25 Investigates: Massachusetts police chief working from Florida

- 25 Investigates received an anonymous tip that the chief moved to Punta Gorda and a public records search shows he’s registered to vote there.
He has been working remotely for about a year and a half due to “unusual” circumstances.
I think Massachusetts needs a whole new overhaul on their policing
And Government!
How bout every single department in the country
And the court system, as well as all their state agencies.
“Overhaul” is the correct term. Police reform will never happen. Once you’re trying to reform something, it’s already beyond reform. The entire system of policing needs to be shut down and rebuilt. From the academy, to the commissioners.
How dishonest and corrupt id this operation?
There is something wrong in Massachusetts.
Liberal states are the worse!
Ho ho ho : for years 😃😄😁😀😉
Good God! It just keeps coming!! People protecting them too.😮
Ask Karen Read!
Its not Massachusetts, its the image dishonesty of law enforcement and the corruption of the upper level leadership in higher ed.
A no show job on state payroll… shocking
Police chief of a university college does nothing but administration work. The college has to have a person on the books as chief. He wants to retire but they need him till they get someone else. That's why he let his certifications expire.
@@roninthedestroyer8958He’s already retired in FL. He’s still collecting a paycheck because it seems no one cares.
@@verucasalt2391 did you read what I wrote and what the president of the university said?? They are just using him till they get someone qualified. You can't have a police department without a police chief.
Sounds like our SENILE President Joey Biden.
@@RobertLabonte-cw1bc senile and corrupt
He sounds like he is "Retired", but he did not turn in the paperwork. After the President of the University spoke, it was a scam and they both need to go.
He stoled a paycheck from the University with the President's permission.
Yup I’d check into the college president to see if he’s getting a piece of of that 170,000
stole* a
Best friends
Do not know about you but I never gave the president permission to say how the police do their jobs
@@georgecraytin9838 I* do not know

Next they'll be telling us that he is so irreplaceable, that he'll be collecting a check from the grave.
😂
😂😂😂
Remember Menino and McGonagall? Bureaucracy is full of crooks. It's not just Mass.
We have voters who vote from the grave, why not collect a paycheck too.
The University President is a joke.
Indeed. He’s shakier than the remote police chief.
What's next? Remote firefighters? Remote paramedics?
I’m sure they are looking for a loophole for that too.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
A chief does not really do anything lol, they even have secretaries to do the paperwork. There’s nothing wrong with this
He's on vacation and getting paid. That's the broken system at work for itself
Probably collecting a multi 6 figure salary.
Lmao yeah $170,000 is "probably" six figures, but who could possibly know for sure
i wouldnt be surprised if he's working construction details in Dorchester from his own backyard.
Tell us you didn't pay attention without telling us you didn't pay attention...... 😢
@@ghostwalk2446 so far this year .
So, they couldn't pick a new "second in command" who didn't need a double lung transplant, and even if the first person was recovered ..... after a double lung transplant they're fit to be a police chief??????????? Mkay.
Right i didnt even know that was a thing but i cant imagine recovery is easy
Could be argued Protected under the ADA if they are having medical issues, have to offer accommodations.
@@rwh5350any reasonable person will tell you such a important job can’t belong to one person and the rest of society plays along. He can’t serve the public to the best of his ability right now. Another public servant steps up. I’m sure many people will do it and be better fit for $170k per year lol.
@@rwh5350Are a hell of a friend.
@@rwh5350They could have picked an acting chief till the other was able to return to work. It happens all the time. If the chief in Florida suddenly has a serious illness that leaves him incapacitated what will they do? If the person who has the lung transplant never recovers well enough to do the job what will they do? No other person is able to step in?
I have absolutely no concerns about how the chief earns $170,000 a year doesn't complete required training yet is the best chief of police for this University blah blah blah blah blah blah wow .
