    You can also use coconut oil and my favorite, Avocado oil. Try to cut them small as possible, but the cutting in half version works really nice, they are way better crispy and thin, IMO! When they are too thick they have more of a toast type chewyness, but thin and crisp they really are super similar to real fries. Personally I think they are best with the almond flour, and a garlic Parmesan butter to dip 😋 Thank you for crediting Heavenly Fan, as she came up with this recipe, but I really think you could have credited her vocally in the video.

    Frying them in olive oil give them a real fry flavor. She is right. They are a life saver. Now you can have chili fries etc. even your own version of animal style fries. These were a game changer for me. I have lupus so I’m on keto for the rest of my life. I do 20 carbs or less everyday. That is what works for me. I don’t need to lose weight anymore but with hypothyroidism I can only maintain staying on induction phase.

      If it’s extra virgin olive oil (the other stuff is made the same way as other seed oils and just as bad) then you shouldn’t be deep frying with it.
      Extra virgin olive oil becomes carcinogenic at those temperatures.

    I'm going to try both recipes tomorrow. One of them better taste like fries lol. Edit: tried both recipes, I didn't like the coconut flour recipe at all didn't resemble fries to me. Cooked the coconut flour fries both in olive oil and the air fryer and the air fryer method gave off more of a potato taste and texture.
    Tried the Almond flour recipe in the air fryer and in olive oil ,this recipe crumbled more which made it harder to cut. The air fryer gave off a potato like crunch but the olive oil was a huge success, definitely tasted like fries just the texture was abit off. So almond flour in olive oil is my new favourite. I haven't had fries in months and now I won't have to pretend fries don't exist haha. Thank you so much💕

My son kept eating them, he was like this is better than fries. LOL!! I didn't have ketchup but G Hughes sugar free Hickory BBQ sauce was the bomb diggity for this. OMG!! Soo good. I tried the fries only with the coconut flour because I couldn’t figure out where I put my almond flour haha. But yeah, it tastes sweet. Inside has the starchy texture but the outside doesn’t have that crunch factor. I also had to cut them in half as well but it didn’t make a difference in texture. I added salt and pepper and dipped in ketchup to mask the coconut flavor but still tastes coconutty.

    I cut carrots into sticks and tossed them in a Tablespoon of organic beef lard melted and fried them in the air fryer. They did not taste like carrots, more like McDonald's fries tasted when I was a kid. Carrots have a lot of sodium I ate them without salt. If you try it, taste first. The color was fine too, but you can get yellow carrots. Best if carrots are not cold because it hardens on carrots, didn't affect the taste, though.

    Wow! French fries on a keto diet! I will try the coconut flour version because almonds are high in oxalates, which apparently precipitate tormenting foot cramps in me. (Oxalates are compounds in some plants and seeds that bind with minerals like calcium and magnesium and prevent those minerals from being absorbed by the body. Almonds are classified as High Oxalate.) Off to the kitchen!

    • @dianafoot
      @dianafoot 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree! I had an incredibly painful experience with a kidney stone and then found I had a number of other stones waiting in the wings. Oxalates from almonds is a huge contributer to those types of stones, so I had to stop with the almond flour, milk, nuts, etc. Luckily, I'd already discovered that I loved the coconut flour version much better!

I think the trick to not have them taste like dough is to cut them thin and just as she shows in the video cut again in half after cooking them half way through. That way they get really crispy and salt them really well like real fries. When dipped in ketchup honestly couldn't tell the difference. So yummy alongside my bunless turkey burger.

    I just made these. Not bad. I get a mild coconut flavor so I think tomorrow I will make some more but add an herb to it. Maybe garlic powder to make garlic fries. I'm not doing keto but I am trying to watch my carb intake. However, my husband is doing keto. I had mine with a smidge bit of ketchup. Totally masked the coconut taste. In all, not bad.

      If you try slicing them again half way thorugh cooking after they start puffing up you shouldnt taste any coconut!
