    We fished spillways mainly snook and tarpon. One night a friend of mine hooked a 10 pound bass caught on a one pound mullet. He mounted the bass with the mullet head first in his mouth. It was the best mount I have ever seen.

    You'd be surprised at how many dams/spillways & levees are owned -n- maintained by the Army Corp of Engineers ..... they're
    also involved in electric generation & operating of turbines. I only mention this b/c on top of wildlife -n- fisheries laws for the
    fishing you'll also deal with the Army Corp's Officers who have their own officers working some fishing areas. If you do much
    fishing around their facilities you will meet them. I've met them when I was too far up near the release gates at a dam site
    but that's where you can get lots of free lures/lead & even fishing rods. So yeah, good to know who's out there. peace

    So, here in Louisiana, the colloquial name for bowfin is “Choupique.” You have to keep them alive until you’re ready to clean them and then immediately eat them. I’ve had it a couple times filleted and fried up right after catching them and believe it or not, actually quite good.

    • @AnglerUpTv
      @AnglerUpTv  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    • @matthewclayton9822
      @matthewclayton9822 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@AnglerUpTv Awesome! Hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Another suggestion, bleed the fish right before you clean it. That will help the meat quality also. If you have to wash/handle the filet too much before you fry it up, the meat will get kind of mushy on you.

    Brent,
    I once heard a fisherman on his podcast describe working an artificial as the following, thought you might appreciate it:
    If you were at a school dance, and you saw a girl dancing out on the floor, jerking, jumping and twitching all over the place, would you go out on the floor and ask her to dance? Or, would you rather dance with one that acts normal?
    I often think of that when I see you really working your lures. Not judging. You're obviously quite the fisherman. Just thought you might enjoy the story. Be well!