Massachusetts is scam City , I'm living there.
if I could hit thumbs up for this comment 50 more times, I would
Lately so many things being revealed in Massachusetts especially involving police 🚔 officer's.. Do they teach the police departments ethics in Mass?

@@RoscoeBear34 Welcome to Massachusetts! (nice Pyrenees)
What a crock! Not even certified and he makes 170K for not showing up...😂
Can I that?
Maybe they should replace Frederick Clark, President of Bridgewater University, with someone who will hire a police chief who isn't living in Florida or coming off a double lung transplant.
Retiring to Florida.
The dream of every northern state public employee. Why is that?
🤔
But usually AFTER they retire, right? 🤔
No state tax! They get to keep more of their pensions.
Weather. Old folks like warm weather.
Not me. I would never live in Florida.
And so it goes on and on in MA. 🤦🏻♀️
I have an ailing relative. Can I live in Hollywood Beach Florida and collect a remote multi 6 figure salary from the State of Massachusetts? Generous people they are.😊
Unfortunately, that might be a Yes 🤔
He is ready to retire and they have no replacement so they are keeping him on the books. Till he is replaced plus it's a University college it's not the same as city police. This happened to my father he was a marine engineer rank Chief. He wanted to retire but they had no replacement because no one was qualified. You have to have a bunch of certifications. After 8 months he was finally able to retire.
ONLY IN MASSACHUSETTS!!!😡
& Florida, the cesspool stste
Not Only
Not even, unfortunately 😅. #stopcopcity #ACAB
Lol...Massachusetts is safest state in country, cops just give out tickets and handle traffic....Florida needs the help. 🤣
I call b******* will the taxpayers do not want to pay for something in our County in our state that doesn't even live there
Doesn't Markey live out of state?
@@oldmandouche8844 I'm not a Markey (or Warren) fan at all but that's a bit unfair haha. It's normal for congressmen and senators to have a second house in DC (or nearby Virginia/Maryland), since commuting daily from their home state isn't really practical. They still have to maintain residence in the home state though.
Unless Markey no longer has his primary residence in Mass, it's not the same thing as this chief.
Doesn't Massachusetts have a chief law enforcement officer just like the other 49 states ???
Governor Healy has to be complicit because she is NOT THAT STUPID.
Governor Healy is THAT STUPID.
The grift starts at the top.
The low men on the ladder didn't learn embezzlement, money laundering, and several other forms of grifting from watching School House Rock.
Why would the Governor be complicit? Could you explain that for us?
OMG! This is crazy!
It is not legal to do that, and it does not matter his reasoning.
What is illegal about it? That his POST certification has lapsed? Like many police agencies do, they could retitle his job Public Safety Director or Commissioner. Then he could retire, collect his pension and then collect a second check as a non-sworn LEO (civilian).
Yes it is, are you really that ignorant of policing. They can do what they want without bootlickers helping them.
Typical for Massachusetts
My taxes help fund this corruption?
Paying taxes counts for nothing here , get back to work and stop asking questions
That's not the only corruption your tax dollars are funding. 😂🤣
I want my tax money back if these cops busy eating donuts at home
It's a University college not a city it's mostly administration work
@@roninthedestroyer8958that really shouldn’t matter, he’s at least 1,400 miles away. Sounds like the acting chief is more suitable for the job, then one living out of state, & the other had a double lung replacement. Is University tuition paying for 3 people to fill one position, do they get state or federal funding? Sounds more like he needed time to reach retirement age, so we’ll accommodate & let you work from 1,400 miles away.
At least they give the taxpayers the holes.
How is he working in FL? Getting on zoom calls? And I’m sure his salary is paid by the taxpayers.
Who watches the watchers?
