I bought the new Canadian Pacific ES44AC at the Lionel store today. These are the newest ES44's from Volume 1 of the 2024 catalog, and they are AMAZING!!!
@jaystrains27 I'm not sure when they'd arrive at other brick and morter stores like Trainworld, MrMuffin, Legacy Station etc etc, but I bought mine in person at the actual Lionel store. I think the regular ES44's are arriving before the NS heritage ES44's (Lehigh, Monongahela, Pennsy). All I know is that the CSX, UP, and CP ones have arrived. Even on the website it now says CSX, UP, and CP ES44's are sold out, with just few UP superbass units remaining.
Lionel still didn't bother to use the correct horn sound for these. Hopefully, the new ET44AC's will, though. None of the horns on this engine are correct.
@DynamicDuo795 Yeah, that's pretty much the one and only thing I was upset about. Can't complain too much though, since it at least has the nathan m5 and it's one of my all time favorite horns lol. But anyway, I was hoping they'd have brought back the correct horn, like the one on the VisionLine Canadian Pacific ES44 or even the regular non-Vision diecast ES44's. It's genuinely shameful that the last time the correct horn was used was all the way back in 2013. It's consistently been all wrong horns for the ES44 from 2015 onward, which is just sad. I'm hoping they will have that horn on the ET44's, I sincerely think they might receive backlash if they don't lol. I'll be getting the CN ET44.
I disagree on the color of these new units. I just received my CP with super base and the red is orangey unlike my other CP engines and the BNSF super base is more mustardy than BNSF orange on my other Lionel Engines. First time in 15 years I’ve seen the color be off. I’m wondering if these ES44s are prior MTH tooling and color specs. For sure colors do not match any of my previous Lionel CP and BNSF engines. Anyone else see this?
I agree the color on these CP ES44s are terrible. It's almost like a neon orange red. They also failed to paint the top of the hood black, the front door is on the wrong side, and the CP logo is too big. Epic fail for $750 MSRP Lionel used this same brutal color the CP SD40s and their CP gondolas. MTH would not screw up CP, Soo line red like this. The product development color blind and need to find a new line of work.
@@robbern2150the images online that I’ve seen of the 89series ES44s doesn’t show any black above the nose, however does show a window in the door. Why did Lionel leave this out when other modern diesels that they have made, showed that detail??!!
The first image I pull up in Google of CP 8951 has the top of the hood painted black. Almost every CP ES44 I've seen is painted this way. I doubt Lionel has the tooling to correctly model the configuration of the front door. They don't want to spend the money on it despite the staggering price of these models.
@keithneal3253 They certainly aren't ex-MTH tooling. Lionel ES44's have fixed pilots (what they call "kinematic") meanwhile the MTH ES44's have pilots that move with the truck, makes the Lionel ones look much more prototypical going on turns. As for the color, I have no idea how they'd mess up so bad, seeing as the Vision Line Canadian Pacific ES44's red was fine. I put it next to a Lionel CP GP35 dummy I have and the colors don't match at all, slightly infuriating. Also, not only are the colors wrong, but all 5 of the horns are wrong. I'm honestly thinking of selling it lol. But it's at least a good puller 🤷♂️ I just hope they don't screw up the upcoming ET44's this badly.
Just found your channel, cool CP unit.
Congratulations ,thx for sharing!😊 cheers!🎉
These are beautiful!
Awesome!! I have one of these on the way, glad they got the red right
I like it . Very nice .
Really nice!!! Are these just arriving at stores now? Everyplace I’ve checked still has them only as preorders…

I heard about this too of the incorrect red color. I personally own all the new CSX heritages and 2 regular CSX. Color is correct and also not gloss.
