This problem isn't specific to Las Vegas. Many cities are now experiencing a relentless crime wave, driving businesses out. Many of these police departments are woefully understaffed. And what can we expect when the justice system just gives these criminals a slap on the wrist?

Yep. It’s a gangster’s paradise; these big cities and it’s total capitulation by local police forces and prosecutors that refuse to do any prosecuting that are the issue. The same government that won’t protect you wants to take away your guns. If you have to go to Vegas stay in large groups and avoid prostitution and drugs and ppl associated with those things

In 1984 when my wife and I got married we visited Las Vegas. We live in Scotland. We loved it so much that we visited the city another 29 times over the following 35 years. Vegas changed a lot in that time, mostly for the best, but latterly tensions rose and lawlessness became more open . To our dismay we had to decide not to come back. You are an exceptional man Steven and your video moved me. Please keep posting and I'll keep watching.

Try visiting Vegas more as a local. I am literally never scared here. Stay at a "locals casino/hotel" like Red Rock. While you're at it, go visit Red Rock Canyon. Check out the beauty of the area instead of staying on The Strip all the time. 99% of people think Vegas is only The Strip, when it really is far more than that.

I am a Californian who has little interest in going to Vegas anymore. Prefer the native American casinos in Coachella Valley - which so far are peaceful and chill. Two points worth discussing - Bukele - the leader of El Salvador has put all gang members in jail and murders and crime has plummeted - why cant we follow this mode. Secondly, I'm surprised that you as a Canadian have not returned to the country. I just returned from British Colombia and amazed how a big city like Vancouver has clean streets, less crime and a higher standard of living. I would much prefer to spend my vacation time in a place like Canada than in a violent cesspool like the Strip.

As a recently retired police officer of 31 years located in California I can tell you why crime so high in Vegas, however, people are not ready to hear it. I have an ex-partner who did a lateral transfer you Vegas-Metro as approx. 10 years so and he has seen quite an upbeat in crime since COVID. Her told me his take on it and of course I believe everything he said. As a black male raised in Oakland, CA by his mother he's fought to be where he is today and I love this guy more than my brothers but not not than my wife lol. If I needed to hide my family I know he would be here within hours and disappear until safe. My wife and I travel to Vegas twice/yr. for ten days each and on our most recent trip I ordered a pizza (one HELL of a pizza, I can still taste it 😋) butt it was huge. My wife and I don't eat much so after I meet with the delivery guy in the main entrance to the Aria I came across two officers just standing near the entrance and not looking busy. I made contact and small talk then showed them I badge & I.D. because I didn't want to toss the pizza out and knew they wouldn't take any if i wasn't an officer, in which they gladly accepted. We, really they, did most of the talking for approx. 20 mins and covered the office and local government politics and which they gave me their perspectives on why crime is on the rise. It matched my ex-partners nearly verbatim. It's not difficult to see with our own eyes and my watching the daily crime videos on the local news channels. The suspects in nearly all these crimes of unprovoked physical assaults, thefts, robberies (armed & unarmed) petty thefts, hit & runs, DUI's, drug possession, etc., etc , etc., ALL have something in common in Vegas as with in Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, L.A., Oakland, etc., it's that the suspects are greatly majority black. Across the nation FBI & DOJ Stats show that nine out of ten blacks killed are done so by fellow blacks. But they Demon-cratic leaders refuse to acknowledge that as they also refuse to hold them accountable or serve any hard time. The reason crime jumped to record highs during COVID of because as the casinos, airlines and businesses began opening up again they were trying to draw visitors back and one way was to lower airlines tickets and hotel fees. Thus drawing in crowds that before Covid couldn't afford to fly to Vegas and/or stay in the casinos. They were seeing a rise in crime along with people acting stupid, remember seeing those idiots in videos racing up and down the strip on rented scooters and taking the damn things onto escalations just to get stuck and stop them from working? They were all capable of walking but just wanted to act like fools. Metro saw a rise in drunk in public, fighting on the strip, fine & dash (Defrauding an Inn Keeper), and shootings on the strip whereas they used to be kept away from tourists. THEN let's not forget a larger influx on Resisting Arrest, assault on police officers, obstruction, etc. Then of course when all these arrest of a certain 13% of they population started hitting the need and courts the liberal city leaders gave into "Community Leaders" wanting these criminals not only sent to hard time but to be arrested in the first place.
Before you liberals start screaming and crying racism by ignoring them facts they videos don't lie but also remember most honest black citizens WANT MORE POLICE PRESENCE and black males ages from 17-38 are 48% of murderer victims across the country. These young men are the highest murdered age group with no close 2nd place.
If you truly want to reduce crime you have to acknowledge the problem and have a criminal justice system to freak with those problems. So either hid your head in the Vegas dessert sand and keep voting Democrat or fight crime or better your city and easy of life and vote Republican or Independent and demand criminals need punished for their crimes, just don't wait until it happens to you or someone you care about.

