I have just put the same yx140 with z40 cam into mine not yet to test it out as waiting for clutch cable to arrive. I think I need to buy that cdi as mine as major kick back and it’s pretty hard to start lol great video
Cheers! The cdi is good whilst it lasts but they don't last long for some reason, always put the engine just past tdc before kicking and don't twist the throttle only raise the rpm slightly with idle screw, ive always had better luck with a slightly rich pilot jet for easier starts, they sure can kickback though!
Mad. Can't remember my gearing but I know it don't go that fast. I have a yx140 but my carb is garbage and my engine is stock not got the z40 cam or lighter flywheel or anything yet but I will one day that looks fun as hell. Mine already seems fast enough 😅 I do look forward to more power one day though for sure I'd like to port it all do the works 😊
Yes! as high gearing as I could find haha, I had a few more runs last week when it was colder air and have managed 76.7mph on gps and that's at approx 8600rpm. The tyres are kitaco duro 110/80 x 8 inch tyres so yeah very small! I have no idea how much compression gains from the thinner gasket but its an easy mod so thought it could only help!
@@corz758 I eventually went to 19 front 25 rear or an 18 front 23 rear, this sacrificed a little top speed but was much better all round , results may vary though, I tried a lot of sprocket combos
@@VOLITANT nice one mate that's the one I've only got a 125cc lifan engine in my pit bike but I'm ordering a yx 140 engine and going to experiment with the sprockets
@@VOLITANT pretty crazy with the sprocket difference with top end I would rather have top end like you and loose a little bottom end my lifan 125cc only has a 41 rear and a 16tooth front and pretty fast I could even try a 18tooth front and 37tooth rear and it would add loads of top end because I can hear the engine has more to give when I'm topping it out
Acceleration is basically the same in 1st and 2nd as these gears are always way too short but 3rd and 4th will wind on for much longer which is better for road use and a higher top speed
I'm about to use a 18 tooth front sprocket and a 26 tooth rear or maybe a 28 im hoping to hit 70mph with a good 50mph cruising speed ... what do you think ?
Where did you buy your engine ? I am looking for a YX140 to buy in the UK, I have found the YX140 outer rotor and molt carb on a pit bike website but I am not sure that can fit a Skyteam Dax or need some modifications for lights/wirings/... any help ?
Hi there, I bought my engine second hand, It should fit a dax no problem at all, You just need a stator with 12v lighting coil ( 5 wire stator not a standard 3 wire stator)
It's a blue 5pin easy start cdi from ooracing, it definitely did help reduce kickback from starting, other than that it felt just like any other standard cdi
@@Chozenfew73 I am using the other blue one which has black potting rather than the clear potted "digital" one, you may want to check your flywheel size and weight and read their descriptions incase
@@Chozenfew73 ah yes I think you do need the clear digital one then, try and double check though as I haven't used that one, my yx140 did not have the light weight fly wheel
The carb was from a friend and was already jetted quite close from the last engine it was on, it did run a little on the rich side but it gave peace of mind when hauling wide open for long periods, I also did do some minor porting and matching to help
If remember correctly I run 3.50 rear and 3.00 front, I think this is roughly the maximum size you can run with stock swingarm and forks, the tyres are kitaco duro
Many thanks. Is it quite nippy on acceleration aswell ? Or just top end ? Cheers

Are the tyres very small in diameter/profile??
Did I give much with those thinner gaskets?

I did a test run on my Gorilla yesterday it hits that speed at 3rd gear. I prepped mine and installed 17t front. I'm run on stock 8" wheels.
if you hit that speed in only 3rd gear then thats very impressive haha!
How do u wire the igniotn etc for electric start and indicators?

Same engine and wheel size? If so that should be about right, for road use I normally recommend as tall gears as possible but 18/26 should be good 👍
I have 10inch same wheels as you yes 110/80-10 tyre

I ended up getting the 26 rear sproket.. I will be fitting the 18 front and 26 rear this weekend can't wait lol