The watchers
President Clark should be immediately fired. Tillinghast should also be fired. Both of them have demonstrated a level of incompetence, extremely poor leadership, and outright malfeasance. As a former police officer myself, there is NO way a chief can effectively run a police department remotely. These two men are delusional to believe the stupidity they spewed out in this video. This never should have happened. It is so far beyond extreme greed, it is totally incomprehensible. Tillinghast should be made to pay back the last 18 months pay, and Clark should be made to pay back his last 18 months pay also. This school has had a history of hiring Presidents who only wanted to take the money and not do their jobs and this is a prima facie case of willful, reckless endangerment to everyone on that campus. These two need to be arrested and tried for their crimes.
💯 in agreement.
THAT'S CALLED fraud. Charge him, make him pay back his salary and remove his pension from him. FRAUD
Bridgewater state president, all caencellors, vice chancellors, deans, and tenured administrators need to have their pay seized and withheld until Tillinghast repays every penny of pay from when he went to Florida, and his pension forfeited.
Sounds like he's already retired and doing consulting work on the side.
Looks like his diet consists of nothing but donuts
Does the sh!t every end with these massholes? 🤦♀️
Dayum you are GORGEOUS! But no, it never does end.
Upper level university administration members take care of each other. He probably has a golden parachute.
Wow. I'm lost for words.
The Chief can't do this on his own. There has to be others involved. Kickbacks? So bad
How much overtime has he put in for?
I was arrested by these jerks back in the early 90’s it was BS and what a joke I think I got a 50$ fine what a waste of time
They have more power now, they can stop cars on the streets near the college now before it was streets directly associated with the campus.
Something smells very fishy and right out the gate!
That is called abandonment... HR should have notified whom ever is responsible for the college indoctrination program and terminated him immediately.
Along with the idiot that thinks it’s OK, the university’s president or Dean whatever he is. This shouldn’t be a position, you can do remotely from another state. His ass should be sitting in his chair, in his office, PERIOD!
As long as the taxpayers are paying...
💯
Whoops - Mass; who approves this
He certainly isn't giving any press conferences, at a podium, in the parking lot 🤐😳😬
$170k. Not anymore
How about $400K and all the perks, SENILE Joe Biden is being paid for not being President
Does he perhaps feel safer protected in our Floridas Policing policies 🤔
This is the most boomer thing I've ever seen
Pretty smart for an old guy😂😂😂😂 oh boomer as you state.
President is not a boomer. He’s too young. He’s either gen x or late millennial.
Damn !! I feel like I've heard it all now.
This Guy needs to come back to the Massachusetts
@@mrbluesteenyou are right Florida is full . He should spend his "hard earned money" on the Cape some where
look how deep the corruption is .. never ending corruption
It's called the spoils system.....been around a couple of centuries.
Anyone buying this set up ?
It's a top bottom issue. If the superiors are acting inappropriately, it just gives the rest the green light. Massachusetts needs a complete renovation. It's no secret that MA has one of the most corrupt forces in America and it's been going on for decades. The silver lining with the KR case is that it's finally shedding light to this madness.
If you or I did this we would be charged with defrauding the government and thrown in jail.
🤔 ridiculous!!
So he retired but didnt tell his bosses so he could get his check.
Typical "we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing". PATHETIC
Since he isn't fuly certified , he's impersonating a police officer and needs to be criminally charged .
President Clark said he has no concerns about the police chief and how the department is being run, and that may be well and good, and true for him. However, if I was Chancellor Reyes, I'd have some concerns about how President Clark was running his police, and other, departments. JUST SAYING...
This sheriff of Bennington county did the same thing. He moved 1000 miles away ran a car wash. Yet still full receiving a sheriff pay.
The chief didn’t do anything wrong. He asked to retire.
His replacement is out sick with a double lung transplant...
How can you argue with that logic?
That crooked Police Chief should be fired, but of course, he won't be. Also, that crooked Union President defends him. Disgraceful. The corruption in Massachusetts is off the charts. No accountability at all!
Why everyone hating on remote works? Absolutely zero reason for a Police Chief to be present. 99% of the job is paperwork...
Lock him up!
What is going on in that state? Between Karen Read and the Birchmore case, now Police Chiefs working remotely! Totally insane!