I don’t think it makes sense to blame it all on the AA’s. As a Vegas resident who closely follows recent events; the ethnicities of the perps here are way more balanced compared to other places. Not denying that AA’s may be somewhat over represented in crime based on their share of the population; but you make it seem as if they’re almost all of the perps here or something. Tons and tons of perpetrators of Euro, Latin and Mixed descent as well here

My last trip to Vegas was in April. Stayed on the strip as usual. I've been going to Vegas for about 20 years. Each time I go, it seems a little worse. I currently have no desire to ever go again. With all the places to spend my entertainment money, Vegas is being replaced. I consider gambling entertainment, and always go expecting to lose all of my gambling budget. When I do win, it's a bonus. I'll be giving my money away where I feel safe and appreciated in the future.

Las Vegas has become a city of lawlessness. It’s almost impossible to even get a speeding ticket, they will just move it to “parking” violation once you pay it. You call the police for an emergency, it takes them forever to show up, if they even do at all. The residents of Las Vegas have to protect themselves because either the police won’t do anything, or they use the excuse they’re extremely understaffed. Before moving here, I didn’t know the crime was this bad, and it’s mainly the property crime that I’m alluding to, it’s ridiculous.

Crime is a national problem and its rising everywhere. While I don't disagree its an increasing issue, 2 things have struck me recently that are the opposite of what you say. I walk the strip almost everyday so I do get a real world sense. 1) when that nutjob from LA murdered the "showgirl" and a tourist on the Strip in broad daylight, I have seen a bigger presence of Metro talking to vagrants early morning and getting them to some kind of help. Its unfortunate it took that event but instead of "sweeping it under the rug" someone decided to do something about it. 2) About 4 months ago I saw an 818 tagger (again, LA gang) hitting various parts of the sidewalks, escalators, and buildings near Fashion mall. Literally the next day (which was Sunday) all the graffiti was gone like you could never tell. So it takes effort because stupid people are relentless.

Hans Brinker,,,Dutch boy who saves his country by putting his finger in a leaking dike is cute but the WAVE hitting America has barely even started. What is coming is akin to what you see in most neighborhoods on the July 4th...a total collapse of civility. Neighbors (with guests from out of State) bombing others with toxic munitions. Groups terrorizing with intersection takeovers. Hundreds of bikers taking over streets and attacking others simply driving in their way. That sort of behavior is now expanding across all areas of life. Destruction is the Mantra of people under 40. Why? because America is racist of course.
If I had the means I would be buying property miles from any town in the usual Western States so far safe from all this...

I tell my son whose now 22 and he has been to Vegas a number of times and he is very aware of the sick people on the strip. He's already experienced a person harassing him while he's gambling - had to call security or another instance just going to the restroom and getting approached. So many homeless and people with mental illness walking around the strip. You really have to be aware of people all around you.

I've been to Las Vegas over 30 times in the last 10 or so years. I truly enjoy it. What I learned early on was to avoid staying at street level Hotel/Casinos and to stay at destination properties. As much as I like Planet Hollywood, the Paris or the Cromwell, the street element is flowing through these locations making the uninitiated visitor a target.
A property like the Aria is different in that you have to be going there. While not free of problems, the presence of security and their response to problematic non-guests is pretty good, particularly at the pool were you can be very vulnerable.

  • @mylesc99

I've spoke to the police twice on the strip about issues that I've seen. Both instances were years apart. They shrugged it off, and said that they can't really do anything about it, even though it's illegal. However, in my small conservative city, they would be going after people like crazy, and not putting up with any BS. I know Vegas is a bigger city, and they tend to be democratic, or independent. If any laws are going to be enforced with strength, they need to elect a strong conservative mayor to turn the city around. I love Las Vegas also, and i hate what it's turning into.

    • @johndough23
      @johndough23 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's old news. Las Vegas decided about a decade ago to switch gears and go after people under 40. They were losing older Tourists and Locals for a longtime. As gambling spread to almost every State most people have no real need to visit. So they went full-on EDC, Sports, Rap, Nightclubs, Day Clubs, Beach Parties, Shopping and Panic Rooms. The only gambling really left are Sports Books and slowing Poker. Even five card is now dying off. The growth is Events not gambling.
I think what really scares Hotel management are AIRBnBs. I think there is a real push now to consolidate all the activity to the Strip and downtown completely. Creating a Tourist island of sorts. They would be more than happy to see the local economy go away be my sense.

