a child, most children would be playing and doing their own thing. He enjoys sword fighting and training. But he too has been given a heavy burden to protect the Xianzhou as a Liutenant of the cloud kights

Honestly, I can see that. The Xianzhou have been doing awful things for some time now too. Just looking at Hanya and Xueyi for example. Jiaoqiu makes mention that they are becoming monsters. So having Yanqing find a peaceful colony of Abundance Beings that refuse to fight. But being told to kill/imprison them by a higher up would be a nice way to do so
I say this given how they imprissoned Arma, Luocha and potentially even more people who didn't put up a fight. There was that Cartwheel Temple monk too that almost got sent to jail just for being a Borisin

Yanqing is a child who got blessed like the mc and dawn shu but unlike dawn shu for our genarel found out a way to suppresses kid yanqing's power, why he did that? and way was yanqing blessed? Dont know need to think about it
I really like that theory honestly. It does seem to parallel what we experienced, where we have no prior memory to our life before the Stellaron got installed in us. So having Yanqing obtain a "gift" like that without his knowledge would be intriguing