They’ll dig up an excuse! This is what your tax $ pays for!
This is disgusting. He should be fired immediately, but he won’t be.
This guy isn’t certified to hold any law enforcement job, is basically retired right now and collecting full salary and benefits. What a total fraud job. This can’t be legal.
Now that is a sweet grift.
Live in another state, do nothing to stay qualified for your job, just answer the phone occasionally and make $170k/year.
Sign me up for that shit right now.
So, the Chief needs to be fired, and ordered to pay back 1.5 years of his salary. The University President also needs to be fired. There needs to be an investigation by the state Auditor General, and also the state Attorney General, and file charges if laws were broken.
I'm certain police corruption isn't unique to Massachusetts
First thoughtful comment 😅
@@ZDoreTyr 😂
In my FL city, the last police chief served 5 years as chief after retiring after 30 years working up the ranks to Deputy Chief. Finally, a new Mayor decided 35 years was long enough and encouraged him to "retire" (for the second time). Only he didn't retire, he went out on a scam worker comp claim and collected on that for 5 more years.
Pretty soon, police chiefs in Massachusetts will be making more than Corporate CEO's. If the Chief needs to care for a relative in Florida, he should take an unpaid leave of absence and the College should appoint the deputy to take over. This situation is seriously wrong and needs to be fixed ASAP.
That's a big remote control.
The not being certified is a horrendous liability not only for the Chief but for his subordinates . It's not a smart bunch running this theater .
This is complete BS. I’m a firefighter in Massachusetts and am required to live no more than 15 miles as a condition of employment form my department. This guy is a police chief collecting a state paycheck and a will collect a state pension and he’s allowed to live 1,500 miles away. Also he’s no longer a certified officer, has net attended any in-person training in the last 2 years and hasten qualified with his side arm? Yet he’s still employed? SERIOUSLY WTF!!!
His salary should be returned all the way from the day he went to Florida.
Democrats are the pillar of honesty and integrity
Why don't people clear their throats before speaking in public? It's disgusting!
This happens all the time in Massachusetts. The state and local governments are very corrupt. A Democrat run State.
Big red herring
This is how you re-criminalize weed and import Scientology in healthy California cities.
I wasn't aware that police officer was a job you could do remotely....
I wouldn’t send my kids to that university if they wast money like that wonder how much tuition is their
THERE ARE OVER 350 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE UNITED STATES. YOUR SECOND-IN-COMMAND HAS SURGERY. YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU COULDN'T FIND SOMEBODY ELSE OUT OF 350 MILLION PEOPLE? AND LET'S BE HONEST, ISN'T IT FUNNY THAT THE MOST SAFE THE BEST POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THAT CAMPUS IS BEING CONTROLLED BY A CHIEF THAT ISN'T EVEN THERE! I LOVE THAT!
The university president should be fired as well!
The arrogance and audacity of this President to be gleefully condoning the chief accepting a paycheck, as a no show, and without the proper professional certifications. F grade for you sir.
Unbelievable! Wait this is Massachusetts; very little makes sense here. Look who we have for politicians.
Show me a cop I’ll show you a criminal .
Imagine the wide-ranging management skills he must have along with a very, very long barrel on his semi-auto police pistol…
It's truly a state of who gives a shit
If Fred Clark thinks that, someone should take a close look at Clark.
Investigate every person who supports him to see what kind of a nonsense they are involved in as well
That’s the scary part ‘I have no concerns’
2:48 You have no concerns because accountability is rare for you. To insinuate that employing this guy who is 1400 miles away is in the taxpayers best interest is absurd. Can't locate someone qualified in a year? Hogwash!
I wonder how many are ‘working remotely’ from warm sunny places, while Mass taxpayers foot the bill? I bet he’s not the only one.
You got to be kidding...........flush the country down the drain...its over people
The new police chief just had a "Double-Lung transplant? ... That's insane!
We investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong.