I see the pain on your face. What you said, 98% of the people agree with you. Punish these criminals HARD. The police cannot do anything without risking there job and civil lawsuits. It’s a joke. I have heard about casino guest being robbed when they are sleeping. They suggested do not put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. I guess because the criminal will know you are inside or something. Tip: If you go on vacation. Take the vehicle registration and insurance card out of the car. My sister in law was on vacation about an hour from their house. There truck was broken into and the registration was stolen. When they got home there house was burglarized to the max. Their guns, musical instruments and a lot of stuff was stolen. It been a ride over Niagara Falls in the city I live near also Stephen. People going to the ball games at the stadium find their car windows broken out after the game. Dozens of cars after every game. Kia cars being stolen all over, even in the suburbs during daylight. Many of these cars end up crashing into totally innocent people. And the black on black crime is bad mostly by very young kids well under 18. One cop said we don't even finish the paper work before the kid is back on the street doing it all over again. What can we do about it, elect politicians who promise to address the problem and hope they mean it. (many don't) I remember a time when walking the strip and crime was the furtherest from my mind.

Probably THE BEST video I've seen you post because I noticed the same thing I've been here for over 20 yrs was a headliner in a major casino and even lived on the strip in one of the high rises ON the strip and loved walking to the bellagio fountains to hear time to say good bye almost every night but now I find myself rarely even driving down the strip because it pains me to see what it's become. Never were vagrants and homeless allowed to just lay on top of the banisters in front of the bellagio fountains, security used to get tourists off of there just for sitting while waiting for the show but now it's whatever, and it got worse after we reopened post plandemic, the stimulus money brought out the California hood rats that couldn't afford to stay on the strip it was immediately noticeable but no one says it because no one wants to be called a racist or phobe or be canceled but that's what happened ghetto people brought the ghetto with them and here we are but again no one wants to say it but the truth is the truth and we are living in a time when the truth, biology, and common sense is being attacked so no its not gonna get better sadly and I love this city as much as you do but like a dementia family member it's just a shell of what it once was!!

It’s kind of like what happened to the high desert and the Inland Empire in CA. People moved from L.A. to get to a cheaper cost of living and to get their kids away from the “bad kids.” Well it turned out their kids WERE the bad kids and just brought the problems to another area and ruined it.

I haven’t visited in the last few years but in the past never felt afraid to be on the strip or downtown. This is not only a Las Vegas problem. I live in the Philadelphia, PA suburbs and worked and visited things in downtown Philadelphia regularly. However now I do not feel safe even in busy downtown areas. Every night on TV news we here about shootings, assaults and car jacking happening even in the downtown areas during the day. I am now retired and have plenty of time to shop, visit attractions and eat at restaurants. However I now usually do not go into the city anymore and even reconsider going out anywhere due to the increase of these type of incidents happening even in the suburbs. So I agree all regional police forces must have our support enforcing the laws and try to prevent these type of things from happening. Otherwise we will become hermits in our homes watching TV, video feeds on our computers and eating at home and hoping no one tries to break into our houses. You hit the nail on the head, Steven. I was there for the 22nd time just a few weeks ago and the difference from just 4 years ago is night and day. Just on this last visit, I saw a fist fight on the pedestrian bridge between Park MGM and Ross during daylight, several prostitutes openly soliciting without worry at the Aria (Gem Bar), 4 Queens security ignore several panhandlers obviously hitting up patrons inside the casino and worst of all, a man who appeared to have been beaten (fairly bad) getting tended to outside of Mon Ami Gabi during the early evening. I do agree things seem worse everywhere than they did 4 years ago, but Vegas seems to be on a whole other planet considering what it was like in 2019 and before. I can recall seeing bike patrols and officers on foot way more often back then compared to now. I probably won't be back for at least a few more years and I'm seriously considering just skipping the Strip and Downtown for either South Point or GVR when I do return.

Downtown Denver is empty at night because it's definitely not safe. People were shot while celebrating the Nuggets victory a few weeks ago for gods sake. A drug deal gone bad. I avoid downtown Denver no matter what time it is. Just got back from Europe and the contrast in Budapest and Vienna vs US cities is shocking. Huge crowds including families with young kids out in the evenings. Restaurants so packed you can't get reservations. People walking about having a good time and absolutely no fear that someone is going to pull a gun and start shooting. I even took a stroll along the river in Vienna by myself and it was one big party with mostly young people out having a good time with their friends. I felt perfectly safe. I wouldn't do that in a major city in the US on a bet. We've lost something and I don't know how we'll ever get it back.

