What an articulate smart man🌟Despite all the controversy around him, I have to pay tribute to his great intellect, great education and creativity 🔥🔥RIP artist🙌🏻
I am somewhat surprised they haven't made a play or musical about Malcom's life in the public eye. Quite overdue...not a film...a musical theater piece...just a wish
This is utterly Brilliant! Although, It would be awesome to see the film cut to; photo of said style of clothing , location of shops, Diors drawings, his mamas dresses, the artists in question, fetish ads etc.. That would take this to a Historical level able to be used as curriculum I dare say!!!
Style was a way for people to "parade themselves in a way that made them look like they were happy". What a great statement. Relevant to this day. Comes across like a dodgy sales man but was obviously a genuine human.
I think it was too soon, only 9 years prior, he probably just saw them as a failed project to sweep under the carpet compared to his later successes - plus they sort of muddy the waters of his 'I created Punk out of nowhere' legend, it was only later when the timeline is detailed from a wider lens/others that TNYD's contribution gained its rightful place
@@oldskoolfool141 yes agree but also again conveniently forgetting the whole Richard Hell torn T-shirt nihilistic looking NYC genesis of Punk look also Patti Smith Ramones,Iggy Pop etc
No wonder j lydon hated him, he had the intellect and foresight and style and class that johnny longed to have, but because he was from poor working class backround he had none of the greatness of Malcolm, that's why he was bitter and angry , knowing also that Sid was the real punk
I don't think you know what yout talking about?......allthough Sid WAS the only punk in the band thats why he didn't get it quite right!.............Pistols started somthing......

Thanks so much for putting this wonderful footage interview up!
Very impressive Malcom! Will have to revisit some other interviews now..
one might think music would run out of new fashions but it seems to keep em coming, now it's rap fashion

Sounded like he said "happening", not "happy".

Great stuff.
Great 3 part interview with Malcolm McLaren.
Ingenious
The music is a given. If only
I'm a huge fan of malcolm, but I see he didn't credit the fashion designer Vivian Westwood here, she who credit those designs he's mentioning.
dress up to mess up
Shame Malcolm and Andrew Loog Oldham never met, would be fascinating.
Somehow he forgot to mention his experience with the NY Dolls lol

@@nickmichael5494 The Ramones and Patti Smith were boring as far as fashion goes.

Malcolm was working class, grammar school dropout who managed to get into art school.....
