    This is from an 86 yo live alone guy still learning new stuff. Teacher girl, you have the "it" teaching gift that many academics with impressive letters behind their names wish they had. And you're too cute! You keep on learning new things, simplifying them, and teaching them and you will make the world a better place. God bless you.

    While not perfect, I want to seriously applaud you for editing your video, including in-video captions, and putting time-stamps in your description. I had to sift through dozens of videos where ladies spent 10 minutes saying "um" and "uh" and talking about why they bought an instapot (no one cares) and spending several minutes struggling with the appliance (and not cutting the footage) and with what to say because they didn't think about it before recording. The fact that you put in the extra effort to edit your video means a lot.

    I may have written this already, but this is the absolute best video on exactly every step to do to start, and showing every particular part, like showing the float valve when it pops down and how you hear it, etc. The manual is okay but for the first time when I was most nervous it was wonderful. I kept my laptop open on the kitchen table so I could make sure I was doing it just as you've said. Time to send your video link to my sister. I just gave her one for a holiday gift and she's ready to start! :)

  • @anonjag
    @anonjag 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good instructions, as a man my kitchen experience leaves a lot to be desired, upon doing the water test for the first time i misunderstood the digital time display and set my unit for 02:00 which left me wondering if my pot was faulty as it was progressing extremely slowly, your video set me straight as i had set it for 2 hours rather than 2 minutes. Now i can use this pot with confidence.

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      OH! I can see how the display is confusing and left you with questions! Mine took a long time because I had more water than required for the water test, which can be done with just one cup.
      I hope you enjoy your Instant Pot! I have a small playlist of IP videos if you haven't seen it yet.

    This is a good way of showing this test.I had a little bit of a time wondering if they meant 3 or the third line on the pot.I did choose the 3 and everything worked good but it seem to take awhile.I do love the instant-pot and as time goes on I find new videos like yours.Thank You

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great! Yes, it's a little confusing because apparently some manuals state 3 cups and others say mark 3. Either one will work, but as long as you have one cup (8 oz) water to do the test, it will be fine.
      I also love the Instant Pot! Thanks for watching and commenting!

      I would only use the towel loosely as the pot needs to release the steam and I think the manual says not to cover the valve. You’ll get used to the steam coming out; I don’t use a towel anymore. Enjoy your IP!

      UPDATE
      I did the test run with 3 cups of water per instruction manual (my pot has only 1/2 and 2/3 marks) and I did put a small towel on top when I quick released the pressure, just in case. I removed the towel and the steam was not forceful. I pressure cooked a couple batches of chickpeas and they turned out lovely in just 35 minutes unsoaked. That's the main reason I bought it-for legumes that normally take hours. Mine has a sous vide function so I will try that next. I found out you can use ziplock bags for that and I do have a Food Saver so I can use regular vacuum bags as well. That should be very interesting.

    It is the BEST of all the videos. My 3 qt DUO spews so much steam, and ricey water and milky oatmeal that my counters and cabinets are drenched and the food is undercooked and stuck to the bottom. I think the excessive steam release causes too much water loss and the poor condition of the food. I think I only need a new steam release but will have to return the whole pot due to non response from IPSupport. I used email, instant chart and phone. 9 days now.

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you liked my video but sorry to hear your problems. I believe it does say in the manual not to cook certain starchy foods, or do a quick release with them as this may happen. Some foods create a lot of foam/bubbles in the pot when it's cooking and when the steam is forced out, it creates a mess. Maybe you could try cooking less time, and try natural release so the steam comes out on its own.

    Thank you for producing this video! My Mom cooked a lot of our food in a stove-top pressure cooker (the only kind 'back then') and we had delicious meals come out of it! I'm not 'kitchen-minded' like she was (there being seven of us kids!), so I was always scared of a pressure cooker! Now I'm about to purchase the 6 qt Duo Instant Pot, especially based on friends' recommendations and encouragement; and this video has helped me see this pressure cooker as less of a mystery! Thanks much again!

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joan, thank you for watching. How interesting to read your mom used the stove-top pressure cookers for a lot of your meals and fed a large family this way. I agree, pressure cookers can be intimidating; my mom also used one and they scared me as well! When I learned about the electric version, I was thrilled!
      I hope you find the Instant Pot easier to use than the stove-top versions, and less intimidating. You'll get the hang of it after using it just a few times.
      Thanks for watching!

    Put it to line 3 if you want to wait forever. The instructions say 3, meaning 3 cups, not 3 liters. Just fill to the line between the 1 and the 2 on the cup side of the measuring. This still lets you know if your pot is working correctly without taking so much time.

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, three cups will be plenty and save a lot of time.

    • @volaticus
      @volaticus 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean the manual reads, 'Insert the inner pot in the cooler and add water to the "3" mark on the inner pot.'
      Considering there is no "3" for cups (there's a small notch but not an actual number next to the notch), but there is a "3" for liters then it's safe to assume the manual is referring to liters not cups and she followed the instructions correctly.

    • @vickimachovsky3480
      @vickimachovsky3480 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      They must have updated the manual, I just bought one today and now the manual says 3 measuring cups. Nice to know it will take little less time. The tutorial was very clear and easy to understand, went over the points clearly and in order of the manual so I feel confident I will be starting out right, best one I have seen. Well done!

    Thank you very much for a very well done video. I made a mistake with my water test the first time because the written manual was not clear on how much water you need to put in i.e. "3" can meal 3L or 3 cups. With less water, the steam kept oozing for a long time with high pitched whistle noise. I was ready to go back to my traditional no-frill hot pot cooker. Also thanks for going through all the pieces and parts on your video. It is very helpful in helping me understand the design of this appliance and gadgets that come with it.

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I agree, the manual wasn't clear on the water, and my only "3" is definitely not for cups.
      I wonder why yours was whistling, did you have the sealing ring in place? This should always be checked before putting on the lid. Your pot can't come to pressure and have a good seal if this is not on right.
      I'm so glad the video helped you! Good luck!!

    Great video! I'm new to the electric instant pot, I do have a stove top pressure cooker that I used for many years. I cooked many delicious with my stove top cooker, but had to babysit it to make sure the rocker valve was functioning correctly. Thanks.
    JUST bought my DUO SV on sale from Costco.
    NOTE: the manual states Display will say END after 5min.
    IT DOES NOT. It goes into some kind of "L00:00" display which appears to be showing how long it's been on warming. It would be great if you cross reference this mistake in the manual with reality. Still a great video.

    • @clearingclutterforclarity1508
      @clearingclutterforclarity1508  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick, I’m surprised to hear IP is still putting out confusing manuals!
      My IP shows L00:00 which as you said is the warming time after the cooking time is finished.
      Thanks for watching and also this info!
