      Hi Aona, I tried to visit the URL that you quote in your video at time signature 12:31 (which is different than the URL you give in your description below the video.) Unfortunately the one you quote in your video is different and the URL is malicious in nature. You may want to try using youtube editing to include a clickable link directly in the video that shows the right URL directly in the video so folks do not visit the malicious URL by accident like I did. :) Hope this helps

    Aona, your knowledge is clearly so extensive, but what is extremely fascinating is the way you structure and convey this information. It is so intelligent, easy to follow and yes, aesthetically pleasing. Keep up the amazing work here!

    Hi Aona! This is a super helpful video. Do you have a separate video going more in-depth about the UX research presentation? Or does this video serve as that? I know you gave some great tips in this video. I was wondering if there's another video exclusively on that. Thank you!

    Your videos are awesome! They really answers most of my questions while prepping for a UXR interview!!
    2 questions though!
    1. Do they usually mention that I need to prepare for a portfolio presentation?
    2. As for the presentation, how should the presentation look? Do I need to prepare a keynote or a structured story telling script is enough?
    Thank you in advance!

    Your content has really helped me over the past few months. I was wondering something and I was hoping you could help me out.
    So I recently graduated with my BS in psychology and will start my MS in data science this fall. I did a research project during my undergrad ( it was only me working on it but I did have a professor assist me through the process) the project was finding the Relationship between Intramural, Club, and University Student-Athletes’ Belongingness and Sport Motivation during COVID-19.
    I was wondering if I can use that project on my UX portfolio or even my project presentation since that is my only official research project I have done so far. Although the project wasnt testing a product in any way but I still had to create an interview schedule for the participants and analyze/interpret the data.
    Thank you!

    Would you add research that isn't UX to a portfolio? Most of what I have done is not associated with a product.

  • @crystaltong1869
    @crystaltong1869 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could you elaborate on how much a tech company would care about which phase of the product you do most research in? How do you categorize the phases of a product in relation to research? thanks!

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey I’m referring to the foundational/design iterative/ evaluative research. If you have experience working on all 3 types of research projects of course it would be much preferred. But most of the time you need to have at least some design iterative and evaluative research projects under your belt.

    Hi! I had a question about confidentiality. I'm scared to share details of a research project at my company in an interview because I did sign hefty NDAs about it. I know you said that there is mutual confidentiality in interviews, but I have never heard of that before. Is there something I will sign to protect the confidentiality of the companies I've worked for? How much can I show and say?

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good question! I don’t think there are strict guidelines on this. Some companies do mention the “mutual confidentiality” - I have experienced a few (you can usually ask the recruiter about it). For projects choices, just to be on the safe side, I usually only select projects that are very foundational (that won’t disclose any confidential designs/branding of the company). Eg If you work at a makeup company and you did a foundational research on female age range 18-24’s makeup purchase habit, I would use it - and make sure you hide any confidential/sensitive info about the company. I also talked about this in this video: th-cam.com/video/LZPiliJNpP0/w-d-xo.html

    I'm in academia and all I want is a UX research internship 😭 idk why it's so hard. Isn't the point of an internship to gain experience? How am I supposed to gain experience when the competition is people with a bunch of experience already 😩

    • @AonaTalks
      @AonaTalks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It’s a pretty fierce competition and unfortunately internship openings are still sparse this year 😣 but I do believe it will pick up eventually!
      Also, you don’t need to have industry experience to get an internship - you just need research experience. Either through school projects or self started projects. But you do need to have them.

    Hi Aona, I really need to learn how to demonstrate your collaboration skill in your portfolio? I cannot think of a better way, so I just post our photos on it 😂 Because all the works are done together with teammates, it's really hard to tell what I have contributed to the team. I always feel collaboration is very hard to measure. Can I just say... like I participated in every session in this research?

    • @sshrivaas
      @sshrivaas 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same question as well. In my case I've mentioned the names of the team members clearly. And when I need to showcase someone else's work (paper prototypes or visuals) to bolster my own contributions I make sure to give credit for it.
      What I hear is the people don't usually do this because it takes the focus off of you. But i've also heard contradicting opinions that this is a good thing since it shows you can work in a team and that you own your work and support others in theirs.
      Aona can probably throw more light on this