Law enforcement should take action and arrest the criminals, but I do not want to advocate sanctioned execution of unarmed criminals. My late Father was a policeman, so they need to be trained how to arrest the criminal element and not resort to "shoot first; ask questions later." Even with all his training, he shot and killed a family member in our backyard after an altercation, prior to going on duty, and it almost ruined our family. That is what jails are for.

Yesterday's latest where some guy at Caesars grabbed a woman (I guess a domestic violence situation), broke out a window and started throwing stuff out the window like t.v. tables, chairs, etc. down onto the people at the pool area with glass breaking, etc. The area had to be evacuated. They interviewed one couple from Wisconsin who looked kind of dazed by the event and they said they were worried it was a shooting and didn't know exactly what to do. And the news media out here plays a big role in sweeping it under the rug by extreme under reporting of what's going on and the levels of crime here. They barely report it or give a quick little clip of some violent situation. Just like the cops, the media has probably been warned not to talk too much about stuff like this on air....just move along and don't give the city a bad rep. tourists and anyone here need to be very careful and watchful at all times. And now the problem with longer wait times on 911..better know how to protect yourself because the cops won't do it for you.

As a international tourist I probably would never return to Vegas. Too many scammers, homeless and trouble. We would go to other cities in Nevada but Vegas would have to be completely different. Its a shame because its good for revenue, food, shows

I believe that the problem is to many people are scared to be responsible for their own safety especially after the crazy guy shot up the concert. I believe Vegas strong. If more people carried the proper tools for people’s safety and more people stopped voting for politicians that don’t want you to keep yourself and neighbors safe most of these criminals would stop.

The "crazy guy" was located on a high floor of a hotel. Armed citizens would not have stopped him, and they may have ended up harming *more* innocent people.
Most young Americans support gun control, or even gun elimination. Biden is expected to win in 2024, so I don't see loosened gun regulations happening anytime soon.

Easy fix……start voting red. Zero debate. Clean house. Insert red only. Cold hard facts.
Second, get the Sheriffs to take over law enforcement. Their boss is the Constitution and the people, not politics.

100 percent..............Criminals don't fear the law.....they don't fear being arrested or charged because they know they will have a light sentence if at all and they can go back to being criminals.

    Hi Steven
After watching the video about Las Vegas, I must agree with you, have been coming here since 1999 twice a year until the year 2021. I cannot believe it since 2018 when I brought some friends with me to show what a great town the strip.
I was shocked in 2021. People in CVS just took items and walked out. The homeless were on the sidewalk just lying there, the people on the street, selling alcohol, the girls walking around in these outfits and asking for money, the silly characters that are in the street looking for money, when is the town going to stop this and start enforcing the laws. The laws are to protect everyone. Hotels keep raising prices to compensate for the theft that's going on in town and paying for the homeless. It needs to stop because it will get worse.

I can remember back in the '90's when my wife aand I would go to Vegas 2 or 3 times a year. We could walk up and down the Strip with drink in one hand and a bucket of coins in the other. Go8ng from one casino to the next just enjoying the good times. THAT Vegas is gone. And it is really sad. We even had a timeshare there right behind the Flamingo and loved going there. We finally got rid of it and haven't been to Vegas in over 4 years. Not likely to return.

I’ve been going to Vegas for more than 25 years. It’s simply not worth it now and safety is one of the reasons. I blame the mayor for allowing all the street performers and not addressing the homeless and vagrants. It just creates more situations where people can get have a negative interaction.

The problem is that once politicians _finally_ start dealing with homeless people, so-called anti-poverty groups will claim "It's a war on the poor". Many news organizations now use the phrase "people experiencing homelessness" rather than "homeless people" or "vagrants". Biased news publishers, big tech censorship and organized political groups (especially if lead by celebrities) can easily stop a politician from getting re-elected.

my post below was made before you told about the police interview. so they OBVIOUSLY know what the problem is. the solution is simple. you put the national guard on the strip, automatic weapons, live ammo, no hesitation to pull. it's tragic what's going on in vegas and all across the country. western civilization is committing suicide over it's insanely misplaced guilt. actually, watching the video a second time i could see that you did the best you could, and did make a statement that would get past trouble for your channel. so good job after all.

100 shootings a weekend in Chicago…..everything is relative. It’s a cake walk in Vegas 6 visits this year for me. If you were in Vegas in the 90s you would see how much more wholesome it is now. Hot dog stands are the new card slappers….
